Description

Specialties

M. Ford Creech Antiques specializes in 17th, 18th, and early 19th century furniture and accessories. Each piece is carefully selected in regard to quality, condition and uniqueness. Although our concentration is predominately British, we also offer a good selection Continental and American antiques. All furniture offered has a long history of occupancy in the United States.

The decorative arts include ceramics (early Chinese, Chinese export, early continental and English to 1800); a good selection of 17th — early 19th century British silver; including flatware, hollowware, and accessories; and a small collection of 19th/early 20th century tribal rugs.

We also offer paintings by a changing eclectic mix of American and European listed artists, with emphasis on early 20th century American East and West Coast painters.

History

Established in 1995.

The growing demand for her expertise and services, as well as her growing passion for the field, brought about her retirement from painting in 2003, and the opening of a private gallery in 2004.

Since that time, the gallery has received national recognition, and almost sold out on several occasions.

Business Owner

Millicent Ford Creech has been brokering fine antiques since 1993. She initially gained national recognition as a portrait artist.

In 1989, to expand her life-long interest in 18th century antiques and decorative arts, Ms. Creech began formal training in 18th century British furniture, studying the Sotheby’s Furniture and Decorative Arts accredited course with a Sotheby’s associate for three years. She sought out further intensive instruction and tutorage internationally with

some of the world’s leading experts in furniture and decorative arts, as well as in the auction and retail arenas.

The gallery is recommended by Art & Antiques The Magazine Antiques, and by Antiques & Fine Arts. Several weeks of research can go into one small object — connecting it with history, verifying its authenticity, and assessing the quality of artistry.
