I had driven past Pita Wraps so many times when it was located on Poplar and never thought to give it a try. Now that I’ve been to the new location — on Park at Getwell — I regret not giving them a chance sooner. Being a first-time customer can be intimidating when you’re not quite sure what you’re getting into, but the owner was as friendly and helpful as can be. He accommodated my diet and told me what was in the ingredients he was using(like the garlic sauce). My food was fresh and inexpensive — how often does $ 5 get you a delicious meal you can’t even finish? And I was treated like a regular — which I’m sure I’ll become.

FYI, I read in the Commercial Appeal online that the guy who owned Pita Wraps on Poplar sold it and opened a Pita Wraps on Park near Getwell. I went west on Park from Getwell and yes, there’s a Pita Wraps kind of across from the RIte Aid(white sign with I think blue and red letters). The guy described in other posts still pushes the chicken shawerma. I liked it fine but would go back to try other things, like the falafel or lamb. He squirted multiple sauces into my pita and would not tell me what was in them, so beware for those with food allergies(guess you can just inquire if there are dairy, nuts, or whatever in the sauces). Definitely, one of them contained a lot of garlic. And one of them he did state was«ranch» [dressing]. The sandwich is essentially a stuffed mega large pita and is very value-friendly. You can get a ton of things in the pita, including pickles, banana peppers, jalapenos, cheese(things I wouldn’t necessarily think of in a mediterranean pita). There are also cucumbers, chopped onions, hummus, etc. Also, just a heads up, when I was there it was just the one guy working there in front(one person seemed to be working in back), so you may have to be patient, because he makes them to order up front. Overall, I would give the place 3.5 –4 stars. This falls into the«cheap but good“‘ category. There were tablecloths inside, but it’s the kind of place with bottled drinks you get yourself and order at the counter.

A friend and I stumbled across this place after sneaking out of work for a long lunch at the Oak Court mall. We had been gone for way too long, so we stopped at the first place that caught our eye – which actually was the Smoothie place next door, but the line was super long so we wandered into Pita Wraps. What a life-changing discovery! I stepped up to the counter, where the grandfatherly owner waited for my order. I decided on the Philly Wrap and was SWIFTLY shut down. «You must try the Chicken Shawarma,» he insisted, «it’s much better.» I did not really appreciate that at all, and insisted that I did, in fact, want the Philly Wrap. At this point he argued with me some more and then, much to my embarrassment, polled the dine-in customers on whether I would like the Chicken Shawarma. Red-faced and in a hurry, I told the Pita Nazi, fine, give me the Shawarma. You guys. Oh, my GOD. The moment I bit into that wrap, I instantly forgave the Pita Nazi for embarrassing me, because without him, I never would have ordered that wrap. Sometimes I have dreams about Chicken Shawarma wraps. And then I am sad when I wake up. Now when I walk in and order the Chicken Shawarma, the kindly Pita Nazi nods approvingly and says, «Good choice!» Though he still teases me about how my wrap makes him«sad, because it is so skinny” – I leave some of his suggested toppings off, much to his disapproval. Save yourself the embarrassment of trying to order something else and just trust me: order the Chicken Shawarma – it is AMAZING.

The pita wraps here are fantastic. I have tried both the Gyros and the Shawarma. Everybody is right about the owners personality. He definitely wants you to try it his way first. But he promises that it’s good, and like has been said before, has a try it before you buy it policy. If you don’t like it the way he makes it, he’ll make you another one the way you want it. The first time I went I got a Gyro, much to his displeasure as he really wanted me to try a Shawarma. I promised I’d come back the next day and try it(I was just really craving a Gyro). I told him Lettuce and Cucumber only(which I got glared at for) and let him pick the sauces. Tried it before I bought it and it was perfect. The second time I went in, he remembered me from the other day. I got the Shawarma wrap like I promised. I let him put it together however he wanted, just no tomatoes. I was a little skeptical about the jalapenos and pickles, but when I bit into it, it was fantastic. Will definitely make this a regular place on my lunchtime menu.

Sitting on Poplar, we’ve driven by this place a gazillion times. Thank you David and Sunaina for your reviews! It’s about time we are able to get a decent falafel in town! This is one place you can get a wrap or… a wrap. I thought it was weird how he mentioned that he was low on hummus but who am I to judge. I would have loved to get an order of hummus and pita but it’s not a choice on the menu anyway. Only sandwiches or plates — and he doesn’t seem to encourage getting plates lol. They aren’t fast here… they make sandwiches order by order and he entertains every customer fairly. But it wasn’t crowded when we went this afternoon at 1pm. Customers sort of waltz in a couple at a time so it’s very manageable… We got the two things he recommended; the two items reviewed, yes, chicken shawarma and falafel :) The wait was worth every minute of it! mmm mmm mmmph! …and yup, the owner of the store and his helper(young college-aged American girl) were definitely very friendly and helpful. He’s funny too! But… not only was the food good, as my husband said, it was very entertaining to see people come in and order and listen to the little banters the owner would start :) Some of the funny things heard this afternoon: customer 1: you scream at me with your eyes(he gave her a look when she said she didn’t want tomatoes) but I’m still gonna’ get what I’m gonna’ get lol owner: what would you like on your shawarma customer: well it’s easier if I told you what I didn’t like owner: he gives her a look customer: cucumbers OR pickles, not both… no jalapenos, no tomatoes, no mayo — I don’t want anything fattening owner: that is not mayo(looking over to us and signaling a laugh from us followed by slathering a thick layer of the mayo aka garlic sauce on) — cheese? customer — SURE!(no ‘mayo but sure to cheese’ — I wanted to slap her and ask her to lighten up and eat what she’s served already) I want to go back tomorrow for lunch: D …and I will ask for extra hot sauce: D even though he threatened that I will eat him broke from hot sauce lol

Absolutely awesome falafel and shawerma wraps!!! Definitely must try this joint, its near the Wild Oats block, on Poplar Ave. Apart from the hummus, the pita is slathered with garlic and cucumber sauce. yum yum !! Beats all the other middle eastern places I’ve tried. Perfect for a quick lunch. Don’t miss it

Sunaina is right — the shawerma wraps are really fantastic. My fiancée and I actually stopped in for gyros and were told by the proprietor, «We’re out of gyros. But try the shawerma wrap! I guarantee you’ll like it!» In fact, he wouldn’t even let us pay for it till we tasted for ourselves that it was to our liking(«Bite before you buy!»). I think my almost-officially better half still craved a gyro… but I was sold. Yum! Bonus ½ star for the owner – great personality!
