Smile McLean

Dr. Farahi is very nice and friendly, which is unfortunately the only positive thing I can say about this business. The prices that Smile McLean charges are criminal. Anyone who has had a trip to the dentist knows that basic services are expensive, but after seeing the bills for the work I’ve gotten done (or wanted to get done) I didn’t know whether to scream or laugh. Expect to pay twice as much as you would a dentist who has a sense of shame or «feels a duty to serve their community».

I moved to the area a few months ago. Before leaving, I made sure to schedule a cleaning at my previous dentist, whom my whole family loves. My mouth was perfectly healthy six months ago according to my previous dentist.
I saw Dr. Farahi and my children saw Dr. Esaam. Both are very friendly. However, these dentists found so many «problems» with my and my children’s teeth that I grew skeptical right away. Upon pushing Farahi for clarification, he changed the root of the «issues» three times. He tried to convince me that I absolutely needed extensive work done in my mouth. The same was true for my children. I went to another dentist a week later for a second opinion and guess what… no issues! I’m glad I had the wherewithal to seek further counsel before blindly following their advice. They wanted to «fix» 8 non-​existent cavities in my young daughter’s mouth, three for my son and schedule 6 services for my teeth.
It has been my experience that some people, no matter the profession, are trained to find problems. These dentists are those people. I don’t think they had bad intentions. I just think they are of the «better safe than sorry» mindset. However, I am of the «if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!» mindset. Beware any «professional» prognosis. If you feel uneasy about what the professional is telling you, seek a second and third opinion. You know your body better than anyone else. There is no sense in spending thousands of dollars and countless hours having work done that is not necessary.
Overall, the atmosphere was nice. The two receptionists were extremely rude, but the rest of the staff was friendly. I really wanted to make them our permanent dentists because they are located very close to my home. However, I cannot force a fit in this case. Sadly, I will not return.
