This man Kevin Curtain and his company is a piece of trash!

I don’t have the energy to recount the entire story anymore, so I’m going to make this simple.
Kevin Curtin, the owner of this «business» is a slumlord. That’s the easiest way to put it.
I rented a home at 1312 E. Jackson St from Sept. 2011 until August 2012. Throughout that time I made numerous requests for repairs and except for a few pathetic attempts at cheaply covering the problem, nothing was done. I ended up calling the City of Medford Building Inspector who was (surprisingly) very familiar with Kevin and his sister, Patricia. Seems they’ve had many dealings with eachother.
Kevin was ordered to obtain permits and make repairs within 30 days. He had the audacity to be mad at ME for reporting him, even though I had given him 6 months to make the repairs. He ignored the city’s order and after 30 days passed I contacted the inspector again. At this time someone showed up and did a few things, but the most serious problems were still ignored. It wasn’t until I threatened to withhold rent (well within my rights pursuit to ORS’s) that Kevin decided to actually fix something serious (the rotten and constantly wet bathroom floor).
Then, in early August, I discovered the summer heat and wet rotten roof had together spawned beautiful mushrooms INSIDE the home. Kevin didn’t think this was serious (he said this) and when I (for the first time) became angry and loud, stated that he would be selling the home. When I asked what that had to do with anything, he said «Nothing, but you should know.» Wow. Shortly after that he had heaters installed in the bedrooms (you read that right – there were no heat sources outside of the living room) and just a wekk after that installation he sent me a letter terminating the rental agreement.
I responded in kind by contacting the city and having the house condemned (as I was told to do by the inspector) and moved immediately, sans 30 day notice.
According to his own employee (repair guy), Kevin keeps buying really run down homes and renting them out, all while refusing to fix anything. Savvy business man or cold hearted piece of crap? Rent a home from him and you can decide yourself.
