It now ranges from very poor to average in quality, definitely getting much worse over the last few years. I have been going there occasionally for a few years(it’s a 2 min drive from my house)…but this time I’ve decided not to go back again, there are better options.

Ok, so we drove from Missouri and read all the reviews from reddit and Unilocal. All 4 of us areSuper excited to try it. Let down city. Food is good, but not great. Not allot of seasonings, but huge portions. No alcohol either. In summary it’s ok, no booze, and fair priced.

I gave this place a couple of chances and I honestly don’t think I’ll give it a third. I will say that the food is for the most part authentic and and the prices are affordable. The service was also decent. But that is it. The first time I had a taco and a few burritos and they weren’t out of this world. The second time I took it up a notch and ordered a staple of Mexican plates, carne asada. While the dish looked nice, the meat itself was very tasteless and I was left yearning for more flavor after finishing the whole deal. The menu is big and perhaps other plates are better, but so far this is only better than your average Tex-Mex place. Also, they seem to be short on hands on occasions and you will see several tables occupied with dirty dishes, something that is not particularly appealing when you come in.

Grabbed some to-go from here not too long ago and hubby and I decided this place warranted an actual visit(thought I’d save the review til then, as well). So we were in the area and hit up my bookmarks list(specifically TACOS) and came here. Unfortunately, it just wasn’t that great. The tacos were just ok. The carnitas were the best ones and usually I love the al pastor the best. I didn’t really like their al pastor much, which made me sad. The chorizo taco was dry, which I thought would be great, but it was missing the usual flavor. Their chicken taco is shredded which I don’t usually like. They said it was cooked with a sauce but I couldn’t taste it. Nothing I did made it taste better and the same could be said for the Goat Taco. All in all, it was decent but there’s so many options for tacos I just couldn’t see myself returning. Loved: — Taco de Carnitas Ok: — Salsa Rojo — Taco de Chorizo(dry) — Taco al Pastor Nope: — Salsa Verde — Taco de Goat

Pretty good mexican food, very authentic as far as I can tell. Been here several times, but nothing has really blown me away. Could be that I’m not picking the right dishes. Also, not alcohol served which is a shame, always do like a refreshing cervesa. All in all decent place, but definitely not one of my favorites.

Great tacos! Best in Memphis. As a native Californian this means a lot. The beans and rice were good too. The restaurant is clean and colorful and our waitress was super nice and speedy.

I waited until my second visit to review to be sure of consistently good service. The first visit I walked in around 2 on a busy weekday. I looked over the menu and placed my order. I had heard from a friend that their burritos were the best, so that’s what I had. The burritos have a choice have meats(steak, pork, chicken, shrimp, and a few other cuts I wasn’t too familiar with). Each hand rolled burruro is filled with queso blanco, onions, cilantro(there is a cilantro ban right now so i asked the cashier. He advised it’s from Chicago), tomatoes, in house made refried beans and a choice of other fillings each at extra cost. I added rice to mine. I sat at a table while I waited for my order and observed the other activity in the restaurant. The patrons all seemed to enjoy their food which looked delicious. I have to try something new when I have time to dine in. The servers scurried about taking delivering orders to tables and cleaning newly vacant ones. I liked the fact that the floor and tables were receiving constant cleaning. My order of four burritos took about 10 — 15 minutes. I paid for the food upon delivery. Cool. The Taste: After warming my burrito in the microwave at home, I bit into one of the best burritos I have ever had. The steak was tender and juicy. The right amount of cheese. Homemade beans make a huge difference. They were flavorful and cooked to the right tenderness. I love rice but rarely find rice cooked properly. The rice was cooked right but only added texture to the mix. Everything worked together well though. My only hang ups were that I had to ask for sauces, one of my burritos was cold(despite the fact they were each wrapped in parchment and foil), and they were placed in a flimsy plastic bag that caused them to smoosh together. My second visit was a call in order. I saw my burritos placed in the order window right as I walked in. All burritos were hot this time. Maybe because it was about 45 minutes before closing. Which Aldo could account for a lot of dirty tables. Overall, I like this place and will be back. Preferably around lunch.

The food had a great flavor. However, the quality of the meat is very questionable. I ordered the lunch fajitas(chicken & steak) and to be quite honest, I’m still not exactly sure what type of meat they served me. 80% of the meat strips were tasty the other 20% were like eating well seasoned strips of rubber. You could chew and chew but the meat wouldn’t breakdown. Eventually you just had to swallow it. Lol I’m still confused how mystery meat tasted so good.

Very friendly staff but my tacos looked nothing like the ones I saw posted. Maybe because I ordered the veggie ones? Drenched in white sauce a la Tex-Mex. I am a fan of Baja Mexican, not the other stuff.

This was the second stop on the Taco tour and I thought they had the best tacos. I was informed this place used to be a food truck and I was happy to hear that it was a sit down restaurant. When me and my friend entered, we were greeted by two of the nicest servers/cashiers. I ordered the steak and chorizo tacos and I thought they were fantastic. I’ve never eaten a chorizo taco and it was amazing, so yummy! The cost of the tacos were $ 1.99 a piece. They take both cash and credit and the restaurant was really cute. I only gave them four star as I ordered my tacos to go. However, I can’t wait to try the rest of their menu and dine in.

This is a really good authentic Mexican place to come eat some good tacos. I’m Mexican, so I do go for the tri pitas, Barbacoa and all the items most Americans thing are disgusting. I like the selection of ingredients they have, for instance, I like their cheese for the quesadillas. Good flavors, good food, jot the place it’s not pretty or inviting, but I can see pass that to get my Mexican fix. This place, just like La Michoacana makes me happy being so far from my dear Mexico.

The more that I eat here, the more I realize how good the food really is in different ways. My initial review 3 years ago was a 3 star but I think maybe that was just due to my lack of experience authentic Mexican food. This place is a solid 4 star and that is with service, freshness, and keeping it real. I have never had a bad meal and if you want authentic, look no further.

A friend had recommended that I try them out, so my wife and I went for lunch recently. I had the Carne Azada and my wife had the Chilequilles. Most of my steak was very tender, well-seasoned and the rice was nicely cooked. The Chilequilles was a bit spicy-hot, but she enjoyed it. I may have to go back to try some of the other dishes, but for my first visit it wasn’t bad. Not only was the food good, but I was also impressed with how clean everything was — the restaurant and the bathrooms were both well maintained.

This place is the REALDEAL. We were out to eat Indian, when suddenly one friend suggested we try this place and m so glad we listened to him. I and my husband usually go to the taco truck on Summer and Taquira is right there. It’s not a fancy place, just a simple authentic real Mexican restaurant: the best in Memphis I can say. They give red and green salsa to start with. The green salsa is out of this world. I can go again only to eat that salsa: it’s that’s good. And they have those flavored Mexican sodas too! We started with chicken tamales, I had never had tamales before, so I do not have a reference to compare it with. But still I would say ’twas pretty good. Within 15 minutes of us being there, the place was getting swarmed with Mexican people. You know it’s an authentic Mexican place, when its full of Mexican families having a seemingly amazing meal. Then came the tacos. I took a taco meal with one chicken and one chorizo taco. Oh the chorizo taco: I am salivating while writing about them: Sooooo good. Just perfect. My husband’s veggie tacos were pretty good too. Their Spanish rice are very flavorful as well. And the best part is it is so light on your pocket. 36 $ for a dinner of four. And trust me we had so much food. I can’t wait to go to this place again. Love it!

Wow, what an incredible place! Went with Srishti and the Husbands and we were seriously blown away. My husband had been before and said that we had to try it out. I usually don’t listen to him, but he scored points with this one :) Great casual ambiance, very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The silverware even comes in individual packages! OMGTHESALSAS!!! Right when we sat down we were greeted with fresh chips and 2 beautiful salsas-a classic Mexican style and a creamy salsa verde(tasted like tomatillo + avocado). Definitely the best salsas I have ever had. Perfectly spicy and addictive. I wish they bottled the salsa verde, I could eat it every day! We all decided to order taco meals(2 tacos with rice and beans). The chorizo taco is incredible, great flavor and spice. The chicken was good as well, but nothing compared to the chorizo. The rice was delicious and the beans were creamy. Also the beans are vegetarian, wow! So happy we found this place!

This place is amazing! Firstly, the staff is friendly, efficient and swift. Secondly, this is the place in Memphis to get great authentic Mexican cuisine. The salsa is fresh and delicious. The tacos al carbon and the carne asada are my favorites. No margaritas at this joint but well worth the visit. If you want a great authentic meal, this is the place.

Finally! A good taco in Memphis! If you’re looking for good authentic Mexican tacos, this taqueria is the place, amigos. This is the 7th Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in Memphis, and so far they win the prize for best tacos, in my opinion. I tried the chorizo, al pastor, and carne asada. The chorizo was excellent – great flavor and texture, while not being too greasy. The al pastor was very good, very flavorful. The carne asada was good but I think it would have benefitted from a more interesting salsa than the basic mild tomato salsa that was served with the chips. Of the three meats, I recommend the chorizo. The beans were good, the chips and salsa and guacamole were just okay, not great– important to know going in. They have an extensive menu which includes seafood, and traditional regional items such as posole, which I will definitely be returning to try.

I really like the carne asada. I also love the salsa verse. ¡Muy picante! And I love their flan!
