Kroc Center of Memphis

I just stopped in for a tour and I was impressed by the facilities. They had a ton of classes, GREAT location and a killer pool. I would join just for the pool honestly.
I ended up not joining because of the weight room. Two or three rows of cardio equipment, which was great, but then only two squat racks, a bench or two, pulley set up and free weights and that was pretty much it. The staff said they get pretty packed and there might be a bit of a wait for equipment during rush hour. I stopped by on a Sunday when it was ‘slow’ and everything was taken so I wasn’t looking forward to experiencing full fledged rush hour.
The yoga class I saw was packed too. A lot of people were enjoying there time here. I would say, if you are just into the cardio/​light fitness scene– this is a great option. Their spin class room is so awesome! Just not for a heavy weight lifter like myself.

Since the initial opening the Kroc has fulfilled all of my family needs for health, fitness and entertainment.

This place ROCKS! We are super-​spoiled to have this, and it’s in a great location — close to my apartment! :)
I started going a few months ago, and I LOVE it. COming from someone who hated exercising, this is saying a lot! I love the classes and the instructors are FANTASTC.
Kelly, Laura, Amber, Sage, Hannah — You inspire me.
(There are other amazing instructors, but these ladies are the ones I see the most in the classes I take.)
Classes I take: POWER! Every time I hear the Train song that was used on the legs track last quarter I get an almost uncontrolable urge to start doing squats. :)
I also do core, kick (at least, I used to when it was offered in the morning… as I sadly sigh), active, and centergy. Zumba is popular, but I lack the «sexy gene» that allows for most of the movements. Arms, legs, hips — ARGH! Can’t coordinate it all!
Negatives — showers. Water pressure sucks, and you have to re-​push the knob every ¹⁵⁄₂₀ seconds. But at least it’s hot! :)
Main complaint — the classes aren’t staggered, so if you are doing more than one, you either end up leaving early for one and/​or getting late to the next. PLUS, I don’t know about everyone else, but I need a few minutes to sit down and rest! 30 min between each class would be great.
Also — Kick is only offered in the evening, and I really liked it when it was on Saturdays. Please bring it back or offer it in the morning!

I LOVE The Kroc Center! Not only is it an awesome space with everything you need for exercise and fun (from dinner theatre and church services, to swimming, b-​ball, and workouts), but it is so affordable! A 4-​person household membership costs only $ 50, can’t beat that! Also, all the equipment is brand NEW
I take weekly Zumba classes and really enjoy our instructors and the great workout I receive. They also offer yoga, cardio, boot camp, aquatic classes and an entire list of workout classes daily. I haven’t had a chance to check out the indoor pool yet, but it looks amazing, complete with an indoor slide that goes outside, a wave pool, a splash center and a hot tub!
The Kroc is also very kid-​friendly, offering camps, day care services, and classes and even «mommy & me» classes for moms and moms to be. My favorite part is the AutoZone Challenge Center where you can put your skills and speed to the ultimate test with the obstacle courses and a rock climbing wall.
OMG and the food… so good, and cheap! We ate breakfast here and really enjoyed the eggs and sandwiches.
Nothing bad to report on from The Kroc Center. If you haven’t been, GO!

I visited the Kroc Center as part of a leadership course where we worked on team building activites in the Challenge Center. At first I was a little concerned because the Challenge Centered seemed kind of like and oversized Chuckie Cheese. The group leader also was way more excited about life that day than I was. That being said, once the first activity ended I was on my way to loosening up and smiling. We completed a variety of activities which involved teamwork and problem solving. The activities ended up being so fun! We each were allowed to lead the process for one of the activites and after every couple we debriefed about what worked and what didn’t. It helped us identify the roles we gravitate towards to in a group and also helped us learn more about our strengths. Wish we would have spent more time processing how to compensate for our weaknesses in group settings, but it was just one night and that would be me being picky. Overall though it was great and I left a much more enthusiastic person than when I came in. If you are looking for a team building or leadership activity sort of event I’d highly recommend this. They also do similar activities for birthday parties too!

The Kroc center is a wonderful oasis in the Memphis community. Not only does it have first rate workout facilities, a wonderful aquatic center and splash park. The gym and indoor sports space is great. But there is also a great community center built around all of that. There is a wonderfully diverse section of Memphians that come there. Also big points to Josh Spencer who runs the boot camp classes which will definitely get you in shape.

The Kroc Center is a great recreation center for the whole family.
They offer year-​round classes and camps for kids and adults in art, dance, sports and theatre, etc. The place is always bustling with activities for kids of all ages.
Inside, there are basketball courts and an indoor pool, complete with a slide that goes outside the building, a wave pool and jacuzzi. They’ve recently added a splash center outside for kids, too. Adjacent to the pool is a café that serves drinks and snacks.
Their gym is brand-​spankin’ new. The machines are great, and they have a full class schedule round the clock. I always feel comfortable working out at this facility. There is child care available for parents who are working out at the center, too.
The theatre, which also serves as a sanctuary for church services on Sunday, is easy to access and the perfect space to see a show.
They also offer dinner theatre performances, which take place in their banquet hall.
I can’t rave enough about the Kroc. Whether you’re looking for a gym or a place to bring the whole family for fun, the Kroc is the best, affordable option in the midtown area.

The lack of lap swim times in the evening has prevented me from using my charter membership AT ALL! They have expanded the lap hours and the evening hourse somewhat since opening and more will be needed for me to be able to use it. I work long hours and on weekends and am old enough that I cannot exercise before work or have no energy left to work.

I am a huge fan of the Kroc Center… even though, I cannot vouch for the pool or the splash park since it hasn’t opened yet. I’ve been to work out there for the last two weeks since it opened, and my daughter cries when I pick her up from the childcare, because she loves it so much. The ladies who work the Kid Watch are great and super professional, and the workout equipment is extremely nice. Another plus? The price. You can’t beat $ 50 per month for a family of four, including two hours of free childcare per day. Two thumbs up!
