Specialties

We specialize in obstetrics and gynecology, which includes the examination, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of women’s health problems. All of the physicians have completed at least four years of special training after medical school and take courses regularly to keep up with the latest advances in women’s care.

In addition to standard specialty care in obstetrics and gynecology, we offer evaluation and management of infertility, female incontinence, menopausal management, laparoscopic and vaginal surgery, high risk obstetrics, mammography, and advanced ultrasonography including 3D/​4D Ultrasounds.

History

Established in 2005.

Welcome to Craig Ranch OB-​GYN located in McKinney, Texas. The practice was started in December of 2000 by Dr. Andrew Shimer. Dr. Shea Joyner joined the group in August of 2003. Dr. Sara Robert joined the group in August of 2005. Dr. Heather Derrick joined the group August of 2008. And lastly, Dr. Christine Baidwan joined the group August of 2013.

All the physicians were trained at some of the best training programs in the country and all the physicians are Board Certified/​Board Eligible. Combined they have over 40 years of experience and pride themselves in being the area leaders in the most up to date medicine including highly skilled in the latest surgicial options for women and the Dallas leaders of in-​office surgical procedures performing both endometrial ablations and permanent sterilizations

Recently moved back into the area and started to go to Craig Ranch OBGYN. Upon my first visit i waited 45 minutes before being escorted into an office (which i will say is normal for most DR offices). Despite the wait, i decided to stick with them. I have since been one other time for my depo injection and upon leaving asked when my next appointment was. They gave me the basic time frame and said they would be calling to confirm.
I had a feeling it was around the time i should have been having an appointment so I called to see when it was set for again. The coordinator put me on hold then transferred me to a nurse. The nurse said i was supposed to visit last month. I asked her when they called to confirm the appointment. She stated that «It isn’t our responsibility to confirm or remind you of your appointment times».
I have NEVER been a patient of any doctor office (General Physician, OBGYN, Dentist office etc…) where they do not confirm appointments.

All 4 doctors and the practitioners are great. They delivered both my daughters. The nurse (Caroline) is very knowledgable and helpful. Office staff is polite and friendly! Highly recommend. The only con I have, is wait time due to their growing popularity.

I was so pleasantly surprised when I went with our daughter for her ultrasound at how beautiful and calm the waiting area is. It makes you feel as if you are in a great room at a friends house. Every staff member is so kind and compassionate. They shared our joy in finding the sex of the baby and treated each and every patient so welcoming. Being states away it calms the heart to know she is in good hands!

I came to see Dr. Robert for my annual exam. It’s nice to have someone from my old hometown. (But that’s not the reason why I picked her.) I really liked that she listened to my past medical history and gave me some options to try.
She didn’t look down on me when I told her we don’t want kids due to some medical issues. My previous OBgyns and others always make me feel bad and judge me. So I’m glad she was really understanding from the moment I mentioned it. She gave me some information to think about but didn’t pressure me into doing anything.
She was extremely helpful, informative and understanding. Qualities that I’ve been wanting for someone dealing with my lady bits.
The reason why I took a star off is because of the wait. My first appointment was scheduled almost two months out. During my appointment, it took over 2 hours from my appointment time to see the doctor.

I have been going there for over7 years.
The staff is very welcoming and friendly.
They don’t keep patients waiting forever. And the doctors are very approachable and knowledgeable.
I would definitely recommend this place !
The only reason I didn’t give them a 5* is because of follow up on lab results .
I had to call them to find out if they were normal or not.
When I called, they told me they only call when there is a problem.

I absolutely love this office. The staff is so friendly and they take time to get to know you on a personal level. They are always willing to accommodate your needs and make your experience a good one. They are prompt on taking you back and prompt on returning your phone calls. I wouldn’t choose another location. I highly recommend this office.

I have been going to Dr. Robert for over 5 years. I always feel very comfortable asking her questions, and even during my exam. I like the atmosphere of the office, and have never have waited too long for my appointment. On occasion I have arrived and Dr. Robert has been in a delivery/​surgery and I was given the option to wait over an hour for her to return, re-​schedule, or see an assistant. It was a situation beyond her control, so I am not concerned.

I really read reviews before deciding on my obgyn needs. I am really disheartened to realize that this did not work for me in this choice. First off, I felt I had minimal support during my pregnancy. Second off my delivery was not a pleasant experience. Dr. Shimer happened to be the doctor on-​call the day I went into labor and he was just very cold and not at all engaged with my case. By the time I delivered, Dr. Baidwan was on-​call and she was too pushy and not very understanding. I ended up getting a very big tear because they refused to do an episiotomy. This meant a long and painful recovery after birth. The fact that no one doctor at this practice is responsible for you when you go into labor is just ridiculous. Then Dr. Heather Derrick happened to be on call the day after delivery so she stopped by to check in. It was a rushed meet, she did not really address my questions on my post labor pain or recovery in a satisfactory manner and it was just a formality that she needed to sign off on paperwork. Overall I wish I had thought about it more and picked a different practice which would be willing to assign a doctor to me rather than shuffling me about different doctors who all don’t seem to care much. Post delivery I had a terrible bout of mastitis and the same case, they were not very supportive through that either. I was shuffled between doctors and nurse practitioners. And just ended up not getting the support in a timely manner. All in all a terrible idea to not have a single doctor assigned or responsible for you. I highly recommend going to a practice which will commit a doctor to you.

I love this place! They are never late to take you back and appointments are quick and easy. They are super knowledgable and the office is spotless. The doctor is so welcoming and listens to any concerns you may have. I am not there for a pregnancy just the usual woman’s exam and birth control, but no doubt I will use her when I decide to have a child!

After 3 years I finally got to see my original Nurse Practitioner! The office facility is very clean and you are always greeted. They seem to have quite a bit of turnover for some reason, so I’m going to search for a new place. I had breast cancer in 2009 and I just want someone to remember who I am. It’s not that this place is bad, it’s just ever changing. They are very strict about being on time. Once, I was 10 minutes late and the front office person was totally disgusted and rolling her eyes. This was the only time I did not recieve a friendly greeting. I really liked Christine Wan but only had her once in 3 years and was never able to schedule with her again. I assumed she moved on.

Been going to Craig ranch since my pregnancy first started in February. The front desk staff is amazing the nurses are great. I choose Laura Curtis because I wanted a non medicated birth ended up getting a c section due to failure to progress however Laura had my health in mind as well as my baby’s. Only issue I have now is getting my insurance to let me continue to go here for OBGYN appointments.

Dr Roberts is amazing!
She has helped me get pregnant and stay pregnant after recurring miscarriages.
The staff knows you by name even when you can’t remember them.
It’s nice to see the same staff it’s truly a family.
The office is always clean. It’s usually very busy but that’s bc they are a great group of doctors.
I recently moved 25 miles away and considered getting a new obgyn but I know there is no comparison so I will be here!
My only complaint is that they are no longer affiliated w baylor of Frisco. I had such a wonderful experience there and am terrified of giving birth at any place less than exceptional

I highly recommend trying this Obgyn! Everyone is nice and welcoming! I have never had such a calm and relaxing visit to the obgyn. This was my fist time at this location, and I will be going back. The doctor I saw was Kristan, who was very nice and professional! I will always refer friends and family to visit this location.

I have only had an amazing experience with Craig Ranch OB/​GYN. The staff is polite and enjoyable – seeing them is like going home to see family, the doctors have good beside manner and are very competent, the ultrasonographer is FABULOUS and they have onsite lab work which is a huge plus! I have not had any issues with communication, nor have I ever felt rushed. All of my questions have been answered thoroughly. My only complaint is a minor one – the typical wait time is longer than I’d like – with a toddler, anything over 2 minutes is too long, but I would say that it is completely normal for most doctor’s offices.

I like them because they have very good doctors that have delivered my babies both times, and Christine Wan is the best one there! However when it comes to calling them about my blood work or other questions not concerning any of the prompts given to me on the phone, I get put through to a nurse and no one ever answers! I called them 8 times over 3 hours to see if I could get them at all and i got sent to voice mails repeatedly. This is very disheartening and I may have to take our business elsewhere because being a busy working mom, I don’t have time to drive up from Dallas just to get a confirmation on my blood work.

Ask for Nurse Practitioner Kristen — she’s great for non ob related issues. However, the medical assistants seemed like they were frantically in a rush. I was seen twice there and both times were around 2pm. Maybe it was late in the day and they were over it — whatever. I’d ask questions and they’d give me a blank state like «I don’t have time to answer your questions»
Seeing Kristen was great both times but she also seemed busy and was rushing me to get out. As far as getting checked in on time and billing issues, everything was fine. I’ll probably go back if needed, hopefully everyone isn’t as frantic as the past few times.

Finally a review worthy of #600!
Can I count how many doctors have told me over the years… «You won’t get rid of your headaches until you have a hysterectomy or ablation»? Probably not.
Can I count how many years I have said… Ok! Let’s do it! only to be told I either wasn’t old enough or didn’t have any kids? Yep, 24.
I have been coming to Craig Ranch OB/​Gyn since 2007 but my original doctor left in 2008 so in 2009 they moved me to Dr. Sara Robert!
My first appointment with Dr. Robert we talked about my years of pain and hell and how I really wanted all of those useless internal organs either disabled or removed. She was the first ob/​gyn who agreed that I was WAY old enough to decide what I wanted for my body and WAY past old enough to know that if kids were not for me… that surgery could be an option. Sadly, that appointment was less than a month since I had scheduled brain surgery.
So when I returned in June 2011, I went to my annual appointment with a mission, one that Dr. Robert agreed with and since I had already hit my insurance deductible for the year we scheduled surgery 3 weeks later. I had a bilateral tubal ligation and an endometrial ablation.
My surgery on June 29th was about an hour longer than we had been told but that was because Dr. Robert noticed that the ablation hadn’t covered the entire area and went back in a second time to make sure it was done completely.
I had my follow-​up appointment scheduled for July 21st and was said I was good to go until my annual appointment next year unless I needed something.
And, what do you know… I’ve gone over a month without one single headache triggered useless organs.

It was really hard for me not to give Craig Ranch OB one star, but then I remembered the ONE TIME they didn’t completely suck and gave them the 2nd star for that.
October 08 — Needed to see an OB ASAP and a friend referred me to Craig Ranch. They got me in fast and the doc was very nice and referred me to a different specialist because my problem wasn’t ob-​related. This was the best experience I had here.
Jan 09 — Made an appt for an annual exam. Drove from work (by the Galleria) alllllllllllll the way to McKinney for my appt. Got there. Signed in. Waited 45 min past my appointment time in the waiting room. The nurse called me back and told me the Dr was out of the office picking up a sick child and wouldn’t be back for another 30 min. WHAT?! She seemed shocked when I was pissed and said I wasn’t going to be waiting around any longer. Tried to make another appt for a day that was convenient for me and of course «they were booked that day». I thought to myself. well I was booked TODAY and that didn’t seem to help me out at all now did it? But I kept it to myself and rescheduled to another day.
I still haven’t thought of a good reason they didn’t tell me this the second I arrived before wasting an hour of my time. It would have been ideal if they had CALLED to tell me before I arrived, but it might have been a short notice deal and I try to be understanding.
Add to this frustration that since this process of wasting my time and rescheduling appointments took 3 months that each month I had to get a refill authorized by the pharmacy. This doesn’t sound like a big deal except that if I wanted to ever get it authorized I’d have to call the Dr and demand they do it (apparently the Walgreen’s fax they get daily wasn’t enough of a reminder to do their damn job).
After the 3rd month of them p*ssing me off I wondered why I was dealing with such crap service when they aren’t even in a location that’s easy for me to get to. So I cancelled my appointment and was in to see another Dr 5 min from my house within a week.
PS — For some reason they called me yesterday to ask me about my RX refill, but I haven’t requested any refills in…2.5 weeks.
