Firestone Complete Auto Care

As a military retiree who is traveling around, my experience with the Firestone shop at Mcchord was not pleasant. The overall quality of service provided was poor at best. My Roadtrek RV with Dodge Ram brakes were inspected and received recommended list of work that pretty much overhauled brakes, front and back. Although invested significant amount of money, the overall quality of service I received at the Firestone shop was less than satisfactory. First, scheduling of the job was poor managed … my promised time of completion for the brake job at 3pm turned into staying at the shop until 8pm with my dog, So it was about 12 hours of waiting with my dog, and I didn’t rent a car since the promised time was at 3pm. When I finally got the car at 8pm and was driving home I heard the brakes started to making a loud noise, which force me to delay my departure from the area. Went back to the shop next morning and was told that one of the parts they installed was loose. I was very disappointed and lost a lot of confidence in the shop to do quality work. Even worse, I told the service adviser that I would be traveling down to California so everything must work properly, and I expected the same since I was being charged $ 1400 for the brake service. It didn’t take long that I heard brake noise again and sometimes smelt brake pads. When I finally got a chance to have the problem checked at a different Firestone shop, it was discovered that one of the springs for the brake drums was rubbing against metal. Pretty disappointed … in fact, will be sending a feedback to the Firestone HQ soon.

So I took in my 2009 Mitsubishi Lancer with a CVT transmission in to be flushed and serviced with new fluid. I bought the vehicle 3 years ago at 50k miles and have had the transmission serviced once two years ago at a Mitsubishi dealership and I know it takes a special type of CVT fluid, I just didn’t remember what it was. When I mentioned to the clerk are they going to use that fluid, he told me that they use some other type of cvt fluid and that it should be fine. I took that answer with a grain of salt as I left the building while my car was being serviced. I figured he was the expert so I didn’t question the clerk at the counter. An hour later, I get a phone call from a Service Manager named Myles and he told me that I was indeed correct, he caught the mistake beforehand and verified that my car only takes one type of fluid called Dia queen cvt-​J4. A runner was already sent to a near by Mitsubishi Dealership to aquire that transmission fluid and they needed my «OK» to buy that product and that it would raise my bill a little more as that fluid was extremely exclusive. I of course said yes and hung up with a smile. Myles’s expertise potentially saved my car of future transmission problems and I am now extremely confident that the mechanics at McChord Firestone are going to keep my car running great for the upcoming years.

I have been going to this location off and on for the last 15 years or so. In fact, I have been coming here since this place first opened. My most recent visit last week had me shopping for new tires. I have always had excellent customer service from all the workers here. My service technician (Darryl) was very good and I ended up getting four new tires, a front end alignment and new wiper blades all for a little over $ 400! As stated in a previous review, Darryl is honest and upfront about the service and charges. He recommends what service could wait a few thousand miles and what service should not wait. I was in and out here in less than two hours… very efficient place. I highly recommend this location.
P. S.- The best part of this location is the proximity of the Base Exchange. The McChord Exchange has free Wi-​Fi, many couches and televisions to watch, a food court, shopping and barbers. Plenty of activities to kill time while you wait for your car being serviced.

I have nothing but good to say about this company. The front counter people always greet me as soon as I walk in the door. I have been to four different Firestones in two different states and this one is by far the best. I have only had one problem since going to them and they corrected it the next time I came in. They did it without any additional charges. The manager, who I think is Daryl, has always been upfront with any repairs that need to be done. They even show me what the manufacturer recommends for future visits. If you are looking for a good car mechanic place, then go here.

Never take your car to either the one on fort lewis or mcchord. Took both my cars to get diagnosed and they said noise was coming from pulleys and the tensioners. Fine we got thoughs replaced. After a couple months both my cars need the alternators and belts replaced took them to a different place to get that replaced. Also they charge way more then most places.
