Perault Siding

This review is for work performed in June 2014.
We got four quotes on siding and ultimately decided to go with Perault. We are very satisfied with the work of Bob and his crew!
We thought we wanted Certainteed Cedar Shake but also got quotes for NewPro and Everlast (both have proprietary types of siding) so couldn’t really compare. We finally went with a local company and got a quote for the Certainteed from them. However, all three quotes were far out of budget — in the range of $ 23-​$ 25K. Bob’s quote was half that. I felt the work was comparable to what we would have received for double the price. Here’s why I think there was such a discrepancy:
In all three high bids, sales reps came in shiny logo’d trucks with lots of glossy brochures. Bob stopped by (incidentally we weren’t home at the time, but we had given him permission), took some measurements and emailed us a quote, so we did not have to listen to a 2-​hour sales pitch by someone who is specially paid to do that sort of thing. His quote was perfectly reasonable and in budget so we were fairly sure we wanted to go with him, but wanted to meet. When he arrived, it was in a utilitarian truck. He had on a logo’d T shirt and his fingernails were dirty. My husband and I were pleased by this since it means he ACTUALLY DOES THE WORK! This was important to us.
We decided to hire Perault siding. We preferred to pay for the work and the siding, not sales reps with glossy brochures and vehicles. He said the work would be done in a week — it probably took closer to 10 days. There were no major issues except that they had to stop work one day b/​c one of their tools shorted a circuit, and we weren’t home to reset it. The higher Certainteed bid might have gotten us fancier corners and hose spigot opening materials, and a few other bells and whistles, but we were more interested in getting the job done. Also the higher quote did NOT include removal of the old siding, which Bob felt was imperative and was included in his quote. He also did a few other minor projects such as replace the posts to the deck roof in the rear (also at a reasonable rate) and replace a couple of screens that were torn (even though only one of them was their fault).
Bob and his men showed up on time every day, and put in a full day’s work. We are very satisfied with our new siding! Thank you Bob!
