The company has been recognized as one of the top 10 wine shops in America by the Wine Spectator’s Market Watch Magazine and has been voted #1 Liquor Store in Memphis by the Memphis Flyer’s Readers Poll. Buster s Liquors & Wines also publishes the Drinks magazine, which is a quarterly lifestyle publication designed for lovers of fine wine and premium spirits. History
Established in 1954.
Buster’s has been owned and operated through three generations. What started as a modest little store on Bellevue In south Memphis has become a beacon for customers from all over the region who travel miles to come shop with us as Busters is TN’s largest volume retailer servicing over 350,000 customers annually!
The founder RM «Buster» Hammond passed in 2008 at 97, but left an incredible legacy to his family. A more detailed description of our interesting history with photos can be found on our website. It is a true tale of determination, brawn, and luck.

Josh H.
Business Owner
Josh Hammond is President of Operations. He joined the family business after graduating from The University of Alabama Business School in ’93 and has since brought Buster’s into the 21st century with his fresh perspective and attention to detail. His affinity for technology helped Josh spearhead our transition into a modern web era with the launch of our new e-commerce website just last year featuring every product we carry in the store. In addition, his philanthropy is well known throughout the community; and his commitment to quality control and customer service has bean integral part of the store’s success. Josh has traveled to Italy, France, Australia, and Chile, as well as throughout California and Washington State learning more about wine.
