DeeAn Gillespie has practiced law since 1985. She founded her own law firm early in her career — in September 1985. In 2006, the firm was renamed Gillespie Shields & Associates and, in 2009, she included her former mentor Dan Durrant and changed the firm’s name again to Gillespie, Shields & Durrant.

Those who know DeeAn Gillespie Strub can describe her in three words: caring, courageous, and competent. Growing up as the oldest of nine children, DeeAn quickly learned leadership and resourcefulness. With both parents as educators, she also acquired a love of learning, and from her mathematician father learned to think analytically. Following in her parents’ footsteps, her first career step was to become a teacher. It was not long before she determined she could use her teaching skills most effectively in a different arena: the law. She wanted to make a difference for people.
Graduating from Brigham Young University Law School in 1984, DeeAn set up shop in Arizona and founded the firm now known as Gillespie Shields & Durrant, which currently boasts 13 top-flight attorneys. With characteristic determination, DeeAn has risen to the top of her profession by qualifying with the State Bar of Arizona as a certified specialist in Family Law.
