Got delivery while staying at a local hotel on a business trip. Horrible!!! General Tsos chicken should be a sure thing at any Chinese restaurant but not from here! No flavor and very bland. Also got an order of cheese wontons and they had no flavor as well. Steer clear!

A restaurant that is merely in the shadow of its former glory. Chef Wongs used to be my go to place for quality Chinese food. It was the one place where I could trust the meat to be lean and real. Unfortunately when I paid a visit to them for lunch today, I was severely disappointed. The first thing you’ll notice when you walk in is that it seems to be THE lunch destination for residents at the retirement community across the street. My brother and I were the only party that didn’t have anyone over the age of 80 in their party. Being surrounded by people hacking up a lung every few minutes really killed my appetite. The service was what you might expect at a Chinese restaurant — one waiter servicing the whole dining room, but somehow managed to be there when you needed him. As for the food, it wasn’t anything as good as what I remember. The hot and sour soup had no spice. The egg rolls had an overwhelming curry flavor. The food on the left side of the buffet was no where near hot enough(lukewarm at best). The dumplings were much like they’d been sitting on the steam table for hours. Most of the buffet pans were either empty or picked over of all the meat. The fried rice and the general tsos chicken were decent, but pretty much everything else I tried was inedible to my palate. I was also confused by the sign out front they advertised a $ 6.95 lunch buffet. We were charged $ 9.95. Given, that price is still a bargain for a Chinese buffet in his day in age, but seems like false advertising nonetheless. Not sure I will go out of my way to return here– I certainly wouldn’t do the buffet again– but I may order takeout again to see if they improve back to their former glory.

I’m honestly shocked at all the bad reviews for this place. Chef Wong’s is definitely my favorite Chinese joint in Central PA thus far. We came here Christmas day and all ate«family style» as the menu suggests. We had the sesame honey wings, cheese wontons, and boiled wontons for appetizers. The peanut butter wontons are really unique and absolutely delicious. For entrees, we ordered the sweet and sour chicken, eggplant with garlic sauce, chicken fried rice, and a garlic pork dish. The sweet and sour chicken was perfect. It wasn’t the typical sickeningly sweet and sticky sauce that most Chinese restaurants serve. The eggplant was amazing, and had a really nice smokey taste to it. Chicken fried rice was a tad bland but acceptable. We all really enjoyed the pork dish, as well. The service was fantastic. We received our entrees less than ten minutes after ordering, something that I appreciate immensely with two toddlers that are always on the verge of full-blown meltdown. I also really liked that they gave fried wonton strips with duck sauce and hot mustard as soon as we were seated. The décor is pretty nice. Much more upscale than the typical Chinese restaurant, with tablecloths and linen napkins. It was also very, very reasonably priced. The six of us were stuffed with food, plus plenty for leftovers, for only $ 55(we also ordered a few sodas). I don’t even typically care for Chinese food, after way too many bad experiences, but I’m definitely looking forward to dining at Chef Wong’s again.

Ordered ten meals for a work luncheon for delivery. I placed the order a day ahead in order to prevent errors. The owner delivered our food, totaling $ 91.02, I gave him $ 110 in cash. Soon after I noticed my lunch was missing, but we had another dish. I called, spoke to(guessing) owners wife, she argued with me! Saying I ordered #12, really I ordered #212! After several minutes of rude conversation, she hung up. Short time later, #212 arrived, again with the owner delivering it. He told me I never tipped him, and charged me an additional $ 4.00 for my order! Being pissed, I just gave him the money! He then demanded the #12 meal back!!! Seriously you made the error, charged me more money and argued about the tip! He made a $ 110 in a short time frame of preparing rice and chicken! And who asks for a meal back in error??? Seriously, no more Chef Wongs for us!

Went for take out. Had the boneless duck and steamed dumplings. Excellent food-great smell and taste! Moved here from NJ and had not been able to find a good Chinese restaurant since then. This will be new favorite Chinese restaurant. Spoke to the owner while I waited, he seemed very proud of his restaurant as well as the food he prepared. Very rare to find these days.

The Chef Wong’s I remember is long gone! I got sesame chicken take out and it was awful! Horribly dry and what little sauce existed was absorbed by those styrofoam noodles. I won’t be back.

Very poor customer service. Rude delivery driver. Food quality was low and we felt nauseous after we ate. Will NOT return!

Came for the buffet on the weekend. Food was dried out and pans were empty. They had no intention of refilling anything. Staff was rude and did not even refill our water. I will not go back again.

Okay, Mr Wongs isn’t much to look at but as Chinese restaurants go the food is tasty and nicely presented. The lunch buffet will fill you up for not a lot of money and dinner offers enough for left overs.

We did not order off the menu but decided to try the buffet. There were the typical buffet dishes, nothing inventive and actually almost everything looked and tasted the same. The food was barely room temperature, and quite bland. The green beans were the best thing we ate, but they too were not hot. We would not bother to go again. When I mentioned to the waitress that the food was not hot, she assured me that it was. When we paid the bill, we also told, the cashier that the food was not hot, and barely got a response, but to be fair, the phone was ringing, We paid and left. At least it was cheap.

I live a block or so away from chef wongs yet ill go the distance for good food. I had tried chef wongs years ago and I remember thinking it was the worst Chinese I’d ever had. Unfortunately today I was feeling a little lazy and a little too hungry so i caved and ordered CW takeout again… bad choice. The pork fried rice was colorless and gross, chicken n broccoli tasteless, well it was just a fail. again. Do yourself a favor and drive the4 miles or so down to Ho Wah in lemoyne, you won’t be disappointed!

Went here with a group while visiting in the area. We thought the food and service was OK but not exceptional. The food was fresh but a little lacking in flavor or individuality that would make it stand out compared to the majority of similar places. Our service was very good made even better due to the lack of other customers. One outstanding point was the use of real and not disposable dishes and utensils.

I’ve been going here for years and the food has been consistently excellent. In my opinion, this place has the best General Tso’s chicken in the Harrisburg area.

Feels more like a fast food chinese place. The menu has general tsao’s chicken on the menu. The dish I liked was the fried eggplant and chicken. The other dishes ordered such as pineapple chicken and wanton soup seemed pretty basic take out stuff.

Meh about cuts it. In the last 3 times weve gotten this place, the food seems to have reverted back to. crappy, frozen chinese stuff you can literally find in any strip mall across the USA. Don’t recommend it, you will have a much better experience at any of the local Thai places…

This was my favorite Chinese Restaurant in a long time. The peanutbutter fried wontons — oh so good. Can’t find anywhere else. They do have a buffet, but I would recommend getting take-out. NEVER had a disappointing meal. Sweet and Sour Chicken — great breading — never soggy. Mongolian Beef — awesome flavor and dish. I really am surprised by the negative reviews below. I am picky about my Chinese food, and this was my favorite place.

Stumbled to Chef Wong’s for lunch on a Monday afternoon at 12:45PM. The buffet was open and there were quite a few people still eating. More guests arrived for lunch after us. There was a big spread with 3 kinds of soup and lots of appetizers and main courses. Alas, there was hardly any food left as far as quantity. The only items available in plenty were soups and white rice! There were 10 new people to feed within 5 minutes of us arriving, but food was not enough for us all. The hostess would scrape all the food together for each item and then go sit in a booth. Multiple people, including us, checked with her if more food was coming our way. And every time she would duck her head in the kitchen and speak to someone in Mandarin of Cantonese. No food ever came out other than fresh white rice! After our second request, she asked us what we wanted? Not sounding rude, we asked for the shrimp dish. When another guest asked for the same dish, she disappeared for a few minutes and came out with a hastily prepared shrimp dish. As expected, all the hungry guests attacked the dish to get some on their plate. We were lucky to get some too! But the dish was half cooked and I could taste the raw flour in the sauce! Rest of the food was A-Okay at best… Don’t know if this was a one off but I am not going there to confirm this :(
