Rainsong Shoes

We walked in and I was asked to leave my coffee on the counter. I’m a grown adult! I think I can walk and hold coffee. And then the sales people were just not very interested. I saw several pairs of shoes that o would have tried on and more than likely purchased at least one pair, but given the lackluster treatment I decided to take my money elsewhere.

This store obviously caters to the über-​rich who can say, «‘l’ll take this pair and that pair and this one here». The sales staff appear to sense if you are a buyer or a lookie loo. Shoes that you don’t find in the big cities pass trough here and you wil receive a lot of attention wearing these unusual styles but it also takes a certain person to pull these looks off. Also, a lot of people don’t know that if you purchase over ten pairs you get a free pair (call for details). So, if you have an extra tidy sumyour bank account. stop by here and treat yourself to one of a kind shoes.
The RAINSONG CLOTHING store down the street and on the corner is a store that will extract a goodly amount of money, u have to have something in this store because it is very hard to walk out without having to have something. Incredible merchandise !!! They have such unusual finds which are irresistible, they will definately deplete your wallet. Have a budget when you step a foot in this store and stick to it, but allow yourself a generous amount. Don’t visit if you are going to say, «can’t afford»…because this will not be the store for you.

I was excited to see Arche shoes which are quite costly but oh so comfie, well made in France and great style. (I own 3 pairs) BUT! The clerk just did not notice me. No greeting. Finally I «interrupted» her and asked about the available sizing and she said just a minute. She went to the back room and told someone to come help me. This person appeared like she did not want to be bothered. I told her what shoes I wanted to try on and she only brought me one of them. When I asked her about the red ones she said «oh Ya forgot those» after she plunked them down and walked away I tried them on. Wanted to buy them but she was too busy doing nothing to ask me how they fit and what I thought of them. I said thank you as I left the store to no response. They just lost a $ 335.00 sale I found them online. Same price. Too bad they don’t realize that the only thing they have to offer is good customer service.

Shoe selection was great. Customer service was non-​existent for people with brown skin. When I went to ask a question, after my husband and I had been ignored for a while, the saleswomen didn’t stop their conversation. One of them completely turned her back on me. This was after they had both attended to customers who also had questions and didn’t have my skin color.

Selection of shoes is great… but beware! A group of us (6 – 7 girls) on a recent trip walked in and spent approximately $ 600 in 10 minutes in the store. My girlfriend wore the shoes no further down the street than one block and they would not stay on!
Her particular pair was approx. $ 130.00. We went back to the store to return for ANYTHING! STORE CREDIT? ANOTHER PAIR??? I think not! They will not take any shoe that is «worn» outside of the store because they can not «resell’ it! Really? After we spent that much??? And wore them less than 10 minutes???
Just beware of any purchase there. They have a horrible return policy and the young salesperson is extremely rude.

They have a pretty good shoe selection, but I’ve been there several times and the customer service is awful! Rarely, I will get a nice saleswoman, but –otherwise…The last time I was there, I asked the older (40ish?) woman if one of the Vintage Shoe Company’s boots came in another color, and she flatly replied, «I have no idea.» I kept waiting for the punchline… but that was her real response. I was a little blown away, and don’t know if she was just having an awful day or if this was normal customer service for this place. Other times, I have experienced the saleswoman just ignoring my presence, which is pretty bad customer service for a place w/​such high end merchandise/​atmosphere. Oh well.

When my beat up old slippers gave up the fight during a Labor Day Mendocino trip, I had to bid my loyal companions a fond farewell. (They were only 1.20 Euro from a thrift store in Holland!) While I briefly debated duct tape, I decided that I am much to vain for that and I hoofed it over to Rainsong shoes for some footwear. (It’s typical of me not to travel with two pairs for a weekend…) I sheepishly whispered to the clerk that I needed their least expensive and most cute size eights. Rather that sneering at me, she set about getting me a few reasonable offerings. I went with the ADORABLE Børn wedges with a sort of rainbow pattern for $ 50ish, on sale. Honestly, the store is a tad rich for my blood (champagne tastes, beer budget), but none of the prices seemed unreasonable, given the quality. I get a lot of compliments every time I wear the Børns and I’m really happy to have splurged on them. The clerk also discreetly tossed my old shoes and the new box. I left a different woman!

Unlike the Rainsong clothing store down the street, I wasn’t as enamored with the shoe selection here. Don’t get me wrong, they were very nice shoes in the loafer format I love however they didn’t grab me in the style dept so much.
I was a little miffed that their men’s shoe selection was so minimal whereas the female persuasion has way more to choose from. I wish this little cove of shoes the best of luck however I know where I need to get my shoes from surely.

Awesome, awesome selection. Picked up a great pair of short Uggs with a little heel, LOVE them. Also had a great selection of Frye boots. And Frye boots… the good styles never go on sale. Ever. Never online. Never in the department stores. So this is a case where you aren’t going to have to worry about a big markup (any markup, really) because you are buying in store, same with Uggs, aside of seasonal sales.
Great staff and they have a frequent buyer program, after 12 shoe pair
purchases you get a free pair equal to the average of your previous
purchases. Love it!

Awesome shoes in stock, my advice, don’t buy here, just go to look.
I found a pair of awesome shoes I loved called Miz Mooz and I tried them on, they were perfect. I googled them on my mobile while in the store and found the same shoes (labled $ 185 $) online at
for $ 60 – 80 depending on color.
Free shipping, bought them immediatley.
Knowing that they are probably marked up 50% online, and then another 100% in the store… they are marked up almost 200%!! So, rainsong needs to do more research before pricing, or they will lose business to the web.
If the strategy is to take advantage of travelers while they are freely spending, then they are probably doing a good job.
My advice, write down the brand name, find the shoes online!

The shoes at Rainsong Shoes are pretty cute but, let’s face it, a little O.F. and expensive for me.
I tried on a pair of boots that were on sale and they were somewhat fun but Jeff and I decided they were still not worth the $ 100… they would have been worth it if I were still living in Boston but just not necessary in California!

The shoe selection here at Rainsong surely fits the rustic, casual surroundings. There was nothing that I had to have, thus I left empty handed. Boo hoo beacuse I love shoes :(

My favorite shoe store ever. They are a small, but friendly place. Even though they’re collection is limited, they seem to always have something for everyone. High fashion to rugged outdoors. The staff gets an A+ from me, always friendly and warm. Even though they have a limited amount of shoes they always have a sale section that offers great shoes for great prices. I found a pair of keen clogs there for $ 50 and ever since I seem to only want to wear those.
Rainsong shoes also gets kuddos for the coolest store name ever. I really recommend this place and if you are not into shoes, at least drop in and check it out!

Looking for the best, active and stylish shoe store on the Coast… this is it! I have to limit the times I go there in a year as I ALWAYS find very cool shoes (yes, I do have an addiction) or boots or handbags here from high-​end manufacturers.
