The Italian Rebel is a great little local gem! The service was fast and friendly. I took the suggestion of a coworker and had the weekly special of veal with spaghetti and salad. Tasty food at a reasonable price!

Normally, I’d pass up a place that looked this mundane. But don’t let its down-and-out façade fool yeah, this is a great place for sandwiches. I wouldn’t take out-of-town company here, but it’s a great place to eat if you’re with a bunch of buddies. I keep ordering the muffaletta and it’s as good as anything you’d get in the Big Easy. They have a large menu with everything from pizza to lasagna, but I go with what I know. Busy lunchtime crowd is proof to how good this place really is. A hidden gem in a rundown part of Memphis near the airport.

Great lunch place near the airport. Friendly family folks run the place. Parking can be tight during peak times.

Great simple place with good sandwiches only open for lunch. The Spicy Italian is the best around

Be aware of their limited hours: Mon. — Fri. 11a.m. — 2p.m. For the limited options in this part of town, this place is pretty good. Their pizza isn’t the highest quality, but it’s light and not super greasy. Their sandwiches are also pretty good. If you like sweet tea or water WITH lemon, you’ll have to settle for lemon juice packets instead. Overall, this place is decent with friendly customer service. I’d recommend it knowing that you’re not walking in with expectations of world class authentic Italian cuisine.

Sandwiches are decent. I had the meatball sub and it was good. The Rebel is a nice change from an ordinary lunch. Good place for a quick lunch if you are near the airport. Very friendly staff.

We found this place thanks to looking for local restaurants using Unilocal. All of my Memphis friends were recommending places downtown, but we had just left the downtown area on the way to Graceland. They sell pizza by the slice, but you can order a whole pizza, as well. Purchasing by the slice worked well for a group of 5 women all with different tastes. We also shared some cheese breadsticks. Everything was good but nothing about the food was exceptional. It’s just basic pizza and breadsticks. The service was pretty awesome. Oh, and they really need to offer bacon as a pizza topping. It was a sad day when I had to order ham instead of bacon.

I’ve probably mentioned that working near the airport has its drawbacks, one of which is too few lunch spots that are really close. This one happens to be a close, local establishment that’s been here for YEARS and has very consistent food quality. What makes this place stand out in my mind is that they make their oun bread products — from sandwich buns to pizza crust. It is a very light white bread that forms a thin crisp crust while remaining soft and light on the inside. When there are so many places to choose pizza and sub sandwiches, its things like this that make a difference. I recommend their Spicy Italian or Muffaletta sandwich. Their pizza is pretty good, though no where in the league of Trolley Stop Café, Hog & Hominy, or other specialty places in town. However if you like anchovies, they use a very good variety here that blows the chain restaurants out of the water… even places like Memphis Pizza Café. I have decided that the owner must enjoy anchovies and much as I do to justify forking over the extra dough in order ot provide something of real quality — briney, but not fishy. If you are in the area and need a quick and inexpensive lunch, this place is worth stopping by for a sandwich or small pizza. Lunch usually runs around $ 7.50 with a drink.

If you don’t like to eat on paper/styrofoam/plastic, then don’t come here. If you don’t mind, then you’ll find good food, served quickly at a reasonable price. LOVED the spinach!!!

A perfect lunch place in Memphis. The service is very quick, and the employees are very friendly. The portions are quite generous. I am not a huge fan of their pastas or pizzas, but they make good sandwiches.(I suggest the reuben.) Don’t let the sketchy neighborhood and dining area fool you, the people and the restaurant are quite nice. The prices on their food are very reasonable considering the portions. This establishment opens around noon. Get here early because the place is completely packed by noon, and you will have a hard time parking!!!
