Inn at the Commons

Just a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are spacious, the bathrooms large and updated, the beds super comfy… and the restaurant attached beyond delicious. Plus they let us take our dinner back to our room so we could watch game 5 of the finals. Oh, and it’s dog friendly! AND the price is right. We had a river view room… right below the freeway, but didn’t bother us one bit. Shut the door and quiet reigns. Did I mention the free breakfast? Oue second stay here on the way to WA. Well be back. Happy Hour in the bar is a plus plus… amazing cocktails, I had the strawberry mojito 6.00. The ribs, a full dinners worth, 8.00. Just do you know. Ok only complaint no HD tv.

Its true that this is an older hotel, but bed was comfy, very large bathroom, good size room. Has conveniences of microwave, refrig & the wifi was good. Yes u can tell its older, but the staff was very friendly & the breakfast was awesome.

We stayed here on a quick one nighter while passing through enroute to Crater Lake. The room was clean and quiet. It looks like this hotel was renovated and is the nicest one in the area. The bar served great drinks. The location isn’t great but if you are a passing traveler this hotel will be great.

Room smells old or funny like a second hand store. Toilet makes noise every 15 minutes. Next to highway petty loud can’t have balcony door open for sure. Older place like 70s

Avoid this motel if getting a non-​smoking room is important to you.
When we checked in, the room smelled more heavily ‘perfumed’ than rooms typically do, but we were just dropping off our bags to go out dinner. When we returned and opened the door, Bam! Cigarette smoke, big time.
The woman at the front desk said the motel was full and that she’d return our payment so that we could «go find another motel.»
«We can’t help it if someone smoked in the room last night,» is the way I recall her not-​our-​problem statement. She was unfazed by the implications: either housekeeping didn’t report the room as uninhabitable, or housekeeping did report it and management decided to perfume the heck out it and hope the next customer liked the smell of cigarettes.
Along the lines of ‘it’s not our problem,’ she did not suggest any other motels or provide a couple of phone numbers. Standing there at the counter at about 9 p.m., with my wife and our dog waiting in an stunk-​up room, her demeanor made it clear I was not going to get any help from the motel to solve this problem. She wasn’t rude; just lacking in sympathy.
I finally had to ask her to make some suggestions for other motels, which she did. I was able to book a suitable room online at Quality Inn, which turned out to be a far better experience than the smoke-​damaged room at Inn at the Commons.
I arrived at a San Francisco hotel once with a confirmed reservation but no room at the inn. The counter staff jumped all over it, locating another hotel, paying the costs, and even giving me $ 20 for the cab ride to my new lodgings. In Medford, had I seen more interest in extracting me from a problem the Inn at the Commons created by renting the room before it was acceptably cleaned and de-​smoked, I’d feel different about this. As it is, I don’t.

I wish I could write a good review but Instead I must state that my non-​stay here only yielded the worst customer service experience I’ve ever endured!
Bad customer service would be an understatement in my experience at this establishment. After paying over a hundred dollars, which was withdrawn from my account through Groupon, I went to check in and found that my debit card was missing.
I presented my passport, a checkbook, and offered a picture of the cards with my name and the numbers visible. The room was paid for already.
I explained to the woman from their parking lot, after being turned away, that I was pregnant. I was just seen at Providence Medical Center and diagnosed with high blood pressure and that it was a medically sensitive issue and please to let me in to the room I already paid for. She would not. I then asked for a manager and she sneakily said she was the only one there tonight (as in there was no manager, however, I took this as she was the only manager there).
I then became upset and said «there must be an exception!» She answered «no, sorry… and said it was against policy etc.). I informed her that I would be contacting her employers, and letting any potential customers know of the risk of booking a room at such an inhuman, unprofessional and quite frankly high-​risk establishment (cannot get into a room that you paid for when you are in need is a problem especially at $ 107.00 a pop). She accused me of threatening her. I even gave her the option of thinking her actions and communication over and calling me back. She was very snarky and gave me nothing but attitude and a hard time.
The restaurant we ate at in grants pass called they found our debit card! We drove 30
Miles there, 30 miles back. When we walked into the hotel lobby we were greeted by snide loud laughter. Tracy, the woman I have been referring to with the cruel customer service representative that denied my room an hour earlier, said to her co-​workers let me handle this,» and pushed my debit card and ID rudely back to me and arrogantly stated «I called my manager and since you threatened me we canceled your reservation.» I did not threaten this very young lady, I only informed her of the action I am now taking (and will continue to take) in order that this doesn’t happen to anybody else. This action isn’t about bodily harm as she dramatically implied. If letting a customer service employee know that the business will be receiving poor reviews based on a truthful experience by a paying customer is a threat these days, than I am guilty. If letting an out-​of-​line, unprofessional and entitled employee know that a pregnant and medically sensitive paying customer will be informing the public and the business owners how harmful and detrimental their interaction has been (finally checked into the rogue rover inn with an option to use a credit card for incidentals almost 5 hours after I originally tried to check in to the commons), than I am guilty. I will be taking this matter all the way to the top (Doug and Becky Neuman of the Neuman Hotel Group). I cannot express how upsetting this experience was for me and my partner. I am having a high-​risk pregnancy (lost a baby already) and I have emergency discharge papers to prove this. I paid for the room already… checking out at 7am. Awful.
My credit card still has a charge on it (I asked for a refund when we originally had a problem and was informed by Tracy that she couldn’t do it), what if that was my last $ 107.00 dollars? What if I now had to spend the night in a cold car during the winter? This could have been the case! Yes, it could have been worse…
There was no manager on duty tonight 2÷29÷16. We were denied access to Tracy’s business cards or proof of her name as an employee. I don’t believe this is her name. I prefer a drama free check in when I pay for a hotel room.
These individuals should not be in a position of power, authority, decision making or in any customer service position of any kind. I worked all my life serving others, and I know how to treat people and help those in need, especially paying customers.
Very very disappointed, and I will not stop expressing my disappointment until there is something done about this matter. I do not want a refund. I do not want anything free, reduced, credited. I want these people held accountable for there horrendous behavior that has unnecessarily affected my family tonight. I hope to be contacted about this matter instead of me pursuing more action and expelling more energy. I do not give in or take these matters lightly. What would our country look like if nobody had standards or stood up for common decency and consumer rights?

Don’t let the good stars fool you! I booked this thinking it would be a halfway decent hotel for the cost and I was very disappointed. It looks like a cheap motel on the outside and the rooms seemed clean at first glance. I came back to my hotel room after work to find BUGS IN MY BED. The front desk was nice about it and refunded me my stay but she didn’t even seem surprised! This must happen often and I feel I HAVE to warn other people. DO NOT BELIEVE THE REVIEWS.

Made a reservation last minute for a drive from The Bay area to Seattle. Stopped in Medford and was glad we stayed here. The price was great, and the staff was very polite and kind. It is an older property, but the room was clean. Linens fresh and the soap and shampoo was great. Had a very nice scent. The shampoo really did make my hair soft. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Superior service! I left my Bose headphones at the hotel on accident and the cleaning staff turned them in! I called and they shipped them to me at no charge, even though it was totally my own fault. They also were amazingly patient and understanding when I called back like 45 million times because my apartment building manager rejected the they sent package for some reason I still don’t understand. I was blown away that they were so honest since the head phones are like $ 200 bucks. Then add to that all the awesome service, it was really fantastic! The head of the cleaning department (I forgot her name, it was in July) deserves a serious pay increase.

I give this place a star because the beds were comfortable, the breakfast was a pleasant surprise as well as the kind woman who was working the breakfast.
That being said, I wouldn’t recommend this place to a friend:
*Our room faced the freeway.bummer. The room next to us was being painted or something, we could smell the paint.
*It felt like a glorified motel.
*My personal item was left in the room. I called 5 times and finally after 6 phone calls and more than a week later the maid service manager called to say «sorry, not found». I am 100% confident that my item was left in the room and the way the situation has guilt written all over it. Management has not called me back either.
Not recommended.

If you’re passing through and looking for a place in downtown Medford, this might be a decent choice. I thought it was a little overpriced.
The layout of the establishment was a little odd for me. There were different sections of buildings scattered around a large piece of property. You access your room from the outside. The one nice little unknown is the creek that runs behind the rear of the property.
There is a restaurant inside, but it was closed when I went to go sit down.

This is a decent hotel/​inn, though it has probably seen better days. It is a bit dated from the outside, with doors facing the outside as opposed to adjoined with a hallway. So there is a bit of security concern in that regard. Room accommodation were adequate, and surprisingly there is not too much noise from the nearby freeway. The only think you really hear are semi trucks, but most are somewhat muted. The hotel had ample amount of towels, which is actually unusual — most give a bare minimum number of towels and you have to ask for more if you want to take a second shower during your short stay. The bed was a little stiff, but that could also be from a lot of driving we did previously. The pillows were definitely too soft though.
No major complaints with this place, but I would advise to avoid the restaurant on site (Lark’s). They have mediocre service and are pricey.

Sucks. Moldy bathrooms, rude front desk staff, greasy fingerprints on microwave, and they charge a twenty five dollar a day hold for incidental charges. I will stay elsewhere next time. The Holiday Inn Express will get my business next time…

One of the best places to stay in Medford. It is close to the freeway for those of you wanting a quick stopover in this quaint little city. Also a great location for anyone wanting to explore this town as it is in the heart of downtown — Starbucks is just steps away from the hotel!
The lobby is very welcoming and the free breakfast is worth mentioning with a great selection of hot food, coffee, tea and beverages. Lastly, the free WIFI was truly free WIFI with great connection even in the hotel room.

For the price, this place is a pretty good deal; it’s under $ 200 a night, and the facilities are pretty well kept. Upon walking into the room, it’s a typical hotel room with two beds facing a TV, and straight ahead in the very back of the room is a sink, and a closet to the left and the bathroom to the right. There’s plenty of walking room around the beds and in the room even when we put our luggages on the floor. I like how spacious it is; there’s a lot of counter top room where the sink is, and the bathroom was a decent size and clean. Though the furniture and carpet is slightly outdated, I would recommend staying here if it’s just a pit stop for a night on a trip since it’s decent quality with free Wifi for a reasonable price.

I stayed at this very same location 3 years ago when it was still Red Lion.
Let me tell u what it’s NOT:
~ it isn’t Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, Le Meridien, or any other 5 stars hotel… for the money that u pay for your stay, don’t expect it to be luxurious.
~ it isn’t in the upscale part of town or even the nicest part of town, Medford seems like a good size city and this is located away from the main drag.
IT IS:
~ an older hotel (Red Lion) bought by somebody and have done several changes/​improvements since I was there
~ a hotel that serves GOOD hot breakfast FREE for their registered guests
~ it offers a nice TV (tho on the small side), microwave, and fridge.
~ WIFI is free… had no trouble with losing signal.
I was quite impressed with the changes and updates they have done with the rooms. There’s no longer the crappy metal key to get in. The carpet have been changed and updated. The bed was comfy and sheets smelling clean. Sure they have done updates but there’s still lingering things from the old hotel… old thermostat, furniture (side table, desk, etc). Not a fan of the popcorn ceiling but it has no bearing with my stay. The bathroom/​shower room is a bit dark, shower head old but no complains with the flow of water. There’s other minor changes they prolly still have to do but again, it is way better than how it was when it was Red Lion.
I can’t say enough of how good the breakfast was… it wasn’t the store bought pastry or Costco muffins, and sad looking cereal bar. The eggs with bacon was yummy. There were also country potatoes, hard boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit (banana yesterday), and a wide array of Stash brand teas, juices, and of course coffee.
Overall a pleasant stay and if you’re not one of those that turn up their noses to a non 5 star hotels but insists on paying 2 stars rate… then I highly recommend this place for you.

Stayed here two separate nights on our trip into and out of Oregon. The restaurant was a really nice surprise and had a super fabulous happy hour and great kids menu. Our room over looked the creek both nights and we were treated to a spectacular thunder storm our first night. The staff was really friendly and helpful and if our room did not reek faintly of cigarettes, this would be a 5 star review.
No conditioner offered in the toiletries but the water pressure was fantastic in the shower. Amazing free breakfast– hot eggs, potatoes, toast– better than any free breakfast I have ever had.
The Wifi was strong but really annoying because you have to sign in every single time you log on to the internet and it kicks you off if you leave your device even momentarily.
We would totally stay here again if ever in Medford…

This spot was perfect for us as we were traveling and just needed a place for the family to crash for the night. The inside of the rooms were clean and recently updated it seems. The pool looked refreshing and the breakfast in the morning was perfect.
The staff was very nice and we had a great pizza delivered that they suggested.
One note — this place is a drive up to the room motel style joint. That worked perfect for us because we needed to completely unload a packed car but if you are looking for a more traditional style hotel just be aware.

Great hotel/​motel in Medford, better than anything else I’ve seen there. Super clean, great beds, nice staff and service. We swam in the pool (in June) outdoor, which was sparkling clean and in great shape. The tee breakfast was a full egg buffet, good coffee. This place has charm, clearly built in the 1960s and restored so it’s plenty modern but still feels like Mad Men (check out Larks restaurant). They even source local produce for the restaurant. I will return every time I come to Medford. Most of the people we encountered seemed like they were passing through like us, and we were a family of four.
I will also say that the location is great. This is right in the downtown core, and we walked to a pretty decent pizza brewpub called Jackson’s two blocks away. It was a great restful stay on a road trip.

Not bad at all. The creekside rooms are practically underneath I-​5, so if you’re sensitive to noise, I’d recommend avoiding them. However, the hum of the traffic didn’t bother me at all and I slept fine. The hotel is just a couple blocks from downtown Medford, so great option if you want to check that out.
Free breakfast included eggs and potatoes, so it was an upgrade from the standard cereal and bagels you typically get at this price range.
