I would like to start off by saying that this is not the first time that Firestone has F***** my husband and I. We brought in our Subaru to get an alignment and they told me that my tires were toast. Long story short they were only a year old and just fine. I get it home after spending an arm and a leg on an alignment and hours later fine my Subaru sitting on the rim. They popped my tire. The tires literally still had the nipples on them. I know that many people bring their vehicles in to get worked on and fixed because they don’t have time to do it themselves or are not mechanically savvy. After this first time of being crapped on by FIRESTONE you would think i wouldn’t think of going back. Well sadly we are leaving island and needed a quick fix. Living here we don’t have the tools with us needed to fix the breaks ourselves. Bringing our bronco in we knew exactly the problems that needed fixing and asked specifically for that. After being quoted 280 $ they called us with 6 new issues stating «we have to flush the breaks and all these things are wrong.» the new quote being over $ 600. I would highly recommend NOT going to this shop. Don’t go and pay a ridiculous amount of money. Go to 808 the Shop at pearl city plaza. They will be honest and help. We left spending $ 300.

Check the DOT Date on the Tires. Got a good price and good service but the tires are 3 years old. Most say tire life is 5 years.

I took my car there several times for different reasons and each time Donovan has been 1000% awesome. Has always explained all they did and suggested recommendations and explain in full detail, in a language I can understand, what they did. Donovan has always gone above and beyond anything I could have asked for and that reason and that reason alone keeps me going back for my car maintenance needs and is the reason I recommend to my friends to take their vehicles there if there is anything they need fixed or even just answers about. I’ve come here on a couple of occasions without an appointment and my car was serviced the same-​day. It’s really convenient to get a safety inspection on base. The customer service representatives have always been courteous and helpful too.

DO NOT GET YOUR BRAKES SERVICED HERE!
I took my vehicle in to have the brakes looked at because they were squealing when in reverse. They told me I needed new brake pads and that the job would take all day. The manager told me that his guys would get it done quick since they wanted to get the job done before the shop closes. After a long day of work I stayed and waited for them until I got a call that everything was «fixed».
3 days later as I’m driving home I hear a pretty rough grinding sound that seemed to be coming from my brakes so I took it in to another Firestone on Dillingham close to where I live and they took another look at it. They said that the K-​Bay Firestone installed the pads incorrectly; the left front shim and hardware were broken and the rotor grooved from shim required a replacement. They also said that the K-​Bay Firestone forgot one of the pins that holds everything together. The Dillingham Firestone ended up fixing it at no cost since it was on the fault of the previous mechanics.
Overall this was the result of negligence for customer safety and job quality, extremely unprofessional and the fact that I’m not the only one to experience this problem from the same Firestone only reinforces my point. If you want professionals to service your vehicle, then you might want to go elsewhere out in town.

If I could give this place a half of a star I would have but I guess one will suffice. When I took my car to get a tire change I told them to go ahead and check my brakes since I just bought a car from Craig’s list. When I pick up my car, yes they did a good job replacing my tire but then told me I needed all new brake pads, rotors, and wiring at an extremely outrageous price. Just for the rotors alone they wanted to charge me $ 150 so I went to orielys and bought all the parts for $ 140. But that’s not even the worst part. I went to change the brakes myself with a friend that’s a mechanic and turns out my brakes are perfectly fine and in extremely great condition. Firestone almost got me for $ 630 (parts and labor) so be sure to check your car or have a friend who knows about cars maybe to look it over before you get a quote from them. Your better off finding a shop out in town. You would think being on a base regardless of the inflation here (Hawaii) being high that you would get a better price than out in town but not the case.

Gotta give this place a great review! Got my oil changed here today for only $ 30. Most places over charge or rip me off because I don’t know a thing about cars. (I once got charged $ 100 for my oil to be changed) (Yes, I am blonde) lol But seriously Firestone’s staff was extremely helpful and nice. It’s in walking distance of my house so I dropped the car off, walked back and got to relax until they were done! Instead of waiting in a lobby forever.
They also had an awesome deal going on.

About 2 hours later I came back ~ they let me know what exactly needed to be done to my vehicle, when it needed to be done, and a price of everything! They offer a credit card so you’re able to make payments :) If you live on MCBH please go here! It’s a great option and so convenient.

When we first arrived on island, we needed to get our cars brakes replaced as it failed safety. Being new to Hawaii and living in the lodge, I just went here for convenience. They told me it would take all day to replace my brakes, which I didn’t mind since we were still getting settled in.
Got my car back and felt a little funky. I ignored it, until the end of the week. My brakes squealed really hard. It literally sounded like a rock was in my rotors. I spoke with one of the associates and he said they can check on it and I agreed to let them work on it again. Took all day, but didn’t have anything going on so I let them keep my car again. When I picked it up, as I was pulling out, my car squealed harder and louder. This time ALL the mechanics stopped and looked at my car. Yeah, it was loud enough to make everyone stop. not only did I not have my car for another day again, THEY DIDN’T FIX THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM. They wanted me to come back again the next day and drop it off for the entire day AGAIN (3 freaking times to leave my car ALL DAY). Whatever, I did and they «fixed» it.
Tired of the issue, they actually didnt fix, I just took it to another mechanic off base (RNS) and he fixed it within an hour. No fuss, and now my brakes are fine.
I just hated how I spent the $$ here the first time. Not coming here ever for major repairs. Seems like they are good for minor stuff like an oil change.

Been here a few times the past year. First time was for a replacement battery, and I had no problems walking in and getting one. The second time was for a safety inspection for my CRV that had expired tags. We had been out of town and I was concerned I would get a big penalty or have issues renewing the tags. We had no problems though. I just called again to make an appointment to take off a donut and put on a new tire. The guy Robert, was super nice on the phone. He was positive and told me how long it would be. He even suggested a mid day appointment so that I could get lunch nearby. When I have mechanical issues I take my car to the dealership, but for small issues like these, I’m glad that this place is nearby

I took my car in for a service on the a/​c they told me it was because of a/​c clutch failure and quoted me $ 1,400 for a new compressor, drier and to evac the system and re pressurize and fill it. I was not going to pay $ 1,400 for that they quoted the compressor at $ 7XX when I could get a new OEM for $ 5XX. When I got home I looked and the clutch was I engaging but the front plate was loose. I tightened the plate, went to Walmart and recharged the system and wam it works perfectly now. This shop is extremely over priced and they obviously have no idea what they are doing.

Yea, it’s crap. 12 – 2 Appt. dropped off at 11:30 went back at 1:30, still had not moved the vehicle. Told them I need it by 2:15. Pulled it into the lift, came back with some BS that things needed repair before they did the lifetime alignment. Junk, don’t bother.
Update, Kailua Firestone. Spot on service.

This place has a bad reputation for quite a few things;
A) Work taking longer than it should
— 9 times out of 10, when you bring your vehicle in (even if you have an appointment) you can expect to leave it there for most of the day. Not a big deal if you work on base and can just walk from there and back. Other people may have to make further arrangements.
B) Prices
— You «live» in Hawaii. Do not quote a job that you can do from the mainland and expect the same price in Hawaii. This is an insanely inflated tropical island. Just get over it. Try to find the best deal, at the best auto mechanic you can afford.
C) Work being «Half-***ed» or completed incorrectly
— I have had my vehicles maintained here for the better part of 2 years and have yet to have a problem with their work. Granted I try and do 95% of the maintenance myself, but you know what I mean.
This shop is convenient, being on base, and offers somewhat competitive rates. Shop around and get some quotes. Plan to spend a little bit of money and it will be worth it in the end.

Horrible service!!! I took my car in at 9 am to get a oil change and my a/​c fixed. returned at 3 pm as agreed to pick it up and not only was my car not ready but my a/​c wasnt fixed nor was the oil change done. This will be my very last time coming here and i dont recommend anyone to come here if you love your car. All they do is listen yo music and half do they job. Worthless, waste of time and money.

CAR OWNERS BEWARE!!!
So I ALWAYS Unilocal a place before taking my business there. If the reviews are bad, I won’t go. I decided to take a chance on this Firestone.
First time, I needed an oil change. They changed my oil and said my battery was going out AND my starter was going bad… My car had no such symptoms before coming in. They changed my oil but after wards, my battery went bad. Slightly suspicious…
Second time is the kicker. I came in to get my brakes done and to see if they could reattach my driver side side-​view mirror. They kept asking me questions, I made it clear I didn’t know about cars so they needed to baby things down for me. They said they’d need to COMPLETELY replace my mirror (absolutely not true) so I just told him I would fix it myself. Then they said my car would be READY at 1300.
1330 rolls around and I get a call. Not only have they not done the work on my car, but they suddenly can fix my mirror for $ 50+ dollars, found a bunch of other things that «need» done that would cost me more money, and they have bad news. My calibers are required to be replaced in order for my brakes to be done, front and back, and together, it’ll be $ 1,500.
Um, I don’t frickin’ think so.
I call my dad (car smarty-​pants in AZ) and he says they’re taking me for a ride. I go inside and I say to do my brakes and nothing else, and my dad calls so we’re all talking. Here’s how the rest went down.
— will only do my front brakes
— ALL my calibers aren’t bad, the back are just not completely matched up on the left side (which could just be a problem with how the brake was installed) but they can’t tell if the brake is the problem or not (auto technicians can’t tell… Interesting)
— my ~50K miles car would need the rotars (sp)? resurfaced and resurfacing might put it below specs, which means the whole thing would need replacing after all. This is crap.
— will charge me $ 184 and some change for brakes with or without the resurfacing
BTW, the 1.5K job I mentioned earlier would cost me $ 360 before taxes and all that in AZ. I get there’s a «Hawaiian mark-​up» but this is obscene.
I just took my car back, with no work done. I didn’t trust them to not purposefully put my rotars below specs. I will NEVER bring my car here again, and I advise the same for you.

We have had all three of our families cars serviced here for a variety of reasons, oil changes and routine maintenence, but also trouble shooting unknown problems as well. Service has always been excellent. They have provided accurate cost and time estimates, and the care has either been ready earlier or right on time. They have always done what they said they were going to do and we knew the charges upfront. I have found them honest and transparent. I live off base, but close and love having this location so close to home. The location, service and quality all make it easy to keep our cars in shape.

Took my 01 civic that had 97,000 miles in to get the A/​C checked. They told me it was $ 50 to check it and tell me what was wrong with it. I said OK, then got a call 2 hours later saying they needed to check to electrical system to see what was wrong with the A/​C and that it would be $ 150 for that check. I unfortunately agreed instead of walking away. They eventually said it was a blown fuse and replaced it and said it was fixed. Picked the car up and it still blew hot air, but they were closing so I had to bring it in the next day. The next day they put another fuse in and the A/​C worked for 5 days til it blew hot again. I called back and they told me it «must be» the compressor that is broken. One of my friends who is a certified mechanic checked the car and said it’s not the compressor, but they just said it was because it costs the most money to replace ($ 1300 was the quote firestone gave) and the mechanics make that their go-​to A/​C problem fixer because it takes less time than hunting down the actual problem-​he suspected it was an electrical problem.
They also told me my battery needed replacing, so I had that replaced because it was pretty old. 2 months later my battery light on my car remains on all the time, so they must not have installed it correctly or something is wrong with the battery
Shame on me for not walking away after the first $ 50. Shame on them for ramping up prices and never telling us what was wrong or fixing the problem and trying to charge me for the most expensive repair possible. I learned my lesson… i’ll be taking the civic to a certified honda service center from now on. I wouldn’t recommend this company.
I wish MCBH would kick them off the base and put in a Chick Fil A instead :)

I’m not giving this location a bad review due to customer service, because I have always received excellent customer service, but for the incorrect information they gave me. I took in my car for an oil change, and they accommodated the day and time I needed, and it was completed within the time they said-​an hour! When I dropped it off I mentioned it was taking a while to start. When I picked up the car, they said my battery tested fine. Over the next week, the problem got worse. I took my car to o’reilly to test my battery, and the results showed that my battery was nearly dead.

Robert was good, getting me a good price for 5 tires, brought it in later and a couple hours all done. Bobby the service mgr also. Good caring leader

This firestone is a RIPP OFF ! They should all be ashamed of themselves for ripping off hard working military members ! I don’t recommend ANYONE to get their car worked on here ! They tried to say it would cost us over $ 800 for fix 2 front wheel bearing, a job that only takes no more then 2hours TOPS ! The part was $ 300. So you mean to tell me Im paying you $ 250 a hour for work ! THAT IS INSANE !!! Then you say to leave my car all day with you (BS) You want me to pay you for my car to SIT at your shop, and NOT get worked on ! I know many other family here on base that they have ripped off ! The base should NOT allow this to happen to there members ! They think just because we are military, and not from this Island they can get away with crap like this ! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE !!! You will go in for one thing and they will tell you, You need a new engine !

This Firestone gets a really bad reputation but I have always had a great experience here.
They are not the cheapest but most times, when it comes to my car its all about convenience and I love that they’re on base. The staff is friendly, helpful and fast. I’ve been late to several appointments and they’ve always taken me in. There was a reoccurring issue with my car that I thought they caused and they worked to fix it! I am always a fan of good work ethic!
