Established in 2009.

Fun Bot Lab was founded by technology teacher Timothy Burns as he developed summer computer programs for the Sidwell Friends School. Originally named Turbo Comet, the business changed its name to Fun Bot Lab when it relocated to McLean VA

Timothy B.

Business Owner

Timothy Burns has been teaching and training technology for over 14 years in public, private and parochial schools. He has worked at numerous technology start up companies focusing on rich media applications and animation. He is a member of the ISTE and sits on the Lego Education advisory board where he helps shape new Lego products and services teachers will use in their classrooms. When not teaching and training others in technology, he likes to spend time with his wife and family.

My son has been going to this camp for several years. This year he will do their new Gigabytes camp for middle school age kids. This is a great camp for kids who are really into robotics, digital animation, programming, etc… They have everything the kids need. Every year they solicit suggestions on how to improve, and they make changes based on the suggestions. They are well organized and the counsellors know their stuff.

Our son had a blast here. Cant wait to go back. It was creative, engaging and he really enjoyed the «running around» time and water activities. We will definitely be sending him back.

I convinced a friend of mine to take their 9 yr olds there. Overall, it seemed well organized, but the kids came back each day without much enthusiasm. For one of the kids, it seemed hard to keep up. All three complained about having to sit outside in the 95 degree heat to eat lunch. They liked most of the staff. All three said that they’d recommend it to some of their friends, but not all of their friends. Maybe in a few months they’ll deny complaining at all.

My 10 yr old son had a fabulous time at this camp. He loved programming the robots and making videos. The counselors were very wonderful and made every minute at this camp fun. My son said it was his favorite camp of the summer.
