Honestly… we didn’t intend to stop here for lunch. This was our first time in Memphis, and we were doing the touristy thing and headed to Central BBQ. The line at Central BBQ was ridiculous. So, we drove around the block trying to decide what to do… and ran across this place. I am SO glad we did. It was like divine intervention! This place is great. The employees — and owner — were super friendly. The Memphis Gold wings were hands down the best wings we’ve had outside of Buffalo. We ordered the slider plate… one bbq bologna, one pork, one fried chicken. The pork and bologna were good, but the chicken was outstanding. Great food, great service, cold beer and great prices. We will be back for sure!

The food at Double J is underrated. I’ve had several things, and all have been good. The Cobb salad(I know… a salad at a smokehouse) is a go-to and their pizza is some of the best I’ve had. Friends I’ve been with have also loved the BBQ-stuffed potato. Oh and their daily lunch special, meat/veggies/tea or soda for $ 10 is a great deal.

This is a great place to visit and hangout on the edge of downtown Memphis. The servers are nice and sociable. Almost everything I’ve eaten here has been good. The one time I ordered something that wasn’t good they let me order something else and gave it to me for free. I appreciated that. The drinks are usually on point and everything is reasonably priced. The owner is usually there and he normally talks to the customers. Just a great place…

Love the chili and the pork rolls… sweet potato fries are tasty, too. I’ve been kinda disappointed with the ribs lately — the last three ½ slabs I ordered have been overcooked, once to the point of mushy meat… I think I’ll stick to the BBQ joint around the corner for ribs… kudos to the wait staff — they are always very cheery and helpful!

OK so I didn’t think I’d like this place. To be honest, it reminds me of a tourist trap at first glance… but it is SOMUCHMORETHANTHAT! I ride horses, so I dig the rustic country western theme… but what I dig even more is the insanely low prices! I got completely hammered for $ 25(and that includes a grilled cheese and mac and cheese… I like cheese… don’t judge me. Yes, I know I’m basically 5 years old). But think about that… hours of fun for $ 25…anywhere else and that $ 25 would have been at least $ 50. And the servers are super nice! And you can watch the game there! Not that I do… but my guy friends appreciate it. And lastly, did I mention the AWESOMELYLOWPRICES?!

We stopped in on a recent Wed. to catch the Grizz game. There was live music downstairs(no sound on the game of course) but the bar upstairs has several TVs with sound on. There are usually some kind of beer specials(2 – 3 bucks for draft beers) most game nights. A great selection of pub grub as well as Bbq, try the ribs, smoked right outside the back door. Just walking by the place will make you hungry. Not in the mood for Bbq? The menu is extensive including steaks and even Pizza.

We are on the balcony so I’m not catching the bar. Looked nice enough on entrance and they had live entertainment.

Your girl is down with the J! The food knows how to make you go nomomon. The live music knows how to work it. No diggity, they can bag it up. And the drinks can make your pappy whip the mayonnaise. Ha! This is truly a cool spot for everyone over the age of 21 who likes to pour up, drank, eat, & sang. But hold on! I would be remiss if I didn’t share how they have fun going up on a Tuesday. There’s trivia that starts at 7:30pm and it is off the chain. Plus note that if you know a lil something something, you’ll score big time with all kinds of goodies. Shots! Shots! Shots! Everybody!!! (o.O)) Yes, I am hollering.

This is a great lesser-known barbecue restaurant in Memphis. It’s just down the street from Central Barbecue, which is my favorite barbecue place in Memphis, but Double J’s is great. It definitely feels like more of a bar than Central, which is great. It’s nice to go somewhere that feels more like a dive bar than a restaurant. Their sliders are my go-to menu item. I love the fried chicken, which is tender and moist and not too heavy-feeling. The kielbasa is very smoky and delicious, and the pork slider is more brisket than pulled pork, which is a nice difference from most of the barbecue in Memphis. I love this place: great food, good service, plenty of televisions, and Wiseacre on tap.

Double J is my new favorite place downtown to watch football on the weekends. They have a ton of TVs and the food is actually pretty good for a place that is centered around the bar. The bartenders are nice and the service(for drinks and food) is fast. The BBQ nachos here are really good. Although, I’ve been starving and a few beers deep when I’ve had them, which probably bumps them up on the delicious scale. They use nacho cheese on them. Bonus points. Their wings have great flavor too. They have a decent selection of draft beer, and any place that has Wiseacre’s Gotta Get Up to Get Down on draft is a winner in my book. If football isn’t your thing, try to come on a night with live music, or pop in before a Grizz game and you can ride in the Double J limo to the Forum. Double J is the place to be on South Main!

Really great food here. Nice outside seating and pretty quick service on trolley night for us. Local pub atmosphere with lots of regulars and really good management. Love the limo ride to Grizzlies games as a courtesy.

I have never been here before but heard really good things. Came to watch the Grizzlies and meet up with some friends. They had some really good beer specials and plenty of tvs to go around. Didn’t know what to expect with the food but was blown away! Ordered the hot wings and I can say it’s one the best I’ve ever had. Also tied the ribs and they were stunning! I will make sure to stop here every time I am in Memphis

This review is based solely on the experience that we had at the bar for trivia. We Californians were welcomed so nicely from the staff and especially the bartender Susie. We had such a blast playing trivia and we even won a free round of shots for winning the best team name! I didn’t try the food but it seem like they had a lot of food specials!

I enjoyed their pulled pork a lot. I like the 3 different types of sauce, mustard/vinegar/regular. This was a good experience! BBQ was really top notch for Memphis.

I didn’t go to the restaurant itself… but did you know there’s an upstairs bar with a jukebox and late night menu?! aka The Loft. Had the pulled pork and fries, it was a bit on the lukewarm side… but what can you expect for BBQ in the late night? I paid money for the Touch Tunes jukebox on the app on my iPhone, but none of the songs went through… bummer! Either way, nice little spot to get out on South Main.

It didn’t do it for me. The old west saloon theme was a little chintzy. The food wasn’t great. The BBQ nachos were okay. The grilled cheese with bacon was a bit greasy and less«toasted» than I like. The bacon tasted a bit cheap. They left the membrane on the ribs. And the worst — my friend ordered a salad with no cheese. It was delivered with cheese. It happens. She sent it back. It was«remade» and sent back out. They had clearly lifted the clump of cheese out and warm chunks of it clung to the chicken and lettuce. That’s a deal breaker for me. The service was great. The live music, Landon Moore and Chris Johnson, was wonderful. I’ll be catching the show elsewhere in the future. My two star review was bumped to a three due to friends having a better opinion than me.

I have to say, the first time I went to Double J’s I walked in and walked right back out. But I thought I would give it an actual shot since I have heard such greats reviews about it. Plus the people I was with wanted to go and who was I to say no! :) I went here last night with a few friends and instantly loved our waitress. She was so kind and bubbly. I wasn’t looking for a huge meal so I thought I would try the BLT. When I saw they had it on the menu I instantly wanted it. Then she told me that they serve fried okra! Oh man. I was so excited at this point. I LOVE fried okra. I can never get enough. I ordered the brownie with ice cream for dessert and it was tasty. I left nothing on my plate! Overall the company was great, the food was great… I will be coming back!
