The centers comprise the Firefighter Regional Burn Center, Elvis Presley Memorial Trauma, High-​Risk Obstetrics, Wound Center, Newborn Center, Adult Special Care Center, Sickle Cell Center and Bariatric Center.

Had our baby at this hospital. The service we received was excellent. I was really impressed with all areas of this hospital and the people working in it.

Had to be admitted from the ER into the hospital for overnight observation and let me tell you this was a horrible ordeal.
I will say that the ER staff are pretty good and Dr. Smartt is a great doctor.
The problem with this place is that there is absolutely no communication between anyone. I was constantly having to repeat myself to multiple people and when I would ask someone a question they would have no clue.
I was told at 6pm I would be administered antibiotics via IV but that I had to wait for blood work to come back. When I asked a nurse an hour later she said she thought I’d been given the antibiotics already. I said no, then never saw her again. When asked again I was told the blood work hadn’t come back. SEVEN HOURS later I asked again and the nurse said there was nothing on file about any antibiotics. When I insisted they call the doctor, the doctor went ahead and ordered the antibiotics. I then asked «what about the blood work we’ve been waiting on?» The doctor said, oh that has nothing to do with it.
It was a nightmare full of miscommunication and waiting in this hospital and I hope to never step foot inside here again.

The Med serves the Mid-​South area and is the place to go for trauma, burns, and high risk pregnancies. It is a publicly funded hospital so don’t expect fancy lobbies and large rooms. What you will get it expert care in the areas just mentioned.
It is also teaching hospital and serves as a great community resource for the area.
