Best crab dip I’ve ever had first that ever actually tasted like crab! Great crab cakes and gumbo. We actually went there to hear the entertainment but I probably will stop in every time I’m in the area.

Well worth the time spent there. Friendly staff and a great crab bucket. Many other items to chose from on menu. Would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t s little pricey for crabs.

We have been to Jakes several times over the last two weeks. Although it is in a strip mall type setting, once you are inside the vibe is relaxed and fun-loving thanks to the eclectic south Florida decorations and the energy of the staff. We enjoyed a crab pot one might that was very generous and delicious. On another occasion we split a crabcake sandwich and caesar salad which were both very good. Our waitperson, Jessica, was delightful.

We found this place by doing a Google search for best seafood in Melbourne. I don’t know why this has gotten low reviews, because we had a great experience there. We were visiting from out of state and wanted a simple and delicious good seafood with a dive bar type atmosphere. This was perfect. We got a dozen raw oysters, which were fantastic. We got 16 peel and eat shrimp, which were deliciously seasoned. We also got a crab cake that was more crab and less cake and came with a black bean and corn salsa on top. I had margarita which was perfectly made. We sat at the bar and had excellent fast and attentive service. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely be back.

I can not confirm the bad reviews on this place, I had lunch and some $ 1.50 drafts. My Philly steak sandwich was very good, it came with slaw and fries, both also good. the deserts looked great. the other people there seemed comfortable and content. 4 huge tv screens for sports, a nice bar and only fair selection of «craft» brews.

This is my second visit. First time in was for oysters, which were good even though they only had 6 left. Popped in for lunch a few days later(oyster special day) and they had none! So tonight I’m in for a few beers and some sports. Not sure if I’ll order any food yet(not oysters!) but I’ll follow up with a review on my review if I do. Update: I forgot to mention the live music! Added one star to my rating. Update: I really can’t tell if they are understaffed or poorly managed or simply inefficient. Every employee looks like they are doing the work of 3 people. I’d love to order the calamari but it doesn’t appear they could handle the extra work. I spent 15 minutes online finding the DirecTV channel for the barmaid to put the NLCS on TV. Pitiful. Removed 2 stars from my rating for poor service. Update: Ordered the calamari and it was great but I’m sticking with 2 stars out of 5. The staff are cordial enough but the overall experience wasn’t good. They were maybe 50% capacity as far as customers vs. empty seats. And I’m being generous on that. From the time I walked in the door they seemed overwhelmed even though they were only about 25% at capacity. Really doesn’t appear to be any management here. I’d guess it was bought by somebody that had some extra money but zero clue as to how to run a restaurant. Predict they’ll be out of business within a year. Great spot though… if you’re an entrepreneur and looking to make some cash, this could be a gold mine. Probably will be on the market before too much longer.

I had a crab sandwich and fries. The food was overly salted to cover up the lack of flavor. The service took a LONGTIME. There was only one waitress serving everyone and working the bar at the same time!!! I had to refill my own drinks.(I still tipped because she was doing her best) Aditionally, there was also only one cook. With slow service and average food, its not really high on my list of recommended restaurants that I like. But I wouldn’t go out of my way to avoid it either.

We ate steam pot by buying groupon. Even though we were told to order any of the steam pot on the manu, we were charged for extra to pay. When i told them to explain, all they said was its covered for 58 dollars and i have to pay for the extra so why we didn’t ordered the cheapest steam pot. Also, Do not get snow crab(nothing to eat inside). Only the king crab was good but gave so little amount. We got hungry again very soon. Just find another place for seafood.

The food was amazing! My mom got a fish and chips platter that had a great amount of food for the price and she was still talking about it the next day. My father and I both got steampots to share, one the Wine-O and the other Guinness flavored. Both delicious! Although one of the steampots had considerably less seafood in it than the other and was pretty skimpy on the portions. The cucumber martini that my mom git was also really well done! I would normally give a 3 star for something like that but the service was excellent, with one waitress handling all of the tables, tending the bar, and seating guests due to other employees calling out. She did an amazing job and earned a great tip. I will be coming back again and trying out some of the other amazing looking food they have.

Friendly place with decent food. A little pricey for the area(in a shopping center, not on the water) but overall a nice experience.

We stopped here for a fun night on vacation after we seen they were having karaōke night. Our bartender was very nice and prompt with service, but the place was lacking any energy. We split an appetizer while there because the food was much overpriced for the setting. We likely wouldn’t return.

Got the Groupon and heard it was a good place. My wife and I each got the Crab steam pot and enjoyed it. Service was awesome, food took a little while. We’ll be coming back!

Server did her job but the food was god awful. We had the nachos, I recommend to stay away from. They looked like vomit topped with very old looking guacamole and sour sour cream. The mussels were bad, they had a mushy texture to them and tomatoes looked old as well. I have to say if you like bottled beer and water it’s the place to go, otherwise stay away unless you like sitting on the toilet and want to get to know Charmin.

Newcomer to the area and bought several Groupons for various resturants to find ones we like. This place was not what we expected but was pleasantly surprised. We had an early dinner on a Friday afternoon and the place was almost empty, not sure why, the food was wonderful! We had the Crab Nachos and shared a boiled pot dinner and it was more than enough. The nachos were out of this world! Our waitress was informative and attentive. The only wait we had was on the check. Will be going back.

This place is a hidden gem. It’s not in a high profile location but it’s worth the drive. We had a party of six on a Friday night. Entrees included lobster, crab feast, and crabcakes. Everyone in the party was pleased. I had the Maine lobster for around $ 20. When I ordered, I was afraid that it was going to be a small one at that price… I was pleasantly surprised that it came out at around 1 ¼ lb. Our party had several cold beers(Fat Tire on tap!) and white wine.. Our party asked that crabcakes be prepared a certain way and the chef and server happily accomodated… and let us know that it would take a bit longer to prepare. The chef visited us near the end of our meal to make sure everything was satifactory… nice touch. Sevice was attentive and friendly. We will definitely return… possibly on a Thursday night…$ 17 lobster!

Oh where do I start? I literally downloaded and signed up for this app so I could warn those thinking about this place not to come! Service was despicably slow, then food was wrong, although a quick fix, and the food quality was terrible. I ordered a French Dip sandwich which had very little meat, about 1 layer, that tasted like shoe leather. About 30 minutes to get our food from the time we ordered. And there were only 3 tables to be served. Other food at the table was sub-par as well. Really sad. Did we catch this place having a bad day? Overall not pleased and don’t plan on returning.

We had a wonderful crab nachos appetizer. The service was great. Our issue was that they did not serve hearty French bread with the wonderful seafood dishes! We asked and were told that they have this signature cheese biscuit. We found the biscuit too heavy and not a good match to soak up the wonderful sauces that were served with the seafood! Get over the biscuits and move on to crusty bread to compliment your outstanding sauces!

Really disappointed with our visits there so far… came in a couple times and each time the burgers were overcooked(ordered medium, came out well well done). Sent one back this time, new burger was brought out by a manager who pretty much dropped the food off and left. Waiting on beers, watched our server hang out with management, other customers, and friends. We cancelled our drinks and asked for the check. I was hoping(having worked in restaurants for almost 10 years as a bartender, manager, and general manager) that there would at LEAST be a small comp… but nope, nothing. Very unhappy, and all we ‘got’ was a feeble«I promise everything will be better next time». Will not come back.

My husband and I went to dinner here last night with his folks for the first time. Great atmosphere, very friendly and helpful staff and very good food! We had the crab cake and crab nachos to start which were both delicious! My husband had the Mahi Vera Cruz which he said was amazing and I had one of the steamer pots, which was yummy too!

The food is fantastic, the décor average, the waitstaff beginners. Signature gumbo is terrific, very satisfying. Crab cakes, tho not in the Maryland style, are expertly seasoned and large. Wine, too high a price point for its quality. Summary: the food flavor is fantastic, Jake’s obviously has a good chef in the kitchen, the prices are appropriate for the food quality, but high given the décor and beginner service by high schoolers.
