Well… lesson learned. I did NOT check Unilocal first and am now paying a steep price. The man who works there (owner?) wouldn’t give me an estimate when I dropped my things off Saturday afternoon because he needed to consult with someone about the repair (they are not open on Sundays). Two pairs of shoes (one resoled and one just the heel tips) and a repair of a handbag strap (that I considered fixing myself and I’m sure required minimal effort). I called this morning for the estimate and he told me that the work was already completed (somehow in the 2 hours they were still open on Saturday). The price…$ 142. When I told him that was ridiculous, he pretended to not understand me and yelled at me. So there’s that.

Do not patronize this business. I brought in a pair of dress loafers to have the soles replaced. He installed soles that were twice the thickness of the original. They looked ridiculous. When I complained, he became angry and abusive, and would only change them if I paid for another set of heels. Since his charge for the first set exceeded the value of the shoes, I declined. Bottom line, stay away.

Can I give a business 0 stars? If I could, I would. My husband dropped off a pair of my boots that needed new heels. It certainly never occurred to me that a simple repair could cost $ 92! When I mentioned that the price was more than the value of the boots new, the shopkeeper threw what can only be described as a temper tantrum. He told me not to pick up the boots if I didn’t like the price and flung them into his trash can while screaming at me that the cost of a repair is the same regardless of the cost of the shoe. Well yes, but that doesn’t explain how he justifies that price regardless of whether it is Louboutin or Steve Madden.

I don’t visit often just because the repairs last forever. You really do get what you pay for. Quality work when you need it. I recommend this place & will most definitely will be returning.

This place is a joke. I asked for an estimate to have a Frye boot resoled with leather. The guy asked me how much I paid for them. They were originally around $ 300 and a few years old. To have ONE shoe resoled with leather would be $ 200, with rubber would be $ 125. I was pretty skeptical so I called the Frye Company in Georgetown and asked them how much it would be to resole one boot with leather-​$ 40 for rubber and $ 50 for leather.
The short of it, this place is a scam that caters to the rich people in McLean.

I took two pairs of men’s shoes in for a shine. Was told the shoes needed to be resoled. After paying $ 250 to resole shoes that only cost $ 120 each, the new soles are coming off at the toe after three weeks. Plus, the shoes were never polished! The whole reason why I brought them in. What a crook.

Dishonest and rude and terrible repair job. Do not go here!!!

Had cowboy boots resoled. He asked me how much the boots cost me. I can see how some people may find this rude, but it’s actually refreshing that he was honest. If the boots are cheap they aren’t worth repair.
He fixed them on time and as promised. I’ll go back next time they need work.

Over priced and dishonest! Very disappointed!
I took in a pair of cowboy boots to have non slip sole added. The employees persuaded me to get a different sole than the boot company recommended. He told me since I was a first time customer I would get a great deal. He wouldn’t tell me the price upfront just that I would get a great deal. It ended up costing $ 115. The other quote I got was for $ 70.
When I let him know I was disappointed he told me to go somewhere else next time. Well, I will… if I ever need to have shoes repaired.

I have had many shoes and boots repaired/​restored here and never had a bad experience. I think they do great work. He is not the cheapest, but he is truly a craftsman and I recommend him without reservation.

I don’t know if the work this place does is really quality but apparently that’s because my shoes are worthless. I went in with my friend yesterday because we both had boots that had small problems (I say small because another place fixed hers within 15 minutes and mine in an hour with no problem). The moment the man even SAW our shoes (Didn’t touch or look closely at them), He said «Oh they aren’t real leather they wouldn’t be worth fixing. Just buy new ones.» My boots retailed at about $ 180 and were real leather. Thankfully I got them fixed by someone else later, But I won’t be coming back here in the future. Maybe they do wonderful work but the attitude is atrocious!

These guys are surly, bad-​tempered, and overpriced.

Dropped off a pair of shoes before work and picked them up after! Had the heel fixed and they did a wonderful job.

They replace the soles and heels on my husband’s Allen Edmond shoes, and do as fine a job as sending them back to Allen Edmond for repair,

I love my Donald J Pliners. Great nappa stretch leather, wooden sole (love that power walk). Unfortunately, the sole broke apart. I decided I’d get them repaired. Never gotten shoes repaired before.
I was hoping to go to Simon’s shoe repair store (due to the lovely name!) but they were closed for two weeks. I used Unilocal (yay!) to find the closest shoe repair store in McLean. This came up.
Within a few minutes, he gave me 12 different compliments on my shoes, told me he would replace the sole on both of my shoes with a more resistant one, within 1.5 days, for $ 105.
To be frank, I have no idea if it’s a good price. I needed them quick for travel, and McLean’s shoe store did the job. I certainly can recommend the place based on the quality of the work and the quick turnaround.
