Norm’s Heating & Air Conditioning

Wow… what professional and HONEST service! Bill was so wonderful explaining everything and not trying to nickel and dime us by selling unnecessary things we didn’t need. Truly great service. Fixed everything without question. Formerly… Norms Heating… H&l has really stepped up. Thank You!

This business now operates as H&L HVAC, Inc. I called them because I had worked with Norm’s in the past (distant past) and had a good experiences. We did have a good experience with them in the fall when we got the furnace checked out. But that was not enough to give them more than 1 star.
Today I called because my disconnect box for the A/​C had fallen apart. I told them this on the phone when I asked for service. J. came out and confirmed that I needed a new disconnect box (!) and left to go get one. Before leaving he told me the box would be $ 285 plus the $ 82.50 service call charge.
I was floored as I had already looked up online how to replace the box, and with the right tools it is fairly quick and easy and the part surely could not be that expensive. So before he returned I googled and found boxes that range from $ 15 to $ 75 dollars. I called the office and asked why they were overcharging and asked for an itemized bill.
J. informed me that he did not know how much anything costs (?!) — he just gets it from the store and they charge the company. But the office manager called him back and told him to charge me $ 225 now (down from $ 285). But by then I had googled the exact model number, so when J. finished I called the office and suggested I just pay what I think is fair for the box — $ 28.80 (market retail price plus shipping from the website). I asked how much they charge for labor per hour — I was willing to pay for an hour even though half an hour had been spent going to get the box. Neither J. nor the customer service rep could tell me how much they charge per hour for labor! Really?
So I ended up giving them what I believe to be a very generous amount under the circumstances — $ 211.30 which included $ 28.80 for the box, $ 100 for one hour of labor and $ 82.50 service charge. And for that they get this crappy review and a post to the BBB website.

This horrific place continues to bilk innocent seniors and is obviously protected by the city fathers who should have closed down this operation. They continue to renew his license.

I wish I could give zero stars. Norm’s is the worst. They have no clue as to what they are doing. Why is it 90 degrees outside with air on full blast in my home and it feels alot more comfortable outside. The owner and employees also need a lesson in customer service. I spoke to a «gentleman» I assume it was Norm and was greeted with the most condescending attitude. I tied to save a buck when I should have just went to Four Seasons. Please stay away from Norm’s. After thousands of dollars I sit here melting away.
