History

Established in 1996.

Bear Mountain was started in Mesa Az. as a community oriented hunting and fishing store by Jim Gilliland and Mike Moore to provide Hunters, Shooters and Fishing enthusiasts with a great locally owned family run store.

Business Owner

I have been hunting, fishing and camping all over the United States since I was 8 years old. My dad was in the US Army and we moved a lot. Alaska was the beginning of my love affair with being outdoors. We are talking 1967, a very different world back then. I used to ride my bike down to the creek to fish for trout. Hike the hills dodging moose and looking for snow shoe rabbits with a borrowed recurve bow. Since then I have hunted a lot of the westen and northern states for elk, deer, bear, caribou, wolf, coyotes, javelina, turkey, game birds etc. Being outdoors in the country God made is a real passion of mine. Short range (bow Hunting) and long range (30 – 378 caliber custom rifles) hunting takes up most of my spare time and I love sharing the things I have learned along the way. Bear Mountain gives me the platform to help people enjoy the outdoors and pass along that hard earned knowledge. I help customers with everything from where to hunt, how to hunt and what to use and I love it.
