A Better Fit Alterations

I came to A Better Fit hoping they would correct the work another seamstress made. I did not regret it. Completely overjoyed that they saved my wedding dress.
Sandy and her seamstress were professional in each of our meetings, were very skilled and detailed in their work, and showed great dedication in making me happy with their alteration services. Each visit was so pleasant. Sandy listened to each concern I had and I valued her inputs. My wedding dress was fairly complicated so it took 4 fittings to get it right. The style had a slight mermaid look to it and was lace.
The dress was ready for a fitting each visit. They were able to complete the work in 1 month where my other seamstress had my dress for nearly 4 months and did a horrible job with it. This is what I had done to my dress: decrease bust, arm whole reshaping, reshape the v-​shaped back lacing so it would stop drooping, hips, length, bustling, and installing a hook over the zipper. The average cost of the work done (about $ 300 – 400) was a bit pricier than the one I went to before. After they found out what the other seamstress did to my dress and refused to refund my money, Sandy felt so bad for me that she offered me a discount so they can help make it right. Even without the discount, I felt it was well worth it for the quality of work and care I received. I only wish I could have gone to A Better Fit in the first place.
This might sound silly but I love how well they run their business. Always on time as promised, accurate, professional, respectful, highly skilled, and absolutely caring!

I walked in and had a bridesmaid’s dress pinned up for hemming. I came back in 6 days and picked up the dress– which was beautifully hemmed. Everyone I spoke to was very pleasant and accommodating and I felt that the pricing was very fair. I haven’t had anything dry cleaned here, but based on my great experience with the alterations would definitely be open to it. Next time I need something altered down the line, I’ll be very happy to come back to A Better Fit.

I made an appointment and was seen the next day for an alteration job on a bridesmaid dress. Sandy is great! She is very welcoming and quickly had my job completed! I highly recommend this business!

I walked in and was seen immediately! I only had one business skirt that I had to tailor down in the waist and hips (lucky me haha), and she pinned it and had it fitting me perfectly in a minute. Normally when I go to get things tailored I have to ask for several adjustments after. the initial pin, and it takes several tries to get it just right. The worst is when I actually get the item of clothing back and the seams seem poorly done or it still doesn’t fit they way I wanted it to. Sandy was so great and professional,
I am confident it will fit like a dream.

First a review of A Better Fit Alterations then on to Drake Cleaners: Sandy is a dream. Appointment scheduled to alter a dress. I forgot the shoes I was going to wear but because a) I live close by and b) the wedding dress fitting appt scheduled after me showed up an hour early expecting Sandy to ‘squeeze’ them in so they could go to lunch later I went home to grab the shoes (+ another pair — you never know) and returned to flip through a couple of magazines waiting for Miss Sally-​Sue Junebug of the Germantown Junebug’s to get through her fitting. After an engrossing article on the newest trends in bouquets I was next.
I’m being a bit sarcastic about it but I didn’t hold the inconvenience against the shop. I had other errands to run so my schedule wasn’t conflicted. In truth I was rather amused that Miss Sally-​Sue and Mater didn’t even notice they jumped in front of me. Ah, the bliss of a shared delusion of entitlement.
After Sandy helped me choose the best shoes for the dress, pinning it so well it almost looked finished, we had a grand chat as she was familiar with the area where I was traveling.
When I returned to pick up the altered dress it was ready, cleaned and pressed. This is something, having had trouble with other local cleaners, I don’t take for granted. I adore her & I’m grateful for the referral.
Sandy gets my alteration business for life. My sewing machine is re-​tired!
