Sleep Inn at Court Square

BED BUGS. Several people in our group got bitten by BED BUGS. Come to find out it has happened before at this same hotel. It makes you wonder about a lot of things when this is a continual issue. I am out of here!
I will not ever stay here again. It is sub par at best even without the BED BUGS.
The rooms are tiny. It’s not kept very well.obviously.
There are other good places to stay in Memphis!

First of all let me say that the room and hotel itself is great. Comfy beds and clean. Great location and convenient.
Now let me get to the huge problem… whoever the GIRL is who works there in the early morning hours, she needs to be fired immediately!!!
I called and booked the reservation over the phone 2 weeks prior to the trip and told the guy that I spoke with that my mom and I were going to be leaving Houston at 6pm and driving straight through and we would arrive sometime very early Sunday morning, like 2 or 3. Now, I called in this reservation because I wanted him to note my account to ensure that my hotel room would be ready for me when we arrived because we would be extremely tired and ready to sleep. He told me he noted my account and then became very pushy with the rewards program, but that is a different issue all together and I will leave that alone.
The day we left I received a call about 6:30 pm from the lady at the front desk asking me if we were still going to need the room for the night, which was fine. I don’t mind one phone call confirming the reservation. I told her that we did need the room as my mom and I just left Houston and we were heading that way. I told her that I would likely arrive between 2 – 3 give or take a little depending on how many stops we made. At 2:30am I get another call from her asking if we were still going to stay at the hotel. At this point we had just arrived in Memphis and I was trying to use my GPS on my phone to find the dog park where we were going to meet the next leg of our dog transport. So when she called, I had to pull over and take the call since the GPS is on my phone. AGAIN, we told her that we needed the room and we would be there as soon as we were done. Minutes before my mom and I get into our car to head over to the hotel, roughly 3am, she calls again!!! This time she told us that if we were not there in 10 minutes, she would have to release the room to somebody else since my room had not yet been charged!!! Well then Why was my card not charged yet? There was a NBA game there that night and there was not an extra room anywhere in the city. That is why I booked well in advance… so I would have a room when I arrived in Memphis in the wee hours of the morning after transporting 20 rescue dogs from Houston to Memphis. As a volunteer for a dog rescue group in Houston taking my time and my money to do something good in this world, only to be told by some rude employee that she was going to give my room away if I did not arrive in 10 minutes? Since when does she have the right to TELL me what time I have to arrive to have access to a room that I reserved??? On top of that, she charged me $ 13.11 to park in the hotel parking lot which was never mentioned before check-​in. She asked me if i was parking a vehicle and I said, yes. She then handed me a blue ticket to put in window and did not mention a charge. I called the hotel tonight to ask about it and I believe it was the same rude employee that said, «well this is downtown, you have to pay to park everywhere here».
When my mom and I came down to the lobby the next morning, we were greeted with two smiling employees and they asked us how the stay was… I told them the truth. They said that my account was indeed noted about what time I was planning on arriving (glad that the guy that took my reservation actually noted that) and they said they were very sorry about that and would let management know. They were very nice and seemed genuine in their apology.
If you stay here, better make sure you arrive early or risk the chance of the girl at the front desk cancelling your reservation for you. I am just beyond shocked at the lack of respect and professionalism of this young lady. With all of the people out there without work, you would think that she would be more grateful to have a job. She definitely does not deserve a job in hospitality, heck, if you ask me she should not have a job at all with her poor attitude!!!

Came in at 2am just needed to sleep a few hours before finishing the long drive home. Valet parking, not much parking otherwise. Room was clean, beds were comfy, AC worked great! Left about 8 hours after check in, but would stay agin!

Great location near Beale St. Excellent staff, clean well appointed rooms and very good price.

Best bang for our buck in downtown Memphis. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfy. Staff was friendly. Very convenient location. Not a lot of parking spaces, but you can park for free if you find one. They do give you the option to valet your car for a small price.

NEVER AGAIN! Management was rude. No customer service.

Very pleased with our stay. It was only for one night, but there are many reasons for the 4 stars. First of all, the location was perfect. The trolley was 30 feet from the rear entrance. The area around the hotel was lovely and very clean. Within easy walking distance to Beale St. The streets alongside the trolley tracks were very attractive with a lot of trees, lampposts, many benches, and cute shops. The room was clean and decent-​sized and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was small with only a shower stall, but the shower was roomy. The breakfast served was pretty impressive to me since most hotels offer a complimentary breakfast that consists of cereal, a muffin, an apple, or a banana. This hotel includes a hot breakfast with bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and a waffle bar. And the woman at the front desk even gives you a map upon check-​in showing exactly where we were located and the number of blocks to Beale. If I’m ever in Memphis again, I will come back!

Given the amount we paid for the room I was very impressed with the comfort and amenities during our stay. Nice location, short walk to Beale Street. Very friendly staff. Decent hot breakfast.

Excellent room! Cozy is a better word than small, because it is comfortable and has all the amenities. Minor problem with the in-​room safe, but the staff quickly attended to it and it works fine now.

The rooms and service were fine. The staff has always been friendly and informative. unfortunately when you’re on travel, you want to have a nice breakfast. This place was a NO GO. The first day, I go down and there is moldy and bruised apples on display. I got a bagel only to realize after I ate it that there were other bagels on the tray with a dark green powder on them. YUCK!!! The next day I kept with packaged foods. Even the apple juice I got had hard sediment in the bottom. Sorry but this needs to be fixed!!! 2 stars for not seeing this blatant flaw in the food you’re serving

Room was VERY small, and everything was clean but the bathroom. I’ve seen worse, but this was pretty bad! Bed & pillows weren’t very comfortable. The location of the hotel was ok. 7 – 8 blocks from Beale street where all the action is. I think I would tell people to stay elsewhere though.

Front desk staff is rude and unaccommodating. They will talk behind your back if you have a disagreement with them (due to their unaccommodating nature). Considering this is a low end hotel with tiny rooms, you would think that they would make up for it with customer service; not the case here.

Michael at the front desk is a total dick. Doesn’t even look at you when you’re checking in. Other than than that, it’s not bad.

Hotel lobby was clean and updated and check in staff was friendly. The room was small. We are a family of 4 and it was tight. The sink is outside the bathroom with the shower and toilet in a tiny room. But it was clean and updated. My bed was a bit lumpy but sleep able. Location was great walking distance to Beale street and close to the trolley. Can’t beat it for the price. I would stay here again.

Cramped room unless you are by yourself. Pubic hair in between sheets. Shower stall tracks caked with dirt. Small, half size pillows to sleep on.

Pros: The cleaning staff did a great job tidying my room. There is a fridge in the closet, so I loaded up with snacks from the City Market store a few blocks away. The hotel is also in a great location in Downtown Memphis, right on the park and main street.
Cons: Tiny rooms. I usually love lounging in hotel rooms, but this room felt like a small box. Also, the light from the hallway came in under the door, so I had to use an eye mask to sleep. The room was also either too cold or too hot, which was weird. However, my largest complaint would have to be the rude, unhelpful, disengaged front desk staff. To be fair, it seems like it is just the one guy who is rude, but still, it left me with a negative impression multiple times. Don’t work at the front desk if you don’t like people.
I probably would NOT recommend this hotel to friends.

Thoroughly enjoyed the service from the team and to me that is most important in a hotel stay. All hotels have beds, but this one was very comfortable.
Although the room was tiny, the updated room and the breakfast area (with a WAFFLE maker) made up for it. Next time I will choose this hotel and I will choose a suite :-)

I am usually wary of 2 star amenity hotels, but this was quite a pleasant surprise. No, there’s no in-​house restaurant or bar, but it was walking distance to to Beale street, restaurants, bars, Martin Luther King museum, Mudd Island, etc. Also very cool was that the trolley stop was just steps outside the door of the hotel.
As stated in other reviews, the room was pretty small, but it was clean and super cozy with a puffy inviting bed, microwave and fridge to keep your snacks and leftovers.
We had a river view, although you did also stare at the parking lot, there were some nice sunsets.
On the other side of the hotel, you get a pleasant view of Court Square park.
There was a complimentary continental breakfast. Nothing amazing, but it covered the basics you might need with bagels, oatmeal, eggs, waffle maker, etc.
Free wi-​fi, which is nice. The last more expensive Hilton I stayed charged for my wi-​fi. Greedy corporate bastard.
They do charge for parking in their own parking lot. A total peeve of mine which the hotels do these days. But it was on $ 12 which was nothing compared to the $ 30 I paid last month at a So. Calif. hotel. So not bad price, but still not cool.
I paid ~$ 100 a night and that was the cheapest I found at that time, and I was so happy with it. I had tried to find hotels closer to Beale which cost more, but they were all booked up. I am so happy that I ended up with this cheaper place which was still so close to Beale, I didn’t need anything closer and really covered all of our needs. Didn’t need an in-​house restaurant or bar because everything was so close anyway. I would stay here again.

What a great Sleep Inn! This place is high quality with great rooms and a perfect location in downtown Memphis. Parking is reasonable and safe, and my second visit here was excellent!
The continental breakfast isn’t bad, your typical bagels, cereal, waffles but they also have scrambled eggs and sausage. I’m OK with it! The staff is always friendly, though slightly slow with some things, but I really enjoy staying here!

I definitely would stay here again.

1. This guy who works in the evening after 3pm, is not nice
2. The computer in their business center is slow
3. No shuttle bus from and to the airport
I strongly recommend this place if you are traveling to Memphis TN.
