Every time I eat at local I am more impressed, the food and service are consistently great. Last week we stopped in and had a great meal and excellent service, I had the TV dinner and the meatloaf was amazing, tangy and perfectly cooked. The other person in our party had the chicken and waffles and was also very impressed. We washed our meals down with a few Ghost River beers and a few great cocktails, definitely a downtown Memphis favorite restaurant of ours.

I’m going to be nice because they seemed to be short-staffed and it could have been an off night. We waited 30 minutes to order and another 45 on our food order, which was still incorrect. The food itself wasn’t bad and the waitress was trying, just couldn’t seem to keep up. Hope they can improve.

Honestly this place sucks. At least the«standards» do. I’m giving one star extra in case I’m a drunk jerk plus one thing we tried was decent. The wings are OK. The pretzel appetizer was really good. The Gouda fondue is AWESOME. The roast pot, on the other hand, was just bloody awful. The texture was somewhere between mushy and creamy. Really gross. And, the fries are even tricked-up. They are seasoned with thyme or something(not appetizing for this Unilocaler).

Came for Brunch… left before I could even place an order. There’s sometimes a delay in being served, I know that — and then there’s being totally ignored for no less than 20 minutes at your table. The waitress stopped by to let us know she’d be with us soon(10 minutes in) and then we walked out when it was 20 minutes. The place was less than half full. There is no shortage of brunch options near the Peabody, and we suggest you seek another place. Put in a reservation at the Majestic or even Slim’s. I’m sure it’s a fun bar with a great environment come night time, but with service that poor, I can’t imagine ever returning.

My fave spot on Main St! Love their menu, their drink selection, and proximity to the hotel we usually stay at! They are also open late, which helps when you’re sitting at the convention center all day. Their Mac and cheese is yummy and I’ve order pretty much all of their salads and loved each and every one of them.

Came here to grab a few brews during the Grizzlies game, and it was my first time at their downtown location. I really liked the atmosphere and the staff seemed quite friendly. They have an enclosed patio, which is pretty cool. I wish the layout inside was a little more accommodating for people trying to get drinks at the bar, but I think that at every bar I go to. The bartender here was super friendly and cool, and so was the server(Ross). I loved their«fire sale,» which was my favorite beer, Gotta Get Up To Get Down. They do a local beer flight which is a must try if you are visiting the city(or even if you’re not). We didn’t order any food, so I can’t comment on that aspect, but this place is definitely a gem of downtown and I’d recommend it for anyone looking for a chill bar to enjoy some good beer at.

This was my first visit and I was very pleased with the quality of the food and the presentation. This location is a little on the small side but do not let that dissuade you from trying it because you will be missing out on a real treat.

Went for Sunday brunch and football. To be fair, the food was fantastic. The service, on the other hand, was a joke literally to the point of laughter. We sat down and noticed that no one had food so decided to try to speed things up by ordering drinks and food at once. 10 min later, the waitress returned to let me know they were out of what I ordered(eggs Orleans), which meant she had just put the order in. 20 min after ordering I had to flag another waiter down to ask about our drinks and it was another 5 – 8 min before we got them. As soon as i actually got my mimosa, i ordered a second, which then didnt come until id finished my btunch. Once my food came out, it was clear she’d only put my order in and not my boyfriend’s so I asked another waiter by letting him know I’d be finished by the time he got his. Great view of tvs, we sat downstairs, upstairs was too loud for our hangovers from Beale Street. I honestly think they must have been under staffed for Sun brunch and/or it was our waiter’s first day. Recommend for the food, if you’re in no hurry!

Happy hour beers now come in a «special» glass, which is only 12oz, instead of 16oz, so happy hour isn’t very happy. It’s a ripoff. The Tuesday burger«special» is a burger with no lettuce, no tomato, no onion. Nothing. It’s another ripoff. Not impressed. I’ll go elsewhere.

Their brunch isn’t very good. Their regular menu is yummy but a bit over priced. Their wings r good, bristle sprouts, burger, tuna salad. Nothing’s every been disappointing except their brunch.

I want to love Local. The atmosphere is great. The bartenders are great. The food used to be great. When I first moved to Memphis 3 years ago, they had such a great menu. Both the lobster BLT and the old spicy chicken sandwich(that was grilled) were amazing! Now it has a reputation of taking something off the menu as soon as people start liking it. There’s nothing worse than coming here with something on my mind only to be told that, SURPRISE!, it’s no longer on the menu. I’ll still come here for drinks, but it’s not my first, second or third choice for food.

I can’t say enough good things about the food here. The flavors are amazing & the food is always fresh! The portions are generous — I always have some left over to take home. What I really like is the unique menu selection. There is a wide variety of dishes I have never heard of or have a fun spin on something traditional. The«Hot Brown» has by far the best turkey I’ve ever had an an open faced sandwich & it’s served in a skillet. Also they have a different twist on chicken & waffles that adds a sweet flavored mayo instead of syrup. Their salads are amazing as well & the dressings… so good!!! I would highly recommend for a date night or a nice family dinner :-)

I visited Local Gastropub for a business meeting, and I was not impressed. The atmosphere is nice, and the staff is friendly, but unfortunately that’s about all I found positive in this place. Service was lackluster, as I got 1 single drink refill in over an hour of being there. I ordered the cheese burger thinking that for $ 15 it had to be something special. I was so very wrong. I’ve never seen a burger so plain in my life. Regular bread, a normal size patty, lettuce, tomato, and a piece of velveeta-looking cheese. I pumped it up with hot sauce to try and get it to taste like something. It was barely a step ahead of a McDonalds burger. If it was just 5 – 8 dollars, it’d be alright, but for $ 15 plus tax I expect much more. The fries were scarce and cold. I would not recommend this place except for maybe a beer.

This place is my safe place. You can always find something you like and I’ve never had to wait. I’m a fan of their pretzels, beer cheese, Brussel sprouts, and lobster tacos. I really wanted to try the Lobster BLT but thinks it’s been replaced with a shrimp roll. My favorite menu item… drum roll please… the bacon blondie… hmmm…mmm…good

Mondays from 4 – 7 has a special on oysters. The raw oysters were acceptable, but not that good. Cocktail sauce was awful! The grilled oysters were good, but not nearly as good as you would get in New Orleans. Love their bar fries. Burgers are very good. Service was not that good. Ate outside, and the servers left our plates out so long, they attracted a lot of flies. When I went to Flight afterwards, the servers picked up the plates immediately. The difference in flies between the two restaurants so close to each other was remarkable. Will be back at some point.

We had a company dinner here this evening. Everything we had was great. The duck quesadillas, lettuce wrap, oysters, and tuna tartar were great. We had an assortment of entrees and there were all good. Plenty of beers and wines to choice from and speciality drinks like the Farmers Daughter as an example of one. We had all three desserts on the menu and I loved the Maple Bacon Blondie.

This place is great. I loved the atmosphere – a true place for locals and travelers alike. There’s outdoor seating. I was afraid it would be cold outside, but it actually ended up being colder inside. This place has some major ceiling fans, but they were nice enough to turn them down. They have happy hour, and wine is only $ 5 a glass. The Sauvignon Blanc is a good choice for a hot day. Watch the bartender. He’s quick, and he’ll keep refilling your glass – which, is actually a sign of a great bartender. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad. It was delicious! I loved the dressing/sauce, and there was a lot of seared ahi tuna – definitely a bang for your buck. It was also one of the biggest salads I’ve ever eaten.

I had a great experience here. I’m traveling for work, so I’m by myself. I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender, Moesha, was very sweet and made me feel right at home. I asked about local beers, and she recommended Ghost River’s «Riverbank Red». I loved it! I also had the fresh clams(great !) and the chopped salad. The salad was gigantic and delicious! The cucumber pico was the best ingredient. Seeing as I was craving a big salad, this meal really hit the spot! Thank you Moesha and Local Gastropub for making me feel at home when I’m in an unfamiliar city!

Lots of people love this place and I have come here enough times to say I tried my best to love it too. The reality is that I don’t. The service is variable, the tables and counters always seem sticky, and the food tries so hard to outstanding but really overall isn’t. It is a good place to grab a drink, however, there are lots of drink spots downtown so that simply isn’t enough for me. So, I’ve had many visits here that were lackluster. Which is fine, maybe I don’t get it. The visit that finally has made me have a strong enough opinion(sadly a negative one) to write a review involved the Pub Burger. It is essentially an expensive burger from McDonalds. The pub burger is served on a bun that has an oily top and a soaked through bottom bun. The patty was ill prepared and messy. The entire burger was a greasy mess. No lettuce or tomato. It was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made food wise. Just disgusting. I’m not sure who pays $ 13 for a burger like this, but clearly it’s a crowd I don’t belong to. Skip the food here(so many better places in Memphis) if you visit. I will say that two good things about this place — the organic Malbec and that they serve Crispin. The good about Local ends here.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in town. On this visit, we had the duck quesadilla for an appetizer and the short rib tacos and lobster tacos as entrees. The duck quesadilla was not quite as expected. It had a slightly odd aftertaste that I didn’t recall. The shell was greasy and soggy. I will not be recommending it anytime soon. The short rib tacos were very tasty! There are three in an order and I could only eat one. They are sooo rich and filling. The lobster tacos are much smaller and lighter. I’m a sucker for a crunchy shell! It was a nice contrast to the shirt rib. The boyfriend mentioned that his bottled beer must have I appropriately cycled through heat and cold. Apparently it tasted off and was way too heady. Although not the fault of the restaurant, the overall vibe was less than enjoyable. We were seated at the long freestanding bar upstairs at a full table. I gave up trying to talk since I couldn’t shout loud enough to be heard over our neighbors. We ended up moving to the end when those spots opened up which helped a bit. In the future, I think I’ll find someplace else if we can’t be seated at a separate table or on the sidewalk. I sincerely hope I have a better experience the next time!
