The barbershop portion of this salon is excellent. You get all the extras you expect in a top notch salon but in a real sports themed barbershop. And at barbershop prices!

This is a fun place for a guy to get a haircut because a portion of the salon is a barbershop decorated with sports memorabilia. Karen Hagerty has been my stylist for a while and she always brings great conversation, especially about sports(she’s incredibly knowledgeable about sports and is even a serious fantasy football player). Karen and Jen, the receptionist, have also been incredibly gracious in the amount of rescheduling I’ve needed to do. I appreciate so much their patience and flexibility and this greatly contributes to my loyalty.

My story: I’m a natural brunette and 2 years ago decided to go blonde for the summer. Having just moved to the area I didn’t yet have a regular stylist. I received a coupon for the Ulta salon in Foxboro and decided to give it a try. BIGMISTAKE. After about 5 hours in the chair(I am NOT exagerating) I left looking like I had soaked my hair in peroxide for that duration. Needless to say I wanted it fixed ASAP. My boyfriend told me about the salon he goes to SHEARMAGIC and they certainly are. They were able to squeeze me in and help me out. This is how I stumbled upon the brilliant Nicole. My review: Nicole is amazing. I really don’t think there’s anything she can’t do. I’m known to my friends as somewhat of a hair chameleon, changing my color drastically and often. I have yet to find a task Nicole cannot perform. From fixing that awful blonde to a beautiful and natural looking blonde to bright red to blonde and back to brown she has been able to impress me every time. She is also amazing at cuts and there hasn’t been a single time I haven’t left the chair loving Nicole’s work and feeling beautiful. Nicole is extremely knowledgeable and will be straight forward with you about how something is going to look with your specific hair type and whether or not she thinks it’s a good idea. Her reputation is staked on how you feel about her work and she wants you to love the way you look every time you leave. I just can’t say enough about how amazing wonderful she is. Everyone at Shear Magic is pure talent and so collaborative. Not only that but you get to know the other stylists because they are all so nice and complimentary(shout out to Kerren and Courtney). The whole atmosphere and environment is great. It’s clean and comfortable. You’ll always be offered something to drink and have your coat hung up for you. You can also get mani/pedis, waxing and spa services. I just love it! So if you couldn’t tell I HIGHLY recommend Shear Magic and Nicole. I will never go anywhere else!

Both Karen and Rob in the barbershop are awesome. Great haircuts, beard trims, and super reasonable price. Only downside is that if you use a debit/credit card they don’t have an option to leave a tip. It’s annoying to have to grab cash before my haircut in order to leave a tip, seems like this is bad for customers and especially employees, while only benefitting the owner. Would love to see this changed.

The barbershop at Shear Magic is THE place to go to get a great hair cut. Karen Hagerty has been cutting my hair for over 20 years and there is a reason for that, awesome hair cuts, and great conversation. The atmosphere in the barbershop is fantastic and a TV on the wall is always on to catch up on the latest sports or news. The antique cash register gives the shop an old time feel, which is great! If you need a cut or a shave, I would HIGHLY recommend walking in or making an appointment with Karen, you won’t be disappointed!

Recently stopped at this barber shop and got a nice haircut. It seems like a woman’s hair styling shop but there is a separate men’s barber shop done up to appeal to men and quite successfully. The barber shop seems like a traditional men’s shop as you might see in days of old. There is a waiting area with lots of magazines and a big screen TV showing CNN news. The barber was a woman, Jodi, who also owned the shop. I guess I didn’t know what to expect because first she washed my hair, then she cut it, then she gave me a little facial massage. It was really pleasant and relaxing. There were lots of nice touches around the store such as an antique cash register and an old barber pole and a collection of antique straight razors. The cut was great and the price was reasonable. I would recommend this place to any man, perhaps businessmen visiting the area and at local hotels. If you need to clean up for that big meeting, this is the place to go — it takes appointments or walk-ins. All it needs is a few cigars and it would be a real old-fashioned barber shop!

On Friday, I made a last minute decision to get my hair cut. My M.O. is to wait until I’m in desperate need of the shears, then make an appointment with someone. Anyone, really. Shear Magic made the cut(no pun intended), and I was sitting in a chair that very afternoon. Nicole was the hairdresser to luck out and deal with my frizzy untamable locks. I have to say, she did a fantastic job. She shaped my hair and made my curls fall wonderfully and the color for my highlights was just what I wanted. She was extremely knowledgeable about the products and guided me in selecting the best hair cream for my unruly mess. She even waxed my brows! Nice job, Nicole! My hair looks awesome!

I was looking for a new place to get my haircut and I’m used to having it done at a hair salon(I have curly hair that has been hacked in the past by sleepy barbers). As a man, I got used to sitting beside women while getting my hair cut. So when I found Shear Magic on Unilocal and scheduled my appointment, I expected the same deal, but I was happy to get my hair cut. When I arrived, they gave me a quick tour(nice touch) and the final stop was this really cool, sports-themed barber shop separate from the salon, where the tour guide told me I would be getting my haircut! This is ingenious! You can get a darned good hair cut(or color I guess if you need it), a warm lathered shave, hot towels and watch TV in the privacy of the barber shop! I didn’t realize what I was missing all those years! Even if you have one of the«stylists» cut your hair instead of the talented barber(this was the best haircut I’ve had in the last 5 years), they’ll still take you into the barber shop. Pretty cool idea.

Coming from city prices, I definitely appreciate the value of a good blow out. The cost of a shampoo/dry/flat iron here is only $ 25 bucks. Every other place I’ve been charges at least 35 – 40WITHOUT flat iron. Us curly girls know what that’s like! My stylist, who I believe was the youngest of the bunch, was knowledgeable and suggested moroccan oil to bring my hair back to life. *Make sure to bring cash for tip, even though they do accept credit cards! There’s also plenty of parking and even a Dunkin Donuts across the way.
