History

Established in 1894.

Thirty-​five years after Oregon became a state, Oregon Mutual Insurance Company was founded by a local group concerned about the affordability of insurance. They wanted their own company, one that understood the needs of the local people in the West. «Insurance of the people, by the people and for the people» was their motto. They organized a «Mutual» insurance company based on the concept that policyholders are the owners — and their needs come first.
