History

Established in 1992.

We started in 1992 in Broadview. Moved to Oak Park, and are now located in Maywood. We’ve hosted a variety of educational events through the years and have become a well respected part of the community resource for cultural information.

After reading books like, «Invisible Man» by Ellison, «Black Economics» by Kunjufu, and «The Mis-​Education of the Negro» by Carter G. Woodson, Nommo became determined to share an important voice conspicuously missing from the pages of history. Watching children and adults transform after being exposed to culturally-​reflective images and historical content is one of the most gratifying experiences beyond measure. It has been an honor to serve the community.
