Have never stayed at the hotel but have been to a few sit down dinners at events. The service has been done but the food is absolutely horrible. Really bad.

I ate here the 2^nd day of the 2015 MidSouth Hiv and Aids conference. We had buffet style. The food included a stuff cod, salad, rolls, a chicken pasta, a beef pasta, green beans, peach and Apple pie. It was really nice. It’s nothing I would willing say let’s go and eat there. It was good for it being free.

Dirty. Walls were filthy, the tv screen looked like something had been spilled on it and never cleaned, mold was growing in the caulking in the shower, broken toilet seat, cheetos were left under the pull out couch, stained carpet and couch cushions. The kitchenette had no supplies: no soap for the sink, no dishes, no napkins or paper towels. There was a layer of dust on the ice bucket and the in room coffee maker. No pool and no free breakfast. The only positives were the friendly employees, complimentary coffee downstairs, and the beds were comfortable although they were small (doubles instead of queens). Definitely an older holiday inn in need of some TLC. Won’t stay here again.

Never stayed in the this hotel but I came for the Mothers Day Brunch. It was great. Plenty of food and drinks. For 34 dollars. Great place to take your mom for a brunch.

Very convenient location. The rooms are very neat and comfortable. Hey free parking and WiFi!

I was with a group from work staying at this Holiday Inn on Central. We unloaded our bags, went in to check in but only to find out that we were actually across the street at The Fogleman. What??? We did’t notice that there was a hotel across the street because the building across the street is an office building.
Long story short, Holiday Inn Memphis-​Univ of Memphis overbooked their hotel and sent us to a dormitory to stay. jeremy at the front desk kept saying the «The Fogelman» was their «sister» property. A dormitory.
I will never deal with Holiday Inn especially at this location.
But, I may say that I did have breakfast and lunch in the dining room. It was very good and reasonable. At $ 9.95 buffet breakfast, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, eggs made to order and omelets, bacon, grits, oatmeal, biscuits and gravy… all was very good.
For lunch, we had lasagne, chicken cordon blue, scalloped potatoes, potato soup, catfish, blackberry cobbler and red velvet cake. No, I didn’t get all I could but I did get all I could eat.
And, the complimentary coffee in the lobby in the a.m. was very good.
One star because I booked Holiday Inn and got holiday overbooked.

This is a pretty nice place to stay, if you want to be close to campus. All rooms are suites and the staff was helpful and friendly. They also offer a free local shuttle. The bed, the most important thing, was very comfortable. On the downside, the property is worn. I wouldn’t avoid it if you want to be close to campus, but you might consider driving in if you are picky about cleanliness or having an elegant room.

Very outdated and a/​c isn’t worth a damn. Lady took forever took check us in.

The title of this review is «Dr. Switcheroo or How I Learned to Always Get it in Writing».
On my first night there, a roach flew out of the lamp on my bedside table. I killed it and left it on the floor – in part as a warning to its friends, and in part because I had a feeling I was going to need to have proof for any complaints. I called the front desk to let them know; nothing happened.
The next morning, at the two-​stars-​out-​of-​five breakfast, there was another roach on the wall behind the omelet station. I pointed it out to the (very nice) woman cooking my omelet and told her it looked a lot like the one that was in my room last night. She let the restaurant manager know and he actually came out to talk to me.
Mgr: I’m very sorry about that. You won’t need to pay for your meal.
Me: Thanks
Mgr: And I understand there was also one in your room?
Me: Yes
Mgr: Have you Paid for your room?
Me: No
Mgr: Good. Don’t. And we’ll get the exterminator in here and up in your room today.
Now, if we’re honest, I thought this might have been a bit Too generous; my stay was for five nights. I had been considering checking out that day, but I was attending and speaking at a conference across the street, and who is going to turn down a free hotel? So I thanked him and went to my room. The front desk called and we scheduled when the exterminator could come to my room (I’d have to be gone). Then I went over to the conference. I was so pleased with the hotel’s response that I called my wife to tell her about it. Not only had they comped my stay, but they sent an exterminator as soon as they knew about it. (Then I remembered that the front desk had been aware of the roach in my room for half a day, so at least the management is responsive, right?)
It almost wasn’t worth it. Every night when I got up to pee, I worried that my next step would crunch. But I got through, and finally it came time to check out.
I was billed for all five nights.
It was 6:30am so there were no managers on duty. I called the hotel when I got back to my apartment, and I got a completely different story. The hotel manager said the restaurant manager told her there was no mention of my room, and he was offering to pay for my food bill instead. I said he offered both. She said no way.
After some discussion, she offered a refund for one night, and stated that her offer was exceedingly generous. I disagreed. I said that all five nights was very generous, and that at a bare minimum I didn’t want to pay for either of the days I encountered a roach either next to my bed or next to my food. I made it clear that I wasn’t concerned that there were two roaches in her hotel, but rather that there were SO MANY ROACHES THAT I COULDN’T GO A DAY WITHOUT BEING WITHIN SIX FEET OF ONE – and I was only in two places in the hotel!
She responded about like you’d expect, and I took the one night refund. But after you expect five, and have a reasonable request for two, one doesn’t feel like much. And I have to say, worrying constantly that I’d have a six-​legged bedmate (or dinner date) while I was there made it completely not worth my time; if I had known it would be anything but free, I would have checked out and stayed truly anywhere else.
In conclusion: If you have to pay any more than zero dollars a night for this hotel, it isn’t worth it. And if you do find yourself going through something that makes your stay zero dollars a night, GET IT IN WRITING.

Awesome service. Nice hotel. All rooms have fridge, microwave, 2 tvs, suite area. Huge shower heads. Great beds. Hotel is ran by U of M students. They take government rates. They are in a great location close to downtown. I would stay here every time I’m in Memphis. The rooms, service, and restaurant are great.

Good breakfast buffet, nice meeting room & service.

I stayed here for four days earlier this spring and it was great! The room was like an Embassy Suites room – sitting area, then a bathroom and then the bedroom behind that. It was very spacious, had nice TVs in both rooms, and a refrigerator. The facility was really clean and the staff was very friendly. I liked the location next to the University of Memphis and it’s a straight shot into downtown.

I am reviewing this for their Sunday brunch, but let me explain that it is a Holiday Inn Hotel located across the street from the University of Memphis. It is a training site for students from the Kemmons Wilson School of Hospitality at the University of Memphis, but it is an all suite hotel that is open to the public and also has a public restaurant, meeting rooms and banquet facilities.
It’s one of the best brunches in town and now that I am a mom with three children and an extended family this has become my brunch location of choice over the past few years. They have Sunday brunch from 11 – 2:30 and it’s $ 19.95 for adults and $ 10.95 for children. It’s a brunch buffet with an omelet bar, a waffle bar, meats, veggies and salads. It’s basic brunch type food, nothing spectacular but good.
I’m a fan of their special occasion brunches where they feature more items. They are held for Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and sometimes Father’s Day. It’s served in the banquet facilities so you don’t have to wait long– which is a bonus with children. The special occasion brunch also features a kids only area with special kiddie food– chicken tenders, mini pancakes, mac and cheese etc. It’s fun because it’s also served on a lower bar area where the kids can actually reach it themselves.
It’s definitely worth a try for brunch.

Um, so I was surprised to find my name on this greeting placard at the registration desk on the lobby. Apparently, it’s a way to welcome Holiday Inn Club Members. First of all, I didn’t know I was one! And second, the others wouldn’t stop making fun of me.
But that has nothing to do with my review.
The room and hotel were really nice! It was a King suite so we had a gigantic king sized bed that was super comfortable and another «living room» area with a fridge, sink, TV, and couch. Everything was super clean. The front desk was nice and wake up calls came on time. No complaints!

Recently had the buffet at the Holiday Inn. The food was fine, pretty good variety. The seafood choices were pretty slim … catfish and little else. Service was good and cleanliness was also good. Overall ambiance was adequet as the room is dark w/​out any windows more befitting an evening dinner. The prices for this selection at $ 20 each was a little high in Memphis, especially since you can have a stunning breakfast down the road at the Beauty Shop in Cooper /​Young. You won’t be unhappy, but you could be really happy elsewhere
