If you really want to know why this bakery rates one star, it’s because there’s no choice for zero stars. For more evidence, check out the photo I posted of the birthday cake my friend ordered… it’s the one of half a birthday cake, still in the box, in the trashcan. So sad. If only the owner of the bakery had listened to her when she complained that something was missing from the cake. Like sugar. The owner refused to believe that they might have made a mistake. But didn’t even taste it to see. Also refused to refund her money. Then berated her via email accusing her of not being a loyal customer.

One can hardly buy a pastry without almond extract/paste. Why ruin a great product with this heavy hand. And their beautiful croissants are glazed with apricot.

What a great find! We’re driving from Sacramento to Portland Oregon, pulled off the freeway to get gas and found this fantastic place. After passing by Taco Bell and a host of other franchise locations, we happened upon this incredible place. Fresh organic food bursting with flavor.

Since their expansion they have gone way up in just about every way. A quick trip in while waiting for a pizza from Pizza Hut(that’s another review) I grabbed a couple of cookies(less than a dollar) and drooled over all the goodies in the cases. When I’m on a cheat day on the diet I’ll swing by to sample a couple of other options.

I have really wanted to like this place. I’ve now been here twice and the first time was okay– had a sandwich. I went here two days ago and was pumped to try the sweets as they had looked great from my previous trip. The service was very friendly and I picked 3 different baked goods to go. Unfortunately I don’t have anything great to say about these baked in house goods. They all tasted like they were made several days prior. The cinnamon roll tasted like one of those packaged«continental breakfasts» you would get at a hotel in the morning from their office. The flat cinnamon crisp wasn’t crispy and wasn’t very tasty. The chocolate chip cookie was dry, stale and just not something I would purchase again from this place. Unfortunately I don’t see myself going back at all :(I threw away these treats that I spend over $ 7 on total plus a $ 1 tip.

Once again oregon highway cuisine is failing. An 8 dollar panini with nothing in it. Wow. Seriously weak. Why do people with no culinary art skills start restaurants?

It’s a café and a bakery, and it’s expensive — but it’s certainly not artisan.(To earn that title you have to go north to Ken’s Artisan Bakery in Portland and see how it’s done.) I had an ordinary turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread. The bread was fresh, but the turkey was that slimy, processed stuff. Heck even Albertson’s sells turkey carved off the breast these days. The sandwich was passable, but nowhere worth $ 10 with drink When you consider that the funky Sammich in Ashland makes innovative sandwiches with house-prepared meats and artisan breads for a couple dollars more, this place is a ripoff. Same goes for the mid-quality baked goods. An average-tasting cupcake was nearly $ 3 — more expensive than the superior The Cupcake Company a few miles away. If I wanted an ordinary lunch I’d go to Subway next door for half the price.

This is one of the top bakeries in Medford. Their cupcakes are delicious and the frosting is top notch… Not super sugary like some bakeries. Downtown Market will always be my top dog for their coconut cupcakes, but it’s a relief to find another place that can also bake at that level. I’m not sure why people have ripped on the restaurant interior– it’s a casual bistro, people! It’s perfectly fine inside! The staff is friendly and their display cases are always filled with fresh baked treats. The raspberry bars, coffee cakes and cookies are delicious too but come in large portions. I think they are a tad pricey but at least they make up for it in size! Now that I work near here, I’ve started coming here for sandwiches and soup lunches. The sandwiches are a bit skimpy but still plenty good. There’s too much lettuce and not enough meat or red onions or spread. However, kudos to this place for using actual meat instead of deli sliced slimy meat like most places. I like the sandwich unfortunately named«Mealy Marissa,»(seriously, who would purposely name a food item«mealy?!» Gross!) and the turkey tastes like it was carved fresh off a turkey breast. I just want more of it on my sandwich :)

This place is really good. A lot of cupcake variety… which I love! I love the ding dong and champagne cupcake. Also, you must try the espresso canolis. They are to die for. I also ventured to have lunch there once and it was good. Just kind of a basic sandwich. I am all about their sweets!

Oh, boy! This place is a locals’ secret! While it’s a good bakery, travelers will find a pleasant spot for lunch! We did, and were delighted! I had a chicken salad sandwich on a delicious croissant. I saw quite a few locals coming in for lunch. Obviously, they know a good thing! The bakery is across the street from Harry and David’s main store, so pretty easy to find – and worth the search!

This is my first time here and it was pretty decent. I ordered the«Grilled Artisan Black Turkey» sandwich. It was very tasty and hit the spot but I would have ordered it without the lettuce had I known the lettuce would be cooked into the sandwich. It came with a small bag of Kettle chips, no other options on chips. That wasn’t a big deal to me but do prefer baked chips. The iced tea was good also, and as expected came with refills. The good points here are it is a nice place and very friendly staff(at least the girl who helped me) and the bakery goods looked good although I was just looking for a sandwich. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and I appreciate that. For the not-so-good points: it’s a bit expensive for a sandwich that is served on wax paper in a basket(at least compared to other sandwich shops). And I cleaned my own table. I looked around and they were mostly all that way. The one I wanted was dirty so I cleaned it. This isn’t much different than some other sandwich shops so I’m used to it. Bottom line, I enjoyed it and will probably come back and try some of their other sandwiches.

I stopped in here on my way home to pick up some treats. Super friendly and helpful staff. I got some cupcakes — red velvet, mint chocolate and carrot cake. All were moist and delicious, the frosting was creamy and sweet. I also picked up a lemon bar, which was very lemony and way too big for one person. I got some baklava for my grandma and she gobbled it up. I also got an espresso canoli for myself, it was fantastic — a must have! I will be coming here again for sure.

I have had good soup here and good pastries, hadn’t been since they expanded and stopped in to get coffee and some breakfast. My FIRST reason for my low rating is the sign they have posted behind the register that reads«All sales are final». I feel in a restaurant setting this is a VERY confrontational sign. I mean, shouldn’t they want a happy costumer? If someone orders something and it is just not good shouldn’t they be able to return it? To me it is basically saying, «We often mess up/have food that is not up to par and we know it so order at your own risk». My second is that I am a vegetarian, I ordered my food to go(egg and cheese croissant NO meat) and it had bacon on it(which I didn’t notice till I was at my destination). It also had a sweet flavor. I am not certain whether this is how they make their croissants or if it was due to the JAM spread around parts of my sandwich obviously caused by someone not changing their gloves to hand my food after handling some sort of jam filled sweet something. I wanted savory not sweet! Third, The service is ALWAYS hit and miss. Sometimes the girls are genuinely friendly but a lot of the time they act like they are doing you some big favor when you order food. Especially anything that isn’t out of the case. Owner was REALLY rude to my sister once because she got a sandwich off the signature sandwich menu expecting it to be a cold sandwich and when she received it hot(they have a HOT panini section separate) and told the women she thought it was a cold sandwich, she basically told my sister she was dumb for not knowing it wasn’t cold(it didn’t state either way) and that she needed to learn how to order. Bottom line, If I am near by and desperate sometimes I will go but I never make a point to.

The name of the business is revealing: «Artisan Bakery Café.» The sign on the door has the word«Bakery» in a different color and twice the size of «Artisan» and«Café»(and the diacritical is missing from the«e» in «Café».) The owners understand baking, but are clueless about café culture. Like the sign, the café portion is the last consideration and not quite right. The bakery sells large flakey croissants and a variety of fresh, healthy, loaves of bread baked on site. Cupcakes and full sized layer cakes of premier quality are also offered. The quality of the baked goods is the sole source of my four star rating. Aside from the espresso machine, the café is missing. If I were rating that, this would be a two star rating. There is no WiFi, no privacy, and no comfort. Every seat is an upright wooden chair at a rectangular table next to a wall or a hall. All the tables are arranged in a single row in a U-shape around the outer wall of the rectangular space. This configuration ensures continuous traffic by your table when it’s busy. There are no armchairs, couches, or private nooks where one can visit with friends or read. Aside from the acoustic tiles of the ceiling, every surface is hard resulting in a noisy room. The Sirius/XM channel plays typical café music, but only over two tiny tinny speakers that are grossly inadequate for the space and ambient noise level. The Artisan Bakery [Café] has excellent quality baked goods, but they’re best enjoyed elsewhere. The café portion is missing.

It was cro-nut Friday while I was visiting Medford, so I thought I would give their version a try. I also got some donuts for other members of the family. Nice little shop with a small seating area if you want to stay have your pastries with something to drink. I was taking out for the household. Easy parking and easy to find if you know the area. Being a visitor, I hunted around the intersection a bit. Since I have never had any other bakery’s cro-nuts I can’t compare but these pastries were tasty. They are croissant shaped now, though when they started making them they were round like a donut, but apparently the regular local customers preferred this. They are crispy, and the custard filling was tasty, though one had a lot and the other had very little. They probably need to work a little on the process. The other donuts were fresh and tasty, but rather basic, which is OK too. I would shop here again when I visit Medford.

Great coffee and fairly priced baked goods. A gigantic cookie was $ 2.25. How can helpers claim that as expensive. Someone had to actually make that cookie! It’s not chips-ahoy folks. Very nice staff and clean layout. I’ll definitely come back when I have business in Medford.

Well, what a pleasant surprise. I’ve been to this place 4 times. The first time I bought a loaf of sourdough bread and a couple cupcakes for dessert and the bread was delicious as the cupcakes were pretty good, but not quite what I was hoping for. The next two times I stopped in for a breakfast/lunch snack/meal but with no luck, as nothing sounded that great to me. I’m not a fan of hot sandwiches/panini sandwiches, I never hopped that train, and bakery items like danishes and donuts aren’t my thing. Though I stopped in yesterday, hoping to see something different, and a ham and cheese croissant caught my eye. It was to die for. Seriously. The croissant was flaky and glazed with honey or something and the cheese and ham were perfectly melted together. My boyfriend got a cherry danish and it was also delicious, wondering how they make the crust so beautiful and delicious? A very nice experience and a sign on the door, notifying the public that they are expanding and will have more menu items. Though their food isn’t really healthy and we try to limit ourselves to one treat a week, it is definitely a nice treat and was a wonderful filling and satisfying breakfast. I will have trouble not stopping in often! Can’t wait to see what their new menu holds.
