Chrome Auto Rental Systems

Blindsided by these guys on an online Budget Truck Rental (after a recent move, they were the nearest location). «We have to charge you for insurance» (at about 150% of the rental price itself!) What!!!
If you don’t have one of their two «recognized» insurance providers, you are required to call your insurer right then and there. Incredible! (and no indication online of this at time of booking).
I’ve rented cars several hundreds of times in recent years. Sure, they try the scare tactic to add an overpriced revenue generator. Usually get by with a «No Thanks!» Worst case, the insurance certificate is all they need.
I’ve used Budget Truck Rentals in North Dallas (Preston Road) a half dozen times (and various Uhaul Rentals several times too) and have never, NEVER run into this issue. Just initial and sign the agreement, like always.
Well, not at Chrome. Thanks to them for the waste of time, gas, inconvenience and frustration. I booked online again with the Preston Road location (now rather out of the way) and guess what? No issue — like always.
Why Chrome cannot be the same, I dunno, but that is just poor customer service.
They were not listed in Unilocal,so decided to add them to get the word out and save someone else the hassle.
UPDATE: These guys tried to charge a «no show fee». Disputed with the credit card company and the charges were reversed. Beware.
