UC Merced Gym and Recreation Center

While smaller than most college gyms, UC Merced’s gym has all the necessary equipment. It also looks very new and hardly anyone was inside! HUGE plus.

It’s been a long summer, I definitely missed this gym and I’ll miss it even more after I’m done this semester. Going to take full advantage of it. Fitness on full effect lets go!

I love the gym, the people are nice and really new equipment. Also free for UC Merced students: D

Careful thought, it can get pretty crowded during high traffic areas. I just avoid the place during that time. But other than that, ELLIPTICAL TIIIIMMMEEE.

Free for UC students?! Actually, not really «free» since we’re paying to utilize it with our student fees but it’s cheaper than applying for a membership at other gyms in Mercedizzle!
It might not be as big as UC Santa Barbara’s 3 buildings gym with an Olympic swimming pool, raquetball courts, tennis courts, 2+ basketball courts, an indoor hockey/​inline/​soccer court and workout center with 4 times the equipment of UC Merced… BUT! You must consider that UC Merced is a small school and it’s still growing. Plus the equipment are newer.
This is where I usually go before or after class. They have decent enough of equipment for me to do my workout. This place is clean. I love that they having cleaning supplies that we can use to clean our work area once we’re done with it. They have a small dance room and a basketball court also used as a auditorium. Everything is new. I haven’t encounter any bad smells yet. People there are nice. There are complimentary sweat and shower towels you can use during your workout there and return them when you’re done. They have television with any channel you want to watch on request; same here with their satellite radio.
They close late Mondays to Thursdays and close a little bit earlier during weekends but that’s during regular school session. It’s different during the summer and holidays.
3-​Stars because I wish they could start expanding it now or soon. Due to the increase of incoming freshmen every year, there will inevitably more students, faculty and staffs utilizing the gym.
