Top Shot Class

Great class, excellent instructor. I have been shooting for over 38 years and a group of us recently took our conceal and carry class for the state of Utah at Topshot. We were so impressed with our instructor that we immediately booked and paid for a second class for our Florida conceal and carry permits. Now that we have completed it we are on the waiting list for our 3^rd class for our Illinois conceal and carry program as soon as the state of Illinois finalizes the curriculum.
Our instructor Andy treated us like family, he answered every question we had with professionalism and courtesy and was very knowledgeable. we were honored to be a part of his classes.
I have attended many firearms classes in my shooting career and this class and classroom is first rate… especially compared to the others I have been to.
Andy was by far the best instructor that I have encountered. Most instructors I meet are like mono toned military regimented robots that makes it a very BORING experience.
I wasn’t going to mention this but I would be doing a injustice to Unilocalers to ignore that earlier posting… after my two experiences with Topshot and attending two classes that Andy taught I was shocked to see that post, the comments are out of line and sound like the grumblings of someone trying to learn on the cheap. Everyone knows range time is extra and billed separate from class.
I wasn’t aware that the conference room where we attended classes was where Andy lived but it was the total opposite of her posting. It was a nice, clean comfortable, safe, undistracted and PRIVATE atmosphere to learn in (no guns going off in the back ground to distract you like most places). I can only think that the person that posted this was likely new to shooting and hasn’t experienced very many other locations nor their instructors. Then to say the place is a scam can only be the furthest thing from the truth! If you were unhappy then I can see posting it but to make this type of irresponsible claim is Ludacris, especially when ALL hardworking firearms instructors (Andy included) are regulated by the states, they have to comply and teach by very heavily regulated standards laid down by the states that license them.
Part of the reason they make you read out loud (off posters and books) is so they know you are paying attention and participating in the class. After all we are dealing with firearms that can be deadly their not toys.
The reason its so important to be on time for class is it’s usually followed up with range time to prove what you learned in class, If your not on time it backs up the next classes shooting lanes and anyone that has ever experience that knows how frustrating it is to lose your lane because some other person thinks there TIME is more valuable than yours. Anyway I am extremely glad I didn’t see this persons posting before taking my first class at Topshots it is way off base.
If your interested in professional firearms training I highly recommend them.
Don’t just take my word for it you can judge this for yourself, call other companies, then call Topshot and compare the time, knowledge and personal approach that Andy shares with you on the phone… only then you will see for yourself that as a instructor he is TOPSHELF!
We have 2 classes completed and qualified with them, now were waiting on the State of Illinois best of shooting to everyone.

I bought a LivingSocial coupon that advertised a three-​hour introduction to firearms course at Top Shot Class. I was under the impression that we would go over basic safety practices and then get some time to shoot on a range. In actuality, this course was held in a dingy meeting room of a run-​down apartment complex where one of the instructors lives. I actually sat next to a rusty, broken furnace.
The instructor (Andy) was condescending and irritating. He said that the class started at 10 am, and when I got there, he was waiting for me in the lobby and accused me of being late. I looked at my phone and it read 10:01. My friend got lost and came about 10 minutes late, and the instructor was so anxious to start that he jumped right in without waiting for her, even though I told him that she was on the way. Although we did spend some time going over some practical tips such as shooting stance and learning how to load a gun, half of the class consisted of the instructor telling the participants to take turns reading to one another. He literally pointed at a diagram of different parts of a gun and told us to read aloud what it was, as if we didn’t know how to read for ourselves.
After a painful hour and a half, the instructor then said that the course was broken into two parts, 90 minutes of classroom instruction and 90 minutes of practice on the firing range. He put a sign-​up sheet at the front of the room and explained that we would have to pay $ 52 extra for the second part of the course. This place is a freakin’ scam. I thought I paid for a three-​hour course, in actually only got half of that (which was a terrible experience in and of itself), and was told I had to pay extra for the second half? Oh hells no. I complained to LivingSocial and got a full refund. If you had a terrible experience like me, don’t let this place get away with taking your money!
