Was here a few months ago. It was pretty cool. They had tons of good Japanese food. They also have a sushi bar. The people that worked there are very friendly. I would come back again.

I lived in Japan for 4 years, so this is one of my go-​to places when I miss my second home too much.
They have a pretty good selection of foods and snacks. Just a few of my favorites are missing each time I stop by (ukon no chikara and curry cup noodle come to the top of my head). I know you can’t import every little thing though, and what I’m missing is made up for in the great little sushi place and the other of my favorite snacks that they do supply (kuro mame senbei!)

This place probably has the best sushi, I’ve had in Boston and also for a great price. I’m probably here once a week on a sushi binge, it’s always so fresh. They also have ramen on Sundays and the selection of Japanese goods is astounding. Great place to check out if you’re looking to grab a quick bit of sushi or just looking to cook up your homemade Japanese favorites. See ya again next week Ebisuya!

If you are looking for a hidden gem in Medford, this is it! This Japanese market has cheap and fresh sushi and ramen on Sundays. They also sell rice balls for $ 1.50-$ 1.75, fresh sashimi, and cooked items– yakisoba, katsu, etc. They have other Japanese groceries and I think almost anything you would need to cook some Japanese eats. If you are looking for a quick bite of sushi or Japanese groceries, this would be it.

I couldn’t believe we found a cute little Japanese necessities market and food outlet in Medford! Wow! This little place had everything we needed from bathroom articles to made-​in-​Japan kitchen items, and of course some fried chkn and musubis to go! Staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. I hope this place lasts for generations to come.

Best sushi I’ve ever had anywhere. They have super fresh and simple sushi but that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? Prices are market and good for what you get. I’ve taken people fresh from Japan and they’ve agreed with me the place is on top of things. Not only that but if you need your miso, look no further, they have all those hard-​to-​get ingredients for making the perfect Okonomiyaki or whatever else you have a hankering for in the way of Japanese food. Love it and go regularly!

Ebisuya is an amazing Japanese market (I believe it used to be Kotobukiya in Porter). It has a range of household goods, food, and even some school supplies. While expensive I think it’s worth it for not only the quality but also the variety.
You can get noodles, sauces, fish/​meat, treats, rice, frozen goods, and more whatever your craving! The place is very well kept as well! They serve sushi made on site as well as other bento meals for your enjoyment.
Ebisuya also does occasional events teaching about Japanese culture and they encourage people to learn and participate.
I honestly suggest Ebisuya to anyone looking for Japanese goods.
P.S if you can and they have them available get a pork bun! They are so good and very addicting!

Best little gem in Medford. This store is amazing, the selection of; rice, tofu, miso, soy sauce and Japanese treats is amazing as well as unmatched. In keeping with Japanese culture even the cashiers are super polite and friendly, giving you little bow with handing your receipts. The sushi shop in the store is a huge bonus, along with all the fresh sushi grade fish one is able to buy!

Ebisuya is great! Little Japanese Market located in Medford Square. Convenient place to pick up any Japanese cooking sauces, ingredients and onigiri (^_^)v. There is room for the produce area to improve in terms of its variety and quality though. Best place to get your sushi fix. I mean $ 3.50 for most rolls (6 pcs) — can’t beat that! My favorite is the Alaskan Maki and Yellowtail Scallion Maki. They have specialty rolls available on weekends and I heard they have ramen on Sundays (haven’t tried it yet). The employees are also really nice and helpful :)

The selection is quite good, and they have a sushi bar too.

Came too late for the prepped sushi bar. Came too late for the fresh rice rolls and hot plate hand treats.
But I got there just in time to raid the soba and udon aisles before the last of Winter’s horrid weather came.
The selection of pre-​cooked noodles is excellent, and many include soup bases (although, I’d suggest checking the freezers for better concentrates). The mochi cooler is packed, portions of reasonably priced, sashimi-​grade fish for you to eat like Justin Long in Tusk once you get out the door, and the regional spice section offers a tremendous selection of pepper blends, curries and sesame allthethings.
There’s also an available video array, should you want a little manga with your unagi. Hummanahummana.
No, it’s not the pan-​Asian variety of an H Mart, nor does it strive to be. Straight forward Japanese goods with enough floor plan to go beyond «convenience store» status. Definitely want to get back at a reasonable lunch hour for the sushi counter!

This place is a hidden gem. Nestled in the never-​popular Medford Square, Ebisuya has the cheapest, freshest, most-​delicious-​est sushi in the greater Tufts area. They also offer a pretty decent selection in their market/​grocery area.
Just a heads up, their sushi menu is a little limited and rotates but they will usually make you something off menu, if they have the ingredients.
I recommend this place to all of my friends but they rarely listen because it’s not convenient unless you’re already in Medford Sq.

Produce is not the best but if it’s noodles you are looking for, you’ve come to the right place.

I know next to nothing about Japanese groceries, so take my review with a grain of salt, but I like just wandering around this store. They have a lot of packaged groceries, kitchen gadgets, frozen foods, and other stuff you’d expect to find in a grocery store. Plus, soaps and small supply of stationery items.
Maybe five stars is a little much given my ignorance, but I like having the diversity and the ability to find Japanese groceries should I decide to get more educated about them.
I need to try out the in-​store sushi next time I’m there.

Holy macaroni, their items are cut throat overpriced.
Everything is interesting, but I found some items here that charge almost double the price compare to other asian stores.
Shame on me for spending 60 bucks, almost caused me dropping my jaw on the floor, the things I bought were just snacks, not even fill up 2 bags.
But still, it’s part of me, I turn into blind mode whenever I see food or snacks, I literally just grab everything.
Neh, I’ll get my stuff somewhere else.

Some of the best sushi I’ve eaten in Boston. A small seating area in front of a sushi counter/​fish shop is the ideal place to enjoy some very fresh fish prepared directly in front of you.
Katsu also available.
The market contains everything and anything that might be necessary to prepare a meal. Oil, shoyu, dashi, vinegar, dry noodles, fresh noodles, soup bowls, frozen foods and Japanese vegetables, dried mushrooms, sliced bamboo shoots, and, did I mention fish?
A totally awesome store.

Ebisuya is the most focused Japanese grocery I’ve seen in MA thus far.
Too bad it’s far. And expensive. Kinda defeats the purpose of a grocery store huh? I can’t imagine how much more jacked up the prices would be if they moved to Boston.
It’s basically a given things are going to be pricey with everything imported. I found a favorite mentai pasta mix that Super 88 hasn’t been restocking for a long time. Nearly $ 5 – 6 just for a pack that contains 2 little pouches. Burrrrn. No thanks.
Soft drinks average $ 2 – 3 a bottle so I ended up trying a peach flavored nectar drink which I’ve seen no where else. Processed peach pulp with every sip, it was heavenly.
Spacious aisles. Bentos/​donburi available. Pretty extensive kitchenware section and cosmetics/​facial care. My question is: who still buys imported body wash and skin care goods? All I see is lost revenue as they age slowly on the shelf. Super 88, H mart, Ebisuya… this is America. Rich tai-​tais ain’t everywhere.
