Connecting Point Computer Centers

I give a single star because Unilocal does not provide negative stars or smoking crater flaming stars.
Other reviewers have characterized their experiences with Connecting Point Staff as rude, curt, arrogant, and elitist; as though they’re doing the customer a favor. I can add mendacity to the list.
During my miserable, fifteen-​day engagement with their service department, personnel repeatedly misrepresented my computer’s repair status, with alacrity.
Given the wild variance in reviews here on Unilocal,from what I’ve heard from clients and others, the Customer Service experience is, at best, capricious. It is almost an accident when good service is provided.
Connecting Point took fifteen days to perform a hard drive replacement on my iMac.
It was an Apple Warranty recall, no diagnostics involved. Simply receive the computer, order the part, replace the part. Fifteen days.
I dropped off my iMac on day one, a Wednesday.
The following Tuesday (day seven) I called to check on the repair status and was told that they were waiting on the part from Apple.
I called a couple more times, the last time, on day twelve, a Monday, and was told the same thing, they were waiting for the part from Apple.
Following that call, I wrote an email to Tim Cook, CEO Apple, Inc., expressing my frustration at the situation.
I received a telephone call from Apple Corporate Executive Relations the next afternoon, reaching out to see what the problem was and if there was anything they could do to resolve the issue.
I gave the representative a quick rundown of the situation and she told me that she would look into it and keep me informed. She called again in less than an hour to tell me that Apple had only received an order from Connecting Point for my replacement part that day, thirteen days into their possession of my iMac. I made a point of articulating to her what Connecting Point Service Department personnel had been repeatedly telling me for a week, that they were waiting on the part from Apple.
Connecting Point contacted me two days later, fifteen days after drop off, to inform me that they had finished replacing the hard drive and it was ready for pickup.
Once I had my iMac home, I cleaned the abundant greasy finger smears off the screen and the prodigious hot chocolate sneeze splatter off the back of the unit.
Wow.
It is rather amazing this business has not shuttered their doors. It is a testament to the number of people in the area and P.T. Barnum’s adage, «there’s a sucker born every minute».
Fortunately, Apple Corporate Executive Relations came to my rescue. Once they got involved, I had my iMac repaired and back in my possession in two days.
I will never see the inside of Connecting Point Computers, ever again.

Called at the beginning of last week to see if they had a specific computer adapter in stock. The lady on the phone said the sales associates were busy, but she took down my name and number and said someone would call me back by the following day. Finally, yesterday after days had past with no response I wasted the gas to drive across town to see if they had what I needed. Upon entering the store, there was only one associate on the floor. Someone finally came out from the back and asked what I needed. I told him and he began arguing with me about the specifics of my computer and adapter. He tried to tell me that another computer store had lied to me. Multiple times he asked me to bring in my computer to get the files looked at. Why would my computer need to be looked at if I just need a charger for it? So you can charge me for services I don’t need? No thanks! Their prices are double what others charge, they DON’T do refunds (only exchanges), and their customer service sucks! I’d rather go to Staples!!!

I brought my lap top in because the power point was shorted and a fan wasn’t working. I bought the new part off eBay I’m advance so I wouldn’t have to wait for parts to arrive. Alex took my lap top and started working on it. He couldn’t get the flux to come off so he took it to friends and family after hours on his own time to try to get it removed. Just in case he couldn’t fix it, he ordered a new board. He finally got the flux off but found the board had shorted as well. He got the new part in and quickly put it together. I was impressed at the customer service. I would have expected him to say ‘sorry… Can’t get the flux off’ but to go to his family and friends after hours on his own time was more than I expected and above and beyond. It’s customer service like that that keeps me coming back to great businesses. Thanks Alex.

Attentive service and good follow-​up.
PROS: I’m pretty confused by the bad reviews for Connecting Point. I recently brought in my Macbook Pro for repair (still under AppleCare warranty). The day I dropped it off, service was polite and prompt. He explained the process, gave an approximate timeframe, and mentioned the technicians would call to follow-​up. Diagnoses take time so anyone expecting same day service is … well, no comment. A couple of days later, I received a call with an update as they were narrowing down the problem and boom — received another call a couple days after that saying my laptop was fixed and ready to be picked up! When I picked up the laptop, I received another thorough explanation of the issue PLUS a 90-​day warranty on their service. Maybe I’m just happy to get my laptop back, maybe I’m just happy it was covered under Applecare, maybe it’s a bit of both, BUT the service was always attentive and comprehensive.
CONS: They’re the only game in town for MILES in the Rogue Valley so their pricing can be a bit steep. When I first called to inquire about data recovery, their quote was in the $ 230+ region… wow. Luckily, my issue wasn’t hard drive related, but I know I’ll be backing up my data every night from now to eternity!

Stay away at all costs! Terrible service, unfriendly (and creepy) staff, long waits. I had an absolutely AWFUL experience buying a macbook there. NEVER will go back. It had problems from the start, and they took the totally wrong approach to solving them. Should have payed the ridiculously expensive restocking fee and gotten rid of the piece of junk. Now, $ 1,300 later, I’m stuck with it. Who knows how long it’ll last after what the guys at connecting point did to it.
Order online or go to Portland or San Francisco if you have to. You have been warned.

AVOID USING THIS PLACE FOR SERVICE FOR YOUR MAC!
Brought in a macbook pro that was under warranty and had screen issues. Apple contacted this company directly for me to setup the repair. No one here acknowledged even talking to Apple or knowing about my issue… um ok thats weird but please fix my computer. The company replaced the logic board and the screen, a lot for a system that was less than a month old. Picked it up 4 days later only to have the entire system die less than 24 hours later. Was not going to give my system back to this place and sent it into Apple for repair.
I used this place because they are suppose to be a certified apple repair store. The closest Apple Store to me is hours away so this was the next best option to get a speedy repair, well that was not done and it put me without a system for almost 2 weeks. The talks on the phone with these guys in the beginning were shady and the repair work was junk. I don’t think they gave it much effort at all for it to completely die 24 hours after they released it. Maybe their good at fixing PC’s, but for Macs I would STAY AWAY!

I don’t know what kind of amateurs they hire to service computers but they really need to fix this.
I brought my Macbook Pro in to get serviced because the screen wasn’t turning on. When I got it back, I looked into my iPhotos and suddenly I have a stranger couples whole life of pictures in MY ALBUM.
I was cool about it, I just thought the techs accidentally loaded the wrong pictures into my computer and vice versa. When I gave them a call, I spoke which Ryan and told him my story. He took zero responsibility for this. His claim is that I logged onto another iCloud account and the reason why all of MY pictures are gone is because I did this. Ryan was completely rude to me and acted like everything was my fault and they never did anything wrong… On top of that, gave me nasty attitude, didn’t even want to listen to what I had to say, and didn’t offer ANY kind of help. Yep. I did this! *sarcasm*
Okay, first of all, how on earth will I know a complete strangers iCloud account to sign in and access all of their pictures? Second of all, I AM logged onto MY OWN iCloud account yet all of my files are gone and I have another person’s personal life on my computer.
When I gave my computer to them, I gave them my accounts and passwords so they can do whatever they were going to do and log back onto my accounts. They told me it was going to be like nothing ever happened. Cool. I put my 100% trust in these people.
I told him that it really alarms me that people give them their computers with personal information in it trusting that they will keep it safe. They take in so many computers a day and apparently are not cautious about how they handle other peoples personal information. And his only response to me was. And I quote word by word, «We did not do anything to your computer. You probably just signed onto another persons account and received their pictures yourself. We didn’t do anything on your side but press a couple of buttons.»
So I ask to speak to a manager hoping to get someone who had an ounce more of respectful customer service and what did he say? «Yeah sure. The manager will be here after 2:00 so call then.» and hangs up.
I’m not upset because of a possible honest mistake. I honestly just called expecting them to own up and hopefully tell me they can fix it. Instead I got someone who was completely rude to me, didn’t take any fault, and literally told me they only pressed a couple of buttons to fix my computer. Something they can «teach someone to do over the phone.» And yet they kept my computer for a couple of days.
Bottom line is, don’t bring your personal or work computers and laptops here. Who knows where they’re going to put your information. For all I know, someone else probably has files of my personal pictures of my family. A creep or potential stalker maybe? Not like they care much anyway. Not their problem!

When I get good or great service, I’m one of the first to acknowledge it. Sadly, I need to write a negative review. After our oC was hacked, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro from this dealer. After giving us very good service on several different computer products in the past, this time all four salespeople completely missed the ball and created more chaos for me when I was in technology chaos. None of the four sales people (who are evidently knowledgeable about Mac products) told me that I could run my Windows program inside my MacBook Pro. Instead, I was sold cables to connect the Mac to my screen with a toggle switch to interchange between that and my PC No one bothered to ask what kind of monitor I had used so that cable didn’t fit. We then tried to solve the problem on a second visit and were sent home with a wrong set up again. It’s a very long story and today during my sixth visit to try to get things completely resolved I was amazed at the lack of customer service and lack of customer retention policy after we have spent thousands of dollars here in the past few years. I will be purchasing my Apple and Mac products elsewhere

I have to agree with all the other negative posts about Connecting Point. They have always been arrogant, curt and unfriendly. I hate dealing with them, but have to on occasion. Just an all round bad experience. Unilocal won’t let me post with no stars, the option to put negative stars in is not available. Poo!

HATE this place! Don’t buy the hype that they provide «free» tech support forever. The two times I called them after I bought a computer there, I never even got a call back. When I took the same computer in for repairs a couple of years later, they didn’t return my call either. I finally called them and was told they couldn’t talk to me because I wasn’t «Melissa.» Well, I finally got a live person on the phone and was TOTALLY infuriated and disgusted with how condescending and rude he was. And, when I paid for the repair and brought my computer home, it still has all the same issues it did before I took it in. And, they didn’t recover my documents as they were going to, either. Very bad service. Don’t ever go there!

As for sales, Connecting Point was perfect. Walked in, they had the ipad I wanted and found it was $ 40.00 less than posted price at Office Max. I was happy.

I have never written a review on Unilocal before, but I had to after my horrible interaction with the employees at Connecting Point. The worker seemed to be angry while talking to us and didn’t explain well as he used technical language expecting us to understand — I didn’t, (even though I am fairly «tech-​savvy»).
They make it seem as if they are doing a favor by helping us, even though it is their job. I brought my laptop in to be repaired and they did extra work on it without permission. It almost seems as if they are withholding information to make a profit.
I have never had a good experience here. Even when calling to ask for the availability of a certain product, a rude and bitter voice would reply.
Horrible customer service. Horrible repairs.
I wish there was a different local business that sold apple products, but I guess Best Buy or
will suffice.

Only giving one star because there’s not a zero star or minus*option this is hands down the worst computer store in the Medford area or any other area for that matter. Customer service skills do not exist they could care less about their customers they are rude their nasty there ripoffs there’s slow they they should no longer be in business and hopefully within a few years with Best Buy around now they won’t be.

Rude, slow, inconsiderate service providers. Got three different prices for a service in now day. Waited 6 weeks for a repair on a desktop, had to call once a week to check in, still they lagged, didn’t care for my inconvenience, didn’t fix the problem.
Could go on and on. Shipping my mac laptop to mac rather than use them even thought they are local, I have no faith that they’ll do a good job and I just don’t want to take the chance they’ll screw me again.

I had to have repair on my mac lap top. Ryan got it. I couldn’t express enough thank you for their great service, outstanding work and how fast they had it done for me.
I will come back there for any needs I may have in the future. Thank You!!!

The worst customer service I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
I’ve been an Apple customer for decades (although never dealt with Connecting Point before) and *never* been spoken to so rudely and argumentatively by an Apple representative. I will never purchase an item from Connecting Point again. Unfortunately for the valley this is the only Apple store around so this area is missing out on the level of superb and knowledgeable customer care Apple ordinarily delivers. I’d rather send my devices in the mail and wait the week for a repair then give my time or business to Connecting Point.
I intend to follow this up with a letter to Apple Corporation describing how I was mishandled and verbally abused at Connecting Point.

I posted this same review on Connecting Point’s FaceBook page only to have it taken down. To bad that can’t take a bad review. Maybe they should try a little harder to do the job right the first time!!!

I am a big believer in shopping local. I wish I would have resisted the urge a few months ago when I decided to purchase $ 2,700.00 in Mac-​ware from Connecting Point rather than buying online or going to Portland. The initial transaction of buying the products didn’t have any «big» issues, just a minor one (I was not told I would need an adapter to connect my new model MacBook Air to the slightly older version of the 27″ Thunderbolt display, so had to go to Portland to get the adapter after setting up my system). Everything pretty much went okay and they agreed to take my American Express card, which normally they don’t like to do because it costs them more for the transaction fee. I get that. It was nice of them to take it. That’s about all I can say for the positive side of it.
Apple was doing a promo this summer when I bought my computer where if you purchased certain products directly from Apple (read: full boat retail), you get a $ 50.00 gift card to Apple/​itunes etc. Well, Connecting Point (also selling at full boat retail) decided it’d be wise to do the same thing. But, their $ 50 was only good for 90 days, at their store. I moved away for school before I even got the card in the mail and have been gone since at school where there is no Connecting Point, and the card expired. I went in yesterday since I’m home on break, to see if there was any way they would still honor it. No. Not even a chance. He was slightly apologetic but with zero interest in trying to retain me as a customer.
I’m not an idiot. I realize $ 50, in the grand scheme of life is not a big deal, but when you’re full time law student on an extremely limited budget, $ 50 IS a big deal. Sure, I’m not going to starve or anything since I can’t use my gift card but the lack of logic in it even having an expiration date or them not being willing to even negotiate with me is ridiculous. I’d love to know what their profit margin is on selling Apple full retail. I’m pretty certain that $ 50, wouldn’t even be felt.
My boyfriend, a long-​time well-​educated Mac user, tried to talk me out of going to Connecting Point due to his multiple disappointments in their service, knowledge and customer care over the years. I have another friend who was completely hosed on a laptop she purchased from them a few years back and did not support me purchasing from them. I wish I had listened. I should have spent my dollars elsewhere.
I think that because they the only game in the region, it has made them pretty self-​important. That’s definitely the feeling I have from them. I will no longer spend my dollars at Connecting Point. Such a bummer. I really want to support our local businesses. I cannot justify it though when the customer care, loyalty or desire to reach out, does not exist.

It is a real bummer that this store is the only authorized Apple service center in S. Oregon. In the future I will see my computer issues as a good excuse for a road trip to Portland, and take my business up there.
I brought in my MacBook Pro for repairs: the technician listened to the symptoms I described, but wrote down what he wanted to hear. I didn’t feel confident when I left that they really understood the problem. Two weeks after getting my machine back, the same problem started happening. Now I am in China and have to travel 1hr 45min by train to the nearest Apple store.
When I used their on-​line comment service to describe my issue and ask for some guidance, all I got in response was a .pdf of my service invoice. No apology or further assistance.
