UYE Celebrate Hump & Bump Day with Pizza and Beer!

One star off for the torrential downpour and the fact that Im Han’s tiramisu was frozen, but otherwise, I was pleased as punch with:
* My brand spanking new women’s Unilocal shirt
* The 3-​ingredient calzone I ordered, which could feed Tanzania
* The super yummy cinnamon cone with one scoop vanilla custard and
one scoop peanut butter fudge Jeff dubbed «the Juliana special»
* Tony’s hot ride
* Meeting Fenny, who is a force of nature
* Freaking out other patrons with our loud discussions about… Buffy
Between eating my weight in cheese and custard, respectively, I’m definitely starting to pack on what IH and I have agreed is «the Unilocal 40.» :(

I sometimes wonder how the universe doesn’t implode when Jake and Fenny are in the same room at the same time.
Either the laughter should be knocking down buildings (perhaps we’re not laughing at the resonance frequency of mortar?), or their dueling opinionated-​ness should cause a gravity well that would suck up all matter in creation.
Fortunately, none of the above actually occurred. We just downed some beer, had some (pretty decent) pizza, and prolly pissed off half the restaurant, and scared the wait staff. Just another day in UYE-​land.
And I blame Jeff entirely for making me suggest frozen dairy after beer and pizza. If not for his corrupting presence, I would have probably said, «No, no. I’m quite full, thanks. I’m going to go home and work.» Alas, a scary drive through white-​out downpour and five thousand calories worth of Frozen Dairy Bar custard later, we finally called it a night.
I hate you all.
And by «hate,» I mean «heart.»

It was a dark and stormy night…
No, really. It was!
As promised, I got to McLean Pizza at 5… and a lovely young lady is standing at the front door, watching me make a mess of the parking job that I was doing. Heh. NATURALLY, that person would be a fellow Unilocaler, the great and fabulous Marianne. We go in, grab a table for 6 (that the owner/​manager made us push into a booth to make a 10 top), and the marvelous Jake shows up… then the even more fabulous and illustrious Kevin with James P on his tail. Hurrah! You guys love me, you really really do!
OK, perhaps it wasn’t for me. I’m quite sure that it was for the fairly decent pizza and beers. But still, it was a great way to spend an otherwise dreary and rainy Wednesday!
Pardon me if I miss calling out anyone — I’m typing this, as I’m finishing off with a deliciously cold screwdriver in hand (that is more screw then driver):

From Pizza & Beer (I had wine because beer makes me gassy. TMI, I know, I know), we headed over to Frozen Dairy Bar for ice cream and scaring off the other tables. Heh… basically, they were jealous of how hilarious we were!
Good times! Good times!
P. S. I realize I use the word «awesome» 1 295 438 times, and «hilarious» 239 374 times… but with this much screw (driver), you’re lucky I’m even still typing in English… or am I???

Once upon a time
there was a quiet NY-​style pizza place
nestled in a strip mall in McLean
Then the Unilocalers descended upon it for Happy Hour.
«Happy» is such a completely insufficient term.
FABULOUSLY HILARIOUS WITH A CHERRY ON TOP!
There was pizza.
There was beer.
There was a kind and patient waiter.
There was a very accommodating owner who made sure there was room enough for everyone.
There was the effervescent UYE organizer and energizer bunny Fenny who kindly shared the white wine with me when diet coke just wasn’t going to cut it.
There was CUSTARD — Mmmmmmmmmmmm at the UYE after party at Frozen Dairy Bar
There are all the great Unilocalers who came out tonight and turned my day from :(to :D
There was laughing and making new friends and geekness and massive amounts of fabulousness.
Important things I learned
Some people are intrigued that you can voluntarily be pushed out of an airplane without a parachute and have someone dive after you to catch you. (I personally think that perhaps these nameless people might be insane, but they are without a doubt going to be FABULOUS)
There is camouflage and then there is the «pretty» camouflage (which apparently is not real, but is fabulous looking)
Tony P. is indulgently kind enough to let some of us ogle his beautiful ride (and wise enough not to teach people to drive a stick in it).
Bacon will heal the world (and apparently advertising so will help clear out Frozen Dairy Bar of «disturbed» patrons — they really do need to join Unilocal as suggested by Julianna afterward so they can join in the fun)
Dining with Unilocalers can be hazardous to your breathing health (unless you look Fabulous as a laughing beet — oh, and you cannot suck the oxygen directly out of the frozen custard)
Another fantastic UYE and I look forward to seeing everyone again.
Heading to crash from food coma, and replenish the serious depleted oxygen reserves from laughing so hard all evening.
