I’ve been here many times on layovers, and while it’s convenient and I enjoy the pulled pork sandwiches, the service lacks and the staff are really slow, which pisses me off, as it seems to me to be common sense that people in a connecting airport like Memphis are all going to be on a tight schedule. On several occasions, it has taken them longer to get my check than it took for me to get my food and eat it! That is unacceptable. Last time I was there, I got the feeling they just wanted to me to leave cash instead of putting on my credit card.

Stopped in for a drink before flying back to L.A. on 11÷4÷12. At least we THOUGHT we’d be having a drink. We walked in and were greeted by absolutely no one. Stopped at the bar and the woman behind the counter would not even acknowledge us. She finally dropped some menus in front of us but refused to make eye contact with any of us. I decided to say hi, thinking maybe she was just having a bad day. She had the nerve to give a sarcastic«hi» back to me in return and then she made an ugly face. The two women with me inquired about ordering bloody marys, at which which point, the server muttered something(not sure if to herself or us) and walked to the back to get something. We decided we’d try our luck elsewhere and ended up at Sun Studios where we were greeted and served promptly by a very friendly and courteous staff. Don’t know what the problem at Rythms is, but they can obviously afford to lose a six customer tab in one fell swoop. Too bad too, Memphis is one of the friendliest cities I have visited in a long time. I was impressed until I encountered the crappy service and ugly attitude of this one employee at Rythms. Wish I had caught her name…

connected through MEM after leaving on the redeye from LAX. stopped by the first place where we smelled some Joe. enter Rythms. looks like a nice place if all of it were open… i. e, not 7am. the ladies at the counter were friendly, even with the french tourists asking to remove the meat from the sandwich so they can have bread with coffee. obviously, a failure to communicate was to be had. but, nonetheless, the girls were patient. the coffee was fresh brewed and plenty of accoutrements(sp). but, it was hard to determine which was regular and decaf due to the lack of signage. oh well, it takes 4 cups for any caffeine to kick in for me anyway. nice spot. oh, and 2 cups of large coffee, less than $ 6. not too shabby.
