History
Established in 1944.
Walthall & Drake was formed in 1944 when Orville Walthall and John Drake, two professors of accounting at Cleveland College (now Case Western Reserve) bought the practice of another professor at the college, Robert W. Agler, whom they used to work for on a part-time basis.
Walthall and Drake were determined to build a solid accounting practice based on their teachings. They were committed to providing quality services at affordable prices with an emphasis on the client relationship.
Over the years, the firm has had a successful history of mergers, never straying from the original commitment to provide high-quality, cost-effective services, while delivering stellar client service.
Now, as a Top 20 accounting firm in the Northeast Ohio with four offices, we offer a complete range of assurance, tax, and business advisory services to a variety of clients and industries.
Meet the Business Owner
Ray O.
Business Owner
With more than 25 years of experience, Ray oversees the firm’s Mentor office. He joined Walthall through a merger with Tischler, Beard, Wallace & Co. Ray is responsible for engagement planning and supervision, staff training, and business development. He heads the firm’s oil and gas/energy group.
Providing closely held businesses with accounting and tax services, Ray serves a broad range of clients in the oil and gas, construction, manufacturing and distribution, real estate, and professional services. He has much experience in multi-state financial statement audits, review engagements, consultations on structuring of advanced real property transactions, forecasts and projections, organization of client accounting systems, and litigation support. In addition, Ray prepares and reviews personal and business income tax returns and other annual client reports.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting at Heidelberg University, where he graduated cum laude and was an NCAA Academic
