History

Established in 2005.

When Brenda Huff started cleaning up after her father, it led to a new small

business idea. Shred Shop of Memphis is a paper shredding business she opened in extra space at Allen Electrics in Binghamton.

Taking over as president of her father’s company, Allen Electrics, Huff faced the

task of destroying 30 years of accumulated customer and personnel records piled

in the storage area at 318 Collins. Huff bought an industrial-grade paper shredder

and now serves small– and medium-size shredding needs, an under-served market

that even her competition acknowledges. «Shred-It has even referred people to us

because they just can’t coordinate the residential market for their business,» Huff says.

Attorney Katie Ratton, Huff’s daughter-in-law, is helping get Shred Shop up and

ripping. Huff, a CPA, and Ratton, a member of the Tennessee Bar, hope their

professional designations offer reassurance to those with sensitive materials.
