We Take Junk

Don’t use these folks if you actually want anything hauled (or need a company that will show up when scheduled).
We bought a Living Social deal and called to set up an appointment for junk hauling. The owner called the night before our appointment to reschedule to another day (no apologies or explanations for having to reschedule, just «we’re moving it to this date») — this was difficult because it involved having to take time off of work to accommodate, but we made it happen because sometimes plans change and we wanted our items hauled as soon as possible.
Day of (rescheduled) appointment: no one showed up or called. After an hour past our scheduled time had passed, we contacted them to find out if the timeline had changed — eventually they texted saying they were stuck in traffic and would be on their way to us soon (no apologies for being late or not contacting us to let us know what was going on). Several hours later, we messaged again and were told that they had decided to do other hauling jobs in the Eastside instead of coming over to Seattle and would need to reschedule our appointment for next week some time. We wrote back saying this would be extremely difficult (see above comment about having to rearrange work schedules), and needed to know what their availability was so that we could see if it were even possible. That was yesterday afternoon, and as of today (now 2:14 pm) we still haven’t heard anything back from them.
These folks need to sit down and seriously re-​evaluate their customer service strategy. We’ve contacted Living Social to get our coupon credit back, and are finding a hauling company that actually cares about its customers.

Like the others here, I wish I had read the reviews before I bought a Living Social coupon for this sleezy service. I never got a callback to my messages, but finally was able to reach a live body when I called. I set up an appointment and hauled everything out to my driveway to make it easy for pickup. Guess what, no show or call on the day of the appointment. The next day I texted to ask if they were going to come that day, and the guy replied they got a flat tire and he didn’t have his phone on him to call or text me. Then when they did show up, he texted to ask if a couple of the smaller items in the pile were junk. I replied that they were, but if they didn’t have room, no big deal. He said no problem. Then later he sent me a text to let me know that I was being charged an additional 65 bucks for the load because it was larger than I had paid for with my coupon, and he would send me a bill. That ticked me off because if he took the time to ask me about the two small items, why didn’t he take the time to mention that my pile was too big for what I had paid for and give me the option of having him leave items OR pay extra to have it all hauled away. I would have totally understood and easily had them leave some items out. I feel like it was a total bait and switch deal and now I am stuck with a bill for services that I didn’t want. It would have been cheaper to rent a truck and do the hauling myself, and a lot less grief.

I had intended to use the Groupon coupon for $ 49??, but called Wetakejunk, first, to see if they actually DID pick up in North Shoreline. They did pick up in Shoreline, but not for this Groupon deal (man I spoke to said that they would «lose money»), but, for the full fee of $ 85, would pick up this queen-​sized mattress. This was less than some pickuppers in this area and about the same if I had rented a U-​haul and taken it to our local transfer station and paid that fee or paid the $ 75 to Costco for haul away. So I said yes, set an appt, gave them driving instructions. They were here 10 – 15 minutes prior, but I wasn’t at phone, so left message and then returned later and took the mattress. Tlhat was excellent service – for a price.
Now, I DO have a problem with this company going on Groupon and then not honoring the coupon or just not returning calls. for probably myriad reasons I suspect that had I pushed the coupon issue, I would have received the same poor service as the other reviewers. Plus I have a bit of difficulty with this «bait and switch.»
So, We Take Junk, either honor graciously the coupon in the areas you indicate on the site or take off the coupon. The service, once I did pay the full price (and it was reasonable, considering) was excellent. I shall inform Groupon about this problem, too. I suspect Groupon would not look too kindly on such poor service or faulty information.

Do not schedule junk pickup with this company. We tried two times to schedule with them, were promised they would be there at a certain time, but we waited and the truck never appeared. The first time we phoned after waiting and finally received a call back, apologizing and asking if we could reschedule… we did and we were promised to be the «first appointment of the day». Second appointment we waited and they never showed, never called, never communicated in any way. Now I’m trying to get my $ back from Groupon for this ridiculous non-​service provided by We Take Junk. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I wish I would’ve read these reviews before purchasing the groupon. We set an apt for yesterday at 3pm over a week in advance. My fiancé even pulled everything outside to make it easier for them. 3pm rolls around and no call no show. We waited until 3:30 to call and no answer, so I left a message. I also left a text message and still no response. I called the number that appears on the groupon and he miraculously answered over an hour and a half later. I tell him we had an apt at 3 and he said oh yeah that’s right you did. No apology or anything. He said he was just finishing up at a place and it took longer than expected. He said he could be to our house by 6, I said ok, but please make sure to call or text me when you are on your way. He texted me a half hour later saying he is stuck in traffic and can we reschedule for tomorrow? Pretty upset at this point since we planned our day around this apt and I had already explained that the next day didn’t work because we had to work. I texted him back and said if you can be to our house by noon then we can make it work. No response, I texted him right before noon and again no response, so I guess I will be getting a refund on our groupon and moving our stuff back in the basement and calling a more reputable company to come pick it up! This experience has been super frustrating and I highly suggest to never use this company!

We have used this company three times, most recently yesterday. They have always been on time, professional, polite and have done a great job. We highly recommend them.

Do not use this company. I’d give them a negative star rating if I could.
Three different appointments set up, three different excuses as to why they couldn’t meet their commitments. NO proactive communication from them giving me a heads up, no follow up at all from a customer service perspective, etc…
While the Groupon guys were awesome at providing me a refund, I will never get back the time and energy I wasted just trying to get these guys to honor their word.
My experience was exactly like the other reviewer here, multiple attempts, accommodating the rescheduling AND later discovering that they were just liars.
My next email will be going to the BBB.

WARNING: DO NOT BUY THEIR GROUPON. I purchased a groupon for junk removal from this company a couple weeks ago and called to schedule an appointment a few days in advance. The day of my scheduled appt I received a text message saying the truck was broken down and asking to push the appointment back to 1pm the following day (Saturday) — I happily agreed… things happen. 1pm rolls around the next day and they are a no show– no call, no message. After multiple attempts I was finally able to reach them that evening (hours later) and they said they now had two flat tires on the truck, but would be able to come the next day (Sunday) at 12:30pm– I begrudgingly said ok. The next morning I contacted them again to confirm they were coming. 12:30 rolls around and once again– no show, no call, no message. I spent the rest of the day calling and texting them and they ignored every single call and message. Yesterday (Wednesday) I get a long message saying they were overwhelmed by the amount of calls after posting the groupon and are «sorry». There had never been any issues with the truck, they straight up lied to me. So basically, they chose to lie to a customer, didn’t complete the service I had prepaid for, and were terribly rude & inconsiderate. I will never use this company again and STRONGLY suggest nobody else does either.
