The inspiration for the Rolli Sandwich came from a soldier in the US Army when he was stationed abroad in Frankfurt Germany. While there, he fell in love with the quality and the ethnic influences of the food. Although he was glad to return to the US, he started to notice a small craving for the sandwiches he often enjoyed in Germany. As time passed, that craving grew and manifested into an obsession. It was this obsession that led the soldier to pursue and receive a culinary degree, and then spend even more time honing his culinary skills in some of the finest establishments in the nation. Soon he was as skilled with a knife in the kitchen as he was on the battlefield.
A few years and many modifications later, the soldier modified his spice blend one last time, and the Rolli sandwich was born in the USA. Rotisserie roasted Porkloin, some cheese and toppings, a signature ROLLI remoulade all served on a Kaiser roll. The rest… well you’ll have to come and taste it for yourself!

While serving in the U.S. Army, Stationed in Frankfurt Germany, I fell in love with street food. Quality was supreme and ethnic influences were abundant. One Roasted pork sandwich would rise to the top of my taste bud cravings though.
After returning to the U.S. it was clear that my beloved Pork sandwich was no more to be had, so I went to work reproducing it. I earned a culinary degree at Johnson and Wales College in Rhode Island and for Thirty years practiced the art of cooking in fine dining restaurants, Hotels to mom and pop small places and street food venues.
In 1995, after refining the spice blend one last time. Rolli opened it’s first Kiosk or mobile kitchen location in Richmond, Virginia. It was a huge success and the concept grew to three locations in four years. It is gratifying to have seen so many people express the same passion and excitement for this uniquely delicious sandwich. Funny, after all the fine cooking along the way, Nothing compares to a Rolli sandwich!
