History

Established in 2006.

Defense Pest Control is a locally-owned and family-operated business in Mesa, Arizona established by husband and wife, Ryan and Wendy Michel. Ryan was introduced to pest control for the first time in South Carolina and worked for a family-owned franchise of Terminix International. It was there that Ryan received excellent training and experience in both the pest and termite control industry.

In 2006, Ryan and Wendy decided to open their own pest control company, Defense Pest Control, and have been providing outstanding service ever since. As a family-owned business, Ryan and Wendy treat each and every one of their customers like family. They are dedicated to providing safe, pest-free environments for all homeowners and business owners throughout the East Valley Cities and Maricopa. With pet and family-friendly solutions, you can have the peace of mind knowing your home and family are protected!

Ryan Michel has 15-years of pest control experience, having worked for both a family-owned franchise of Terminix and Safeguard Pest Control. He began Defense Pest Control in 2006 to provide the highest level of personalized, professional customer service in the pest control industry.

Ryan was born and raised in Southern Alberta, Canada. He married his wife Wendy who is an Arizona native. Following her enlistment in the Navy they moved to Calgary, Alberta Canada for one cold winter and have been in Arizona ever since.

I have been a customer of Terminix for years. In the last few months I’ve had 2 services preformed by different techs and I got to tell you I was not impressed. Both of them were given trucks were the pumps were not working and they sprayed my back yard with a spray can which amazingly took less time then it took to do with the right equipment. Needless to say I still had pest problems. I called to reschedule and have someone come out again. I was giving a time frame so I made cretain I was home and took off work to ensure I would get the service I needed. The time went by and I waited 3 hours and never received so much as a call from them explaining to me that there was an issues or even that there would be a delay. For five years I received service from them and you would think I would get at least a courtesy call.
Sorry to say I’ll have to take my business elsewhere three strikes and your out, I never got that myself doing business.

I called this company in a complete panic because of a sudden fly infestation inside my home. My call was forwarded to Ryan and he spoke to me very calmly to assess what was going on. Ryan assured me that he would help me with this problem. I tried to call the company that has been treating my home and not only were they not available they never called me back. Within a matter of minutes Ryan sent Jesse to my home to get rid of the flies (Friday evening). I have never been more pleased with a company’s customer service. Our family is new to the San Tan Valley area and Jesse not only came and alleviated the problem he was very informative about the area and the cause of the recent infestation. I am proud to say that I have not seen a fly inside my home since he treated it! I am in the process of firing our current pest control company and I will be a proud member of the Defense team from now on. THANK YOU Jesse and the Defense team!

Well, I have never been more prompted to write a review for a company than just now! I literally just hung up the phone with Ryan at Defense Pest Control after an incredibly genuine and generous conversation! We all see hard times, and currently, with my husband and I’s recent transition out of the military, funds are pending in some areas and we got a little behind. I was afraid to call, because you never know what response you could get nowadays from businesses. I briefly informed Sara of our dilemma and she, without a hint of judgement or hesitation cheerfully stated she would forward my call to assist me. Soon after, I reached Ryan, who was so kind and so understanding. Very calmly asked what worked for me and my family and how I’d like to go forward with payment and future sprays. I literally was overcome with gratitude and tears in my eyes from how genuine and generous Ryan was. What a remarkable company! I know we are not just a number to them… we are a real family and were treated as if an extension of their own! Awesome Service!
All of their products are human and pet safe!
Friendly technicians that are very knowledgeable and willing to explain every detail.
I can pay as I go, no automatic withdrawals, I just write them a check when they come out every other month. They’ll even come out in between sprays for a touch up if you need it at no extra charge.
