History

Established in 1997.

Bob Thomas Automotive started in May 1997 in a small 4-​bay shop. We have now changed locations and are located at 535 Rossanley Drive in two 12-​bay repair shops. We have been voted Medford Mail Tribune Readers Choice #1 Auto Repair Shop 2 years in a row and are proud of our excellent reputation in the valley.

Bob and Lori Thomas opened Bob Thomas Automotive, Inc. 16 years ago.

Bob worked in the automotive industry for a local dealership for 5 years before starting his own business and has been working on cars since he was young. Lori has a background in banking and business employment for the last 30 years and takes care of all back office operations.

Bob & Lori are very proud to have served Southern Oregon for so long and hope to continue to offer their customers great service for years to come.

Excellent service and they stand behind their work. I took my ’99 Silverado in with a list of issues. They checked everything out, kept me informed and got everything done in a reasonable time. Best of all, my truck runs great now! Be sure to show your AAA card for a bit of a discount.

If only I lived in Oregon…
This is an amazing group of mechanics. I was passing through Medford and noticed a headlight was out. Found Bob Thomas on Unilocal and they took me right in. Unfortunately the mechanic couldn’t locate the type of bulb used in my car, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. He tried several sources but it wasn’t common. After we both realized it wasn’t going to be replaced that day, he told me to have a safe trip home and wouldn’t let me pay him for his time. I was very impressed with the customer service, friendliness and professionalism of everyone there and highly recommend this business!

Needed my daughters Lexus repaired as she was a student up at the university and I couldn’t do it myself… These people were very professional and courteous to her, they even provided a pick up and drop off while her car was being repaired. We had an intermittent issue that was hard to track down, they identified it first time they looked at the car and replaced the faulty part. We’ve yet to have an issue since. Price was reasonable and they were all very professional!

Best mechanic I’ve ever been to. They squeezed me in and were friendly and efficient. Even better, they were knowledgeable and not out to cost me money. The check-​engine warning code was telling them the solenoid was bad but when the mechanic checked the solenoid he said it looked fine and he didn’t want to replace it for no reason. Turns out he was right. I found out from the manufacturer that my Corollas computer was recalled and one of the symptoms was saying the solenoid is bad. Got it replaced for free by Lithia but will be taking the car to Bob Thomas in the future!

First time customer for the Express Oil Change only, however, will be back for other services when I’m in the area. I couldn’t ask nfor more friendly and efficient service. Comfortable seating area while waiting for car to be serviced. For out-​of-​towners, like myself, take exit 30 from I-​5, turn left and the location is less than 5 minutes away. Prices are very reasonable and discounts available for AAA, seniors, etc. For more than a oil change, call ahead for an appointment. Loren assisted me.

Auto Repair is not an exact science. Sometimes trial and error is the only way to find the solution to your automotive repair. Despite an initial miss diagnosis Bob Thomas and his team were professional, courteous, and took responsibility for the problem. It’s refreshing to see an auto repair shop thats focused on doing things right and building relationships when so many other shops are more interested in shotty repairs, inflated bills, and filling their pockets.

I have spent a few thousand dollars on keeping my older vehicles up to snuff at Bob Thomas Automotive and I can’t rate them high enough! I was in the Automotive business for my entire career and know something about how things should be run and how a business like this should operate.
These guys are Professional, knowledgeable, courteous and friendly.
I wouldn’t take my car to anyone else!

I been going to Bob’s for 6 years when a friend of mine referred me.
I must totally disagree with the other two reviewers all I have had is top notch service. I get lifetime free oil changes at Lithia … However, Lithia will tell me I need more work done and charge an arm and a leg.
I proceed to take my car to Bob’s get a second opinion and more than 3 times I didn’t need what Lithia suggested or if I did it wasn’t at the ridiculous price Lithia quoted me.
The guys are personable and helpful and don’t make u feel stupid even though I know a lot about cars.
I have recommend and will continue to friends.

My daughter’s power steering belt was making noise. They checked it out, then told her that she needed a new timing belt, re-​seal the head gasket, water pump, seals, belts, spark plugs, plug harness, coil boots, transmission fluid, etc, etc, etc.
Total was $ 1590
Took it to my preferred mechanic. Turns out the power steering belt was being leaked on by… the power steering pump. This fairly obvious solution was not even included in the quote from Bob Thomas.
$ 400 and fixed. vs $ 1590 and not fixed. Whether due to missed diagnosis or something more sinister, I can’t give them a positive review.
–later edit: Surprised to see that my review has been ‘filtered’. I see that two negative reviews are both filtered, and we are left with two bright and cheerful positive reviews, both left just a few days after mine. I’d be happy to respond to any legitimate questions on my experience…
