Hampton Inn Mattoon

Very impressed with how clean this location was and the rooms were very well decorated. The only complaint I have is when we got up the next morning and walked out into the hall we could smell cigarette smoke.

I was impressed with the hotel. The room was very clean; the bathroom too. They are both good sized for a couple. I don’t know if we were around anyone but we were on the first floor and never heard anyone.
I forgot they have an indoor pool. It looked well maintained. The breakfast area is clean and the food was well stocked. There were eggs, bacon and potatoes one day and biscuits and gravy and sausage the next. There is a waffle area, muffins, fruit, yogurt and cereal. It’s a really good deal.
The fitness room is small but the equipment is in good shape. There are 2 treadmills, an elliptical, weight bench, free weights and medicine balls. I appreciated the towels and water. I didn’t think to bring a towel from my room.
The two downsides were the bed and the AC unit in the room. The bed wasn’t comfortable, in my opinion, at all. The AC unit was really loud and sounded like dripping water but works well. But, the noise is enough to wake you up and think its leaking.
Otherwise, I do recommend the Hampton Inn. I will try to stay here again when I’m in the area visiting family. The employees are friendly, the hotel is clean and the breakfast can’t be beat!

Great place to stay. We had issues with our reservations due to weather/​planning. Once we arrived we sorted through the multiple reservations which just took a couple of minutes. The next morning we had to move into a different room which Mary made sure was ready to move into right after we finished breakfast. The staff was wonderful and we have enjoyed our stay.

This hotel was very family-​friendly with nice accommodations, a decent breakfast in the morning, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was easily accessible off of Highway 57 and it has a pool, which are two one-​year-​olds absolutely loved! :-) The staff is very friendly as well. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone who needs a clean place to stay that is convenient for travels and offers a variety of accommodations for those with family and without.

I’ve stayed here twice for business in the past year and both experiences have been great. As some of the other reviews said, very nicely designed and large rooms are a nice surprise. Staff is friendly and good breakfast. I don’t normally review anything unless it really is a cut above and this Hampton Inn makes that cut!

Disclaimer, I’m a Marriott member so I stay there for points. But an ice storm forced us off I57 and we took the last two rooms, which we walked into and said «Wow! This is nice!» Making me reconsider being a Marriott Rewards member.
Rooms are huge, clean and comfy. Bathrooms are extraordinarily function for hotel bathrooms. The free breakfast was great for a free breakfast and staff kept it stocked and warm/​cool.
I’d stay here again, just not under those circumstances.

My family stayed here in March while visiting EIU. This is a surprising nice hotel for a chain in a small town! The rooms are very nice, clean, and bug free! Although it is close to the highway, we did not have problems with road noise. The provided breakfast was decent with more options than just cereal and toast. The only problem was that there was very little seating in the breakfast area, which is a problem on crowded mornings.
The staff was extremely helpful, as well. I was looking for a pet friendly apartment in the area and the lady at the front desk found me information about different complexes and even called a few of her personal friends to see what they thought about the different apartments!

Excellent hotel, very comparable to many Holiday Inn Express’. Staff was fantastic, and the bed was awesome. Breakfast was decent as well.

Staff was great. Hotel felt dated — especially the rooms. Showers were small and difficult to use.
Although this is the best option for hotels in Mattoon.

With my sister attending EIU, my family and I make this our home away from home when visiting. And the Hampton Inn in Mattoon feels just like that, home.
The rooms are nice in the land of budget hotels. There’s a wooden wardrobe, desk and arm chair in each room. We are always greeted with a smile and our room is always clean. I can tell that the staff takes pride in what they do.
Oh and the wifi, has never been super slow in the room, even when the hotel is crowded!
The breakfast is pretty extensive as far as free continental breakfasts go. There’s always something good AND you can make your own waffles. I always make sure to get a biscuit if they have them.
I’ve stayed here many times and we will do so many more. Located right by I-​57 and a short drive to EIU, the Hampton Inn is a great place if you are visiting the area or just passing through. And you can’t go wrong with a place that keeps cookies at the front desk from time to time!

This Hampton Inn is crazy nice.
When I walked into my room I was actually blown away. The far wall was dressed in hardwood (or looked like hardwood) cabinetry with a built in desk. The room itself was huge and had a very nice and large flat screen TV. The bathroom was also very nice.
The breakfast was standard fare, pre-​made omelets, cereal, doughnuts, milk, etc.
This Hotel very much exceeded my expectations for a Hampton Inn. To be fair I was a little put off by the hard hard white compact florescent bulbs in my room. I respect very much they are doing the compact florescent thing, but some soft bulbs would be more in tune with the décor of the hotel.

This is a wonderful hotel. It was extremely clean and the staff were terrific. It has a nice pool and the breakfast bar had sausage biscuits on it. I would definietly stay here again. I am actually looking forward to staying there again.
