Destination Vacation 365

I can’t believe I just threw away close to $ 5,000 on Destination Vacation 365’s SCAM! My husband and I were so excited at the possibility of traveling at a rate we could afford now that we are retired. We have worked hard all our lives to raise our children and save our money so we could enjoy ourselves. Our salesman, John Brown was «slick» and knew the right buttons to push. The entire 90 minute presentation turned out to be bogus as well as the gift voucher for 2 airline tickets worth up to $ 1,300. in the continental United States (3 failed attempts to collect).
On 4 different occasions I have tried to use either the hotel or cruise «deals» through Destination Vacation 365 and found that I could purchase them much cheaper directly through the cruise lines, Costco or the internet. I called to cancel my membership and get my money back and was told basically, too bad. Where else can one go to file a complaint? I’m sure my money is gone, which is my motivation to join a class action law suit against this company and shut them down so they can’t defraud other people with their lies.

Update: After we contacted our bank, the bank contacted DV365. A few days later the transaction was reversed and removed from our charge card account. Therefore, in this transaction DV365 acted appropriately and I give them an additional star for their responsible behavior. I truly wish that during the sales seminar the DV365 staff had told the truth, because I liked their value proposition and really wanted their offering to be real enough to risk the multiple-​thousand dollar investment that was called for.

BUYER BEWARE — NOTHING THEY SAY IS TRUE. The marketing company hired by Destination Vacation made us believe we would receive two free airline tickets if we attended a 90 minute presentation. We found out at the very end of the presentation that there is a $ 109 fee from the marketing company per ticket just to use the tickets on top of the «other fees». The PowerPoint presentation indicated that Destination Vacation has a A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB), able to provide 35 — 75 percent cheaper hotels, resorts, cruises and condos from around the world. After the price going from $ 8,000 to $ 2300 and four hours later we were foolish enough to sign on the dotted line. Once we got home we did a little research. First looking at the BBB web site Destination Vacation rating is a «D» not a A+ as informed. The next day we were given a temporary password to look at supposedly great deals on the
web site. Disappointed again on several fronts. i had a business trip to South Carolina and was able to obtain a better rate calling the hotel myself. I also checked on a Alaskan cruise for June 2014. The price on Travelocity was the same price as the web site. And if you want to purchase airline tickets they sent you to the web site
. Another one of their selling points is Concierge type service. I tried the VIP number three different times throughout the day and was placed on hold for over fifteen minutes and then the line went dead. Luckily for me my wife found a form within all the paperwork that we had five business days to cancel our policy. Gee they never told us during the presentation. We forwarded the required paperwork and followed up with a phone call. I was finally able to talk to Ryan who indicated he would cancel our membership within 3 – 4 business days. I kinda got the feeling from Ryan’s voice of «here is another cancellation». Currently we have received an email from Destination Vacation of our intent to cancel our membership but still no credit back to our credit card account. We will see…

I just sat through their 90 minute presentation. I did not buy and am glad I didnt. The name on their marketing material did not match the name of the company nor the reservation service for their supposed free tickets. I researched the company when I got home and there is no BBB rating as opposed to the A+ in their presentation. The fine print to cash in on the free tickets are outlandish and not previously disclosed. They provided no phone number for follow up. I think it is a complete scam

I sat through the 90 minute presentation and thank god did not fall for it. I did expect the reward at the end. I was promised a travel voucher for two airline tickets. The process to get these tickets is going through yet another company trying to sell you (Passport to travel). They ask you to send in a voucher with a $ 4.95 check and then they will send your vocher. The voucher arrives 30 days later with a request of a $ 100 money order to «reserve» your flight, another 30 – 45 days. The next step is another $ 59 per ticket fee to see if the flight is available. The flights are limited and they charge you $ 200-​$ 300 in service fees. The entire process took months and the flights ended up being more than a regulary booked flight. Don’t waist your time or money on either company. They are both scams!

Please google this company (reservation Services International), Destination Vacation changed their name to 365 from 360. The parent company is Reservation Services International and it would be wise to do an internet search beyond the link above. When my husband and i sat through the seminar, we were excited at many of the potential trips at reduced rates and we knew we had 24 hours to cancel (which we did) after our research and discrepencies in the presentation of their company. There is no BBB rating and it’s certainly not A+ or B-​. Despite all those reasons, we complied with their cancellation policy and I’m still fighting almost 14 days later to get them to even notify our credit card company to refund the amount. That means they are tying up our credit to make their own numbers look better, don’t float our money for 2 weeks or more! Oh, you’ll get a call back, even from a manager (Kyle is who I spoke with) BUT their promises never pan out. When you’re getting a refund from any organization, it almost always shows up next day as ‘pending’. One of the interesting tactics are notifying your/​their personal travel agent, which we did right away to ask them to search a trip AND/​OR have them tell us about the deals you have on the table right now. They couldn’t even do the later which was suspect and conveniently wait until after the 24 hour cancellation process to give you any feedback. We of course were wise to that and cancelled in time but decided to play their game to see when they got back to us. They called every day saying that they were ‘still looking’! Then we were told about their «smokin hot deals» and when we asked to find out about that same «Vail» trip, it was over 4K instead of the $ 400 something that they touted for a weeks stay with lift tickets. BUYER BEWARE! The tacky marketing letter that came out raised all sorts of red flags but when you call, they assure you it’s not any kind of a time share… I love traveling and usually never fall for the scam but we both thought there was great possibility until we did our research. DO YOUR RESEARCH! The really frustrating part is still trying to get our money refunded!
