Edna (Gonzales) Posada is a true Valley Girl! Born in Brownsville, raised in San Benito and now living in McAllen, she got a degree in computer programming but her love of makeup and fashion beat out the computer world. The tiny tornado blew in with a small Merle Norman Cosmetic franchise and churned it into a cosmetic franchise, spa, salon, boutique and barbershop with 3 locations in South Texas. In 2012 Edna’s daughter, Alexandria, joined her armed with a finance degree after spending years playing with lipsticks and brushes. The sassy, classy, and sometimes smart-​assy energetic duo is constantly roaming the US to continue bringing the latest and best in all things beauty and now for the bearded.

Edna (Gonzalez) Posada was born in Brownsville, TX. She took the opportunity to go into business in 1989 and formed a corporation, Aldani Inc., to purchase a small retail cosmetic store in McAllen, TX. Always working on the sales floor, Edna kept listening to customer comments about adding services and products. Today Aldani, Inc. owns three Merle Norman Cosmetic Studios and three Spa LaPosada locations offering a broad range of spa and salon services, clothing, accessories, shoes, and cosmetic products to customers throughout the Rio Grande Valley and currently provides employment to 23 women. Edna is its president, and remains its sole owner.

We are new to Texas and my husband was so nice he got me a gift card here so I could get a haircut and Mani & Pedicure. I haven’t been able to get out much since having my baby. My first experience with salons in Texas is it WAY over priced for what you get. San Diego is literally half the price for a shellac Mani and regular pedicure. The manicure portion is literally just the shellac they do not use lotion or do any sort of hand massage like every other salon I’ve been to in San Diego. Then the pedicure portion was underwhelming as well. No massage chair, no lotion on the legs, no massage on leg, Very short foot massage. Plus very few colors to choose from. Disappointed is an understatement as far as Mani/​pedi goes. (My girl was nice and did a good paint job.) The haircut was as expected accept for they charge almost as much as the haircut to style it after. Again double then San Diego price for the style with the cut. I am certainly willing to spend when it is worth it but not here.

I booked my mom services and got her a gift certificate for her birthday. Setting this up in San Antonio couldn’t have been any easier. Their website was easy to use and navigate. I was able to buy a gift certificate and have it printed out for her. It lets you select a general amount, services, or packages, and to include tip or not, and you can choose the percentage. They were most helpful in setting up the appointments and even asked me if it was a surprise. Sure enough when my mom got to her appointment, they hinted at her surprises and played along. Too perfect! She had a blast and loved every moment of it. Her shellac manicure cost the same as her typical nail spa but had way better quality and care here! The staff were very friendly and professional. I will be sure to book her future appointments here for special occasions and holidays! Thank you guys for making it memorable and taking care of my mom so well!

Today was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! I had seen a picture of the work that Christian did here in Unilocal and decided to go in and give him a try. Ladies and gentleman if you are looking for a professional to color your hair then I highly recommend you to request Christian. He is friendly and definitely knows what he is doing. He listened to me before he did anything and he was kind enough to tell me the prices of the devices before he started working. I appreciated that so very much. My color looks natural and just what I asked for. My hair came out amazing and I will be continuing to go to Christian. Love this place and the staff was so friendly and welcoming.

Got a pedicure the same day I made the appointment. I think they did a great job. Those cracks on my heels that other day spas here in the valley left on my feet la posada removed. I can wear sandals now! I was also treated really well and the staff was way attentive.

Just enjoyed a 50 minute Swedish massage with Chris! She’s excellent and I could sense she just absolutely loves her job. I just massaged quite often. Chris’ technique, eagerness to ask questions ahead and follow through and overall calm demeanor really bought the experience full circle. The massage was a gift from a friend. I’m going got gift myself a massage again in two months. I made a follow-​up appointment with Chris before leaving. Excellent!

Friendy atmosphere but really bad service (barbershop) my appointment was this past weekend on Saturday 11:20am so I went on time, but the barber never came to the shop so finally at 12pm she appears running, not even a sorry for being late. Anyways she cut my hair nice, so I told her how i wanted my hair and she did a good job. My only complain besides being late is that she didn’t cut my hairline around my ears correctly. It is overpriced for the service they provide. At least they could of washed my hair after for the same prize. I just wish they had better service.

Spa La Posada is the best spa in the Rio Grande Valley. No matter where you’ve had a massage, getting one from Chris at Spa La Posada will be the best massage you’ve received. I’ve had facials here and manicures and pedicures, and they all turn out fantastic. Enjoy a drink while you’re getting one too! An elegant, friendly place: I highly recommend it.

I went to get my son’s and hubby’s haircut done… I cannot tell you how happy we were at the end! We have tried to get the same cut (under cut) from 3 different people and till now that Christian did it we were completely satisfied! We loved the precision and the patient with my little boy and also the flexibility to listen to our needs! Very nice conversation too! will come back to see him over and over again!

I have a high profile position and needed to get my hair done for a very special public event. Called and asked for a master or senior stylist; none available. But they recommended someone who they stated was «very good». I was in a bind and went on and scheduled my cut & highlight, my first visit to Spa La Posada. The cut/​highlight took 6 hours, time I did not have to give. I was charged more than quoted on the phone; was charged full price. The stylist would not cut the layers I requested, saying that i already had layers (that had grown out). The cut was very bad, with strands of hair all over my head that had not been trimmed to the same length as the rest of the cut. One side was longer than the other. My highlight was very blotchy, with some sections white blonde, others, the highlight color I had requested. some blotches were round, rather than running the full strand of the hair. I had a very expensive repair bill at another salon after my visit. I felt badly for the stylist, as she was really not ready to be given carte blanche control over her work, without someone at least checking her work. My complaint is against the owner/​manager who is allowing this at an «upscale» salon. They got me once, but never again!

Very disappointed! Booked appts for my son’s wedding.
They were VERY slow; they did not listen to what we wanted done to our hair.
The makeup was so-​so.
Fortunately, the bride was happy with her hair — despite the 2+ hours it took each of us to complete hair …
Stylists /​make-​up people were very friendly and nice, but .
If you are looking for special event hair/​make-​up, you probably want to look elsewhere.

I really like this place. The waxing is cheap and the job is done well. I was very satisfied with my eyebrow and leg wax.
This place is also a small boutique filled with nice and unique tops, dresses, and jewelry. I love having the option of browsing while waiting for my appointment to come up. The dresses are especially cute and different from what you’d get at a department store.
Will return.

I recently had a massage with Christine Jackson and she was absolutely amazing!!! I have travelled around and had the opoportunity to go to many many spas and try a variety of massage therapists and massages. Christine is by far the best massage I have ever had.
Christine knows exactly what she is doing and is very knowledgeable about muscles and how to work them properly so that I was able to relax and feel revitalized.
I HIGHLY recommend Christine Jackson for your next massage!!!

First, the good news, and only reason SLP gets a second star. I called as a new customer during the holidays when all other spas were completely booked and they not only fit me in, but did so politely. I went in for my shellac manicure and was very satisfied. Running a little late, but the manicurist wasn’t rough at all and the application lasted a solid 10 days (a record for me).
So, I talked the place up to my mom as an alternative to other better known (and pricier) spas that she frequents, and even bought her a shellac so she could go try it out herself. What a disaster. Not only were they running way behind again, but the application was awful. The manicurist (a different one than mine) scratched one of her nails in the process and refused to redo it. I had to call to have it corrected and the service quickly turned sour. The attendant interrogated me, and then curtly said that they could only fix it the very next day at a certain time or not at all. My mom was so bothered by the whole experience that she didn’t even want to go back for the correction.
Fine place in a pinch, but proper customer service is worth the few dollars more at other spas.

I recently went back to get a massage with woman named Christine and wow. All I am going to say was being my first time getting a massage, I tried my hardest not to fall asleep, ONLY because I knew if I fell asleep… I wasn’t going to wake up anytime soon. ha!
When you walk into the room you will find it dimly lit, with the «calm meditation» music playing on pandora… and a small little water fountain on Christine’s desk.
She then tells you exactly what she was going to do and for how long; in this case a full body massage and 50 minutes.
Then she tells you about the aroma therapy lotions to pick from and i choose «stress reliever,» for obvious reasons.
She was delightful and extremely sweet! I am definitely planning on going back. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 starts is because even though it was a pleasant experience, I want to try out other spas. :)
