The house salad you start off with is excellent. Perfectly dressed and nice and crisp. They bring out bread and garlic bread, which are both very good. I started with the french onion soup and it was delicious. My main course was the shrimp fra diavolo with house made pasta. The pasta was perfectly cooked and so tender. My wife had the fresh pasta as well with some very good meatballs. Service was prompt and friendly.

I love this place. I have never had a bad meal here. Their house salad is awesome and vodka sauce is the best. Prices went up when they remodeled. I love goin in on the weekend and sitting at the bar and ordering the smaller portion and cheaper lunch dishes. Moved about 40mins from this place n really miss it. I’ll take the drive any weekend for the food

I went there with my family the past two weekends and yes they def have amazing spaghetti! I got the scallop and crab special the first time which was amazing and I had left overs for days. The second time I ordered the stuffed flounder which was good, but I think I would only stick to pasta dishes here.

What a great joint! Amazing food. Stopped in on the way home from the shore and was blown away by their Seafood Alfredo.

The food here is so good, but not close to where we live. We had flown into AC airport & decided to head here for dinner on the way home. They bring a huge salad to the table, along with crunchy garlic bread & a loaf of fresh bread & butter. The salad was delicious, we ate the entire bowl & it was big. My husband got the linguine & clams white & loved it. I had the Robin’s chicken which was very good. The chicken parm was also very good, as well as the homemade spaghetti. If this place was closer I would be there all the time. Great homemade food!

I spent nearly $ 400 for our family’s dinner. My dinner came out wrong and they could care less. Been coming here for over 20 years and am DONE.

Very romantic atmosphere! Came in half an hour before they closed for dinner and wasn’t given any attitude from the staff. I had Veal Parmesan and it was quite a large portion that was delicious. My only complaint is towards the end of the night– another couple had been dining next to me and when they left, I could hear their server loudly complain about being given an eleven dollar tip on an almost eighty-dollar bill. To me, that is unprofessional, regardless of whether you are about to close or not.

Very disappointed with dinner last night. Lobster bisque was very fishy. Eggplant parm was tough not what you would expect from the Maplewood. Other entrees were good but nothing to rave about. Pasta as always was delicious. They were not busy at all but the service was poor. We’ll give it one more try but at these prices I expect better

Great food especially their spaghetti! Lobster bisque was very flavorful and rich. We all left very full after soup, salad, bread, and meal!

If the food wasn’t so good, this would be a 1 star review. We called before leaving our house because we were trying to decide whether to go to the Hammonton or this location. They told us there would be about a 15 minute wait. We immediately headed over, only to be told that it was more of a 30 minute wait. Hey, no problem. People show up. We went to the bar side and hung out for a bit while having some drinks. We were finally seated at a table on the bar side, but an hour had elapsed since we arrived. From a roughly 15 minute wait to a 60 minute wait wasn’t a good start. Again, we would have gone to the Hammonton location or even somewhere else. I just wish they were honest from the get-go. A little honesty goes a long way. Anyhow, we were seated and immediately asked for our order. We had to ask for more time about 3 times. We finally asked for a few appetizers. We ordered the calamari, bruschetta, coconut shrimp, and I asked for a french onion soup for myself. All were good. They did take a bit to come out, and I wished that they had given us our loaf of bread sooner. We were all really hungry! Even when the bruschetta came out, there was no bread accompanying it. We just had a plate of tomato. We asked for bread, and after another 10+ minutes, it finally made it to the table. From when our appetizer order was taken to when our main course order was taken, at least 30 minutes had elapsed. From when our main course order was taken to when the food came out, about another 45 minutes had elapsed. When all was said and done, we were in the restaurant easily for 3+ hours. Absurd! The food really is delicious — the family got the staples of the chicken, veal, and eggplant parmigiana. My dad ordered crab cakes which were moist and on point. I’m sure we will eventually return, but probably not to this location. At least, not for a bit. But even though our service was off /awful for the night, again, the food was very very good.

One of the best Italian places in south jersey. It used to look like a cafeteria at your grandmother’s retirement home, but with the remodel, it looks like an upscale modern restaurant that you may find in the city. Greatest thing though is that the food didn’t change! It tastes exactly like what your Italian grandmother would make! Homemade gravy & pastas all around. I am in love with the cavatelli with meat sauce! Add on an extra large meatball or sausage link & you’re good to go!

Some things, fortunately, never change. I started coming to this restaurant(and it’s original) as a kid, back when my parents would schlep us out here. The service is(and always has been) friendly & attentive, and the food, simply put, is great. My favorite remains the mussels in the special red sauce, with a side of home made pasta with the mussel sauce. The communal salad bowl never disappoints. Worth the trip!

AMAZING! From the bread to the salad to the homemade pasta and meatballs, this place is the real deal. I felt like I was eating my grandfathers sauce and meatballs from his kitchen. Out of this world! I will be back again and again. Nice people, beautiful décor and great service. LOVE it!!!

this is the best Italian restaurant in the area. Luke Palladino in Linwood is very good and extremely creative, but Maplewood is the total package and a much better value. sit at the bar and get anything with the homemade pasta. homemade pasta with crab and red sauce, for instance. while i am usually rather verbose with my reviews, i have nothing to add.

YUMMM! Maplewood is so freakin’ good! Coming here is definitely worth the 25 minute drive! Homemade everything, and they don’t B.S. anything! A year or so ago their décor was completely different, it was a mom-and-pop type place and it felt like your were eating in someone else’s outdated dining room. However, they have recently made drastic renovations, and it’s a chic, cute, cozy little dining room! Their salad and breads are to die for, you can get full on them before your dinner even gets to the table. The pasta is so freakin’ fabulous, as well as anything else you’ll order. The gnocchi is always my go-to! They have an average sized wine menu, which is good enough for me. I’m not the prissy branded type. Just give me wine and I’ll be a happy girl. I’ve never had dessert here because I’m always too full by the time I’m done eating. I will recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

I used to go here with my Italian grandmother growing up. I’ve lived far away from sleepy South Jersey for almost a decade now, and tonight was the first time I’ve ever gone back. This food is awesome. It is authentic, simple, home-made Italian fare. Like nonna used to make. And the re-design is nice. The prices are really reasonable and even the wine list had a little variation to it. We were given a huge bowl of salad and essentially an entire loaf of bread. We ordered the mussels in a white sauce to start, followed by the manicotti with meatballs and an eggplant parmesan. Carrot cake. Left completely stuffed. I am a huge fan of mussels and they were the only anomaly in my rave review as I thought they had dried out a bit. I tend to think the food at this Maplewood is better than the one in Hammonton, where I haven’t had great experiences. Our server’s name was Jeremy and he was quick, receptive, and just a great waiter. I went with a friend and we had a few glasses of wine and spent the evening catching up over a great meal. Thanks Maplewood!

Place has a total redo, just beautiful, but the food just is not the same, Muscles were sandy, the house salad was to much vinegar ‚ My broiled flounder was thin and crispy, I sent it back. I asked for my broccoli to be done in olive oil and garlic it wasn’t. The tables are so close now we could hear 2 other tables entire conversations . Bread was stale at 6 pm The portions are very small now too. I used to be a good regular I won’t be now.

This place has really earned this 5 star review. The food is absolutely delicious! Started with the fried calimari app and it was as soft as butter which is hard to find around here. For my entrée I ordered the cousins platter and it was loaded with both crab meat and lobster meat and the sauce was amazing. In my opinion, the best italian restaurant outside Philly/NYC. We’ll be back, period.
