Babbitt Motor Werks is a BMW-​only, bumper-​to-​bumper repair and service facility. Comprised of a handpicked staff carefully selected from BMW dealerships throughout the valley, Babbitt Motor Werks offers the preeminent degree of BMW knowledge. All technicians have reached the highest level of training offered by BMW North America and only BMW factory parts are used for all repairs and service. As the only independent BMW repair facility in Arizona to own two GT1 diagnostic systems and two SS programming stations, Babbitt Motor Werks has the specific computer systems required to diagnose and repair BMW’s, a service usually reserved for corporate dealerships only. Babbitt Motor Werks truly understands the importance of maintaining a client through elevated customer service, quality, and fair pricing and promotes a philosophy of trust and integrity throughout its family of employees and customers.

Business Owner

After graduating in the top of his class from Universal Technical Institute, Nathan continued his education by training with BMW North America where he became a BMW Master Technician. He then fine-​tuned his expertise by working seven years at a Scottsdale BMW franchise dealership. In 2003, Nathan established Babbitt Motor Werks, an independent BMW service shop in Mesa. For the past six years, Babbitt Motor Werks has been serving the entire Phoenix area with unsurpassed integrity and quality, creating a cult-​like following of customers. BMW owners are unique in their attachment to and care of their vehicles. Nathan and his staff appreciate this dedication and create a trust with their customers that allows for a positive experience every time they visit Babbitt Motor Werks.

There’s a reason I’ll only bring my BMW 750iL to Babbitt Motor Werks, they’re the best! Their concept of service is second to none and I know that I can always trust them to advise me and not take advantage. Nathan and his crew are extremely knowledgeable and take great care to get the job done right the first time, every time. I’ve been a costumer for about 8 years and I’ll be one as long as I own a BMW. Shouts out to Jen for her infectious smile, and to Cam and Danny for always making sure you feel welcome whenever you come in.

Took my 328i in because of a ticking noise and paranoia, and they took care of me. Very patient with all my silly questions and kept me from getting nervous. Yeah this is my first car, so everything is pretty new to me. Turns out there was much more than I had thought but they worked with my warranty company and (even though they took forever to approve the work) they got it ready for me so I could have over the weekend. Honest and awesome shop. I love this place and will continue taking my car here.

I love this shop! Love it! I discovered them years ago when I got a quote from BMW of North Scottsdale and wanted a second quote. Babbit’s price fr the same work was literally half that of the dealership! Babbit saved me $ 900! Great service, bargain prices for this part of the country. Don’t be a dummy by going to a dealership for repairs or service. This week I brought a used BMW to Babbit to have them provide a objective evaluation of it. I am so glad I did. The Carfax reports of the car said it had not been in an accident but they found evidence that it had been in multiple accidents. They found all sorts of issues in the car I’m so glad I brought it there it was well worth the hundred dollars they charge for the service. Had I not brought it to them, I would’ve been stuck with at least $ 4000 worth of repair bills for the car. I totally trust these guys! Eric was great.

I read all these great reviews and was then highly disappointed when I was charged over $ 500 for a repair I really did not need, all because I said the BMW dealer told me it needed a front wheel bearing. Half way through the repair, I received a phone call from the owner asking why I didn’t let them diagnose the problem. I told him I called several days ahead to book the appointment and told the person on the phone what the dealer said. It wasn’t mentioned or suggested to let them first diagnose the car. It was also not suggested when I dropped the car off Friday morning. It turns out that I did not need a front wheel bearing, but I did need a rear one. The front one was not looked at until the new one was put on the car. That’s when I was told a new one wasn’t really need. But it’s what you asked for so that’s what we did. Too late to put the old one back on, and now I can’t return the new part. $ 588 parts/​labor. Now I need a rear bearing, because that’s what the real issue is, and the car is basically dangerous to drive at this point. $ 388 parts and labor for that repair. I was given a $ 50 discount on labor for the second repair, but still had to pay full price for the front bearing which the car did not need. Not sure who to trust anymore… The repairs were great, service was great, staff was professional, but again, I was charged for an unnecessary repair all because no one suggested I let them take a look at the car first.

Awesome shop without a doubt, friendly and very informative. I drove 40 minutes because of all of the positive reviews, and I’m happy I did. These guys are amazing!
I had a couple of issues with my Mini Cooper Countryman S and not only are they honest and straightforward, but they truly did an amazing job with my car. They are easy-​going and really helped me out. Eric helped me to understand the issue with my car (flubs done by another mechanic shop), and even better — they had my car out the same day.
I feel very confident in recommending them. They are truly stand up guys. So happy to find a great mechanic that is honest and doesn’t try to take advantage.

By far the BEST shop anywhere! Had my Mini in for diagnostic and «2nd opinion». They diagnosed the problem correctly. Less than half the cost as the dealership and had me up and running in 2 days! Awesome, amazing, super customer service and great talent! Will not take my car anywhere else!

I found this place online a year back for my 328xi. The car had only 50k on the odometer and was an 07′. Nonetheless, the back window actuator had went out and Eric Francis was straight forward and honest. Having what I call a common sense I am able to feel people out and never once felt I was being taken for a ride given the delicate electronics inside the door panels.
Now I am here for my 2010 X5. The 328xi had a horrific tragedy, but we won’t go into that. The service light came on so I called them up and once again, completely satisfied. Coming back next week to get the oil changed even though I have 1100 miles left according the the vehicle info on the computer.
BMW makes a hell of a car and if you want hell of service with awesome customer satisfaction, this is the place to go. Half the cost of dealership and also does warranty work.

I have a 2006×5, which began having trouble when the self leveling module went out. After it had been to 3 different shops, totaling over 2 months of unsuccessful diagnosis and repair attempts, I took the car to Babbitt. The staff is great! After talking to Eric and handing over the keys, my car was diagnosed and repaired just like that! During which time, Eric made sure to stay in contact with me to keep me informed of the progress.
After visiting the shop, my BMW is happy, healthy and running stronger than ever! I will never bring my car to anyone else in the valley.
I recommend this top quality shop to all who have maintenance needs for their imports. Professional, fast and curteous. Thank you so much guys!

I have been going to Babbitt for a few years now with my BMW and they are amazing! They are very fairly priced, honest and trustworthy — you can’t say that for dealerships. I have taken my car to the Tempe location and now since I have moved take my car to the Scottsdale Rd location and couldn’t be happier with the work and service they provide. While on vacation in the Phoenix area, my BMW wouldn’t start. After researching online, I had my car towed to Babbitt due to the strong reviews, as well as a recommendation from my mechanic back in Orange County. I was not disappointed in my decision.
Working with Eric was a very positive experience. The problem with why it wouldn’t start was not easily detectable. They had my car a total of 5 days and I was kept informed on the progress and research daily. Through trial and error, it was determined the cam adjustment motor sensor was faulty. I was impressed with the honesty and integrity of the Babbitt crew and was not charged for any unnecessary parts that were used during the process while attempting to find the problem.
I hope to never have issues again when I travel thru the Phoenix area, but if I do, I know where I’ll be taking my BMW. Thanks Eric, for the fantastic service you provide on a daily basis to your customers and the service I received from you this week!

I have been going to Babbitt Motor Werks for 5 years now for my 2004 Mini Cooper and I would never go to anybody else. It is really hard to find a good mechanic who is also honest. I would not take my car to anybody else! Eric is always very informative and explains to me exactly what needs to be done and why so that there are no questions on my end.

Very honest and full of information place. I picked up a 745Li & before buying had it inspected at Babbits, Eric made it very easy for me to get it in without prior notice & they inspected everything. Then after i ended up buying the car they ended up applying my inspection fee to an oil change so i got an oil change Free from them, its a service they offer, GREAT!

I have taken my 2001 BMW 330CI three times so far and each time the service has been great. I have taken my car in to get the following done… Power Steering Pump, Engine Mounts, Driver Side Lock Regulator. Engine Valves. Front Struts, Front Bushings, Engine Oil Leak, & Tire Alignment. All of these items were quoted at a fraction of what a BMW dealer would charge. Eric is super friendly and very knowledgable. I highly recomend you take your BMW or MINI here and do not take it to a dealer. You will save $ 100s if not $ 1000s of dollars by doing so.

I have a 2006 BMW 325i which has recently gone out of warranty. It’s a great car, but I was concerned about having to pay for service given my past experience with out of warranty items at the dealer. I was also apprehensive about getting a bad service experience after getting spoiled with the fine work at the dealer’s service center. And then I found Babbitt Motor Werks. I’ve been to the Mesa shop three times over the last year. Every experience I’ve had with them has been stellar. Eric, who I’ve worked with each time, is always accommodating, up front, and spot on with his estimates. The first time I went there, I got a quote for the same work from a BMW dealer in town and it was more than twice what Babbitt quoted. They can usually get the work done in the same day. I highly recommend it.

BMW maintenance costs after warranty has played out. bites. and it bites big!
I was hit by road debris on the ever debri’d I-​10… my insurance sent me to BMW and then to another auto shop for the work. Babbitt saved me hundreds. Nate is awesome. no other words. he knows how to get parts within hours. hes informative & on his game.
NOW to rid myself of a car that is starting to continuously have issues. hmmmmm

Owning a BMW is nice… for a while. Then, you get out of your warranty and the maintenance costs start becoming like a second mortgage. This is where the fine folks at Babbitt Motor Werks come in. Sure, you have to drive all the way to Mesa, but it will save you HUNDREDS of dollars in repair costs.
First things first, Babbitt is owned and run by BMW mechanics, many of whom used to work for Chapman’s. The walls of their waiting room are adorned with awards they received during their years there. Nathan, who owns the business, and Erik, who runs the office, are both experts in BMW issues. I can call them with some symptoms and they will usually be able to tell me over the phone what the problem is and give a ballpark of the costs (they haven’t gotten either wrong, yet). They will also walk you out to their garage, with your car up in the rack, and show you exactly what is going wrong. Once, they pulled a sample part out of their stock to better explain a repair they completed. Every time I am in there, I learn something new. And, I never, NEVER feel like I am being taken advantage of.
Prime example: a recent leak in the thermostat housing. North Scottsdale BMW: $ 450. Babbitt: $ 280. Same authentic BMW parts. Same quality of work.
For lengthy repairs, Babbitt has a deal with the local Enterprise Rent-​a-​Car. Enterprise picks you up at the repair shop and Babbitt pays $ 15 per day towards your rental. The only downside to Babbitt is that they don’t wash your car, like the dealerships do. But, for hundreds of dollars in savings, I can wash my own car!
