I’m not going to lie. Book Traders has a pretty excellent young adult section with reasonable prices. Too bad you can’t use credit to get any of them. Credit you received from trading a huge bag of old, but well cared for books. I love to read heavy thick books, but they would only allow me to get small skinny books. It’s basically the Gamestop of bookstores. You give a decent game you payed $ 30, and they only offer $ 7 for it. Shop here if you really just want to get some books out of your hands. They might not take them, though.

A great used book store in Memphis. There is a wide selection of different genres with a large variety of fiction and romance(if you are into that). There is not that large of a selection of philosophy, which bummed me out. However, if you like used book stores, you will really like this place. The prices may be a bit higher than the average used book place, but nothing outrageous.

If you are looking for best sellers and common books they have them. Large well organized fiction selection. I usually come out disappointed since I mostly look for less common nonfiction. In many years going there I doubt I have bought more than 10 books, and I buy hundreds of books every year.

This place is pretty huge. You can trade in books and buy them with the credit. Apparently there’s a $ 20 limit for spending your credit, which is a shame because my sister has quite a bit there in credit. They won’t take library resale books that have the library labels on them. I personally probably won’t use this place for a bit as I mostly buy books from the Collierville library at discount. However, they do have a great selection and I will come here next time I go to buy a book online as their prices are about the same as what you can find online(but without the shipping costs).

nice spot to find books an sell books too, found myself wandering off in different genres of lit that held my interest. Maybe because of the space, I just want to see what treasure I can find! A book Thrift store is what i like to describe it as!

I was very pleased with the size of this store, their effective use of their space to maximize the number of books they can have on hand, and their excellent pricing. The guy that was working the store was really friendly as well. Also, I’m a pretty big sci-fi reader, and their selection is one of the best you’ll find anywhere.

I’m a huge fan of Book Traders. Not only do they have a rather large selection of GOOD book choices, but they also allow you to trade in your previously read ones. Granted, they need to be in nice condition. They’ll give you either store credit or cash– half the value of what they can sell it for. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a better deal than finding the time and energy to list them on Amazon or Ebay. I’d also much prefer to get some sort of money for my ridiculous selection of books than just give them away. Fair warning– if you want to trade in a hard back you need to have the dust cover. Huge for someone like me, as I tend to take them off and shove them in a drawer or toss them in the garbage can. I much prefer the look of them sans jacket on my book shelves. So, before you go down there with 20 pounds of hard backs in tow, make sure you’ve got those little jacket gems you originally purchased them with. As an added bonus, they take book requests and will keep an eye out for anything you might want. A great idea if you don’t mind waiting for a better price.

I thought that they had a pretty large selection of paperbacks. The place reminds me of a library(although not that large) — it’s a series of tall library shelves filled to the brim with used paperbacks of various condition — from well-worn and loved to nearly perfect condition. The deal at this store is that you can bring your read books in, and if they take them, they’ll give you money for half of what they can sell them for. A pretty sweet deal, when normally they’d sit on a shelf. Paperbacks are sold for half the original price, hardcovers are a fraction of the original price — it’s marked on the first or second page — I picked one up and saw $ 9.95 marked on a $ 30 book. There’s a ton of fiction — a good sci-fi, romance, young adult novel section, and a children’s section.

Book Traders has a smallish but nice selection of used books. They only accept first-quality books in trade so their shelves are full of very nice looking books. You can trade your unwanted books for store credit or for cash. If you opt for store credit then you can expect more money than if you ask for cash. And if you trade-in hardcover books money goes into a part of your account that applies to purchasing any format book. But if you trade-in paperback books then you’ll only be able to buy paperback books with that money. There is no place in the store that details their policies and unless you ask you won’t know until you it becomes an issue. That leads me to the one thing that cost Book Traders one star. The man that runs(owns?) the store, though nice, is generally not very outgoing or personable. Sometimes he says«hello» when I walk in and sometimes not. And I was in there today listening to him explain the paperback/hardcover policy to a new customer. The guy never really did get the full story because he didn’t ask the right questions. It shouldn’t be that way. Publish the policy somewhere or take a couple minutes to explain the store policies to new customers. They offer books in fiction, classics(good place to check if you are looking for lit books for school) religion, sports, science fiction, science, local, some large print, some collectible and quite a few dealing with military history. On the whole, Book Traders is an excellent resource for used books — paperback or hard cover but it could use an upgrade in the personality department.

Fairly decent selection of books and they will take hard back trade-ins. Unlike the other used bookstores in town, they will give you cash for your books. I always want book credit instead of cash, thus I do not know how much money one would get for trade-ins. What I also like about Book Traders is that you can ask to be put on their e-mail list. They will send you discount coupon information to buy books at the store. They do not bombard you with e-mails nor will they sell or distribute your personal information to another party.

I’d completely forgotten about this place till I stopped by on a whim last night, even though the Schnucks next door(Quince near Ridgeway) is a daily stop for me. Burke’s it ain’t, of course, but in the desert of inner suburbia, even a small literary oasis is incredibly refreshing. The variety of books is decent, prices are cheap, and the staff are more than willing to keep on the lookout for books you’re looking for – just let ‘em know(in person or via the store’s Web site).
